It's no coincidence that Michael Bublé's new album starts with just his voice and some fingersnaps on "The Best Is Yet to Come," a song made famous by Frank Sinatra. The Canadian smoothie looks longingly towards early-'60s Vegas, an impression quickly reinforced when a boisterous horn section makes its grand entrance, about 20 seconds into the track. That Bublé means business is confirmed by the second cut, a fast-paced take on Henry Mancini's "It Had Better Be Tonight," and of course by the CD's very title, another song identified with Sinatra as his cockiest. There are just a few sidesteps from the retro formula that's served Bublé so well so far: a languid duet with Brazilian star Ivan Lins on the bossa "Wonderful Tonight," a gospel choir on "That's Life." Interestingly, Bublé co-wrote the best of those sidesteps, "Everything," a Norah Jones-esque number that alluringly harks back to sunny '70s pop. It's also the only song on the album produced by Bob Rock (best known for his work with Metallica), sending out a strong signal that Bublé should reach out to unlikely collaborators more often. --Elisabeth Vincentelli

Album Description
Melding the contemporary and the classic in ways only he can, Michael Buble has created his most complete studio effort yet. Ranging from "I've Got The World On a String" to "Me and Mrs. Jones," in addition to two new songs co-written by Michael, Call Me Irresponsible makes this album irresistible.
Customer Reviews:
Michael Bublé does it again.......2007-07-09
Even my mother-in-law likes it! And, not going for the 14th selection makes it a very reasonable purchase/gift.
Great Gems.......2007-07-04
Buble's "Call Me Irresponsible" is a fine set with some real jewels. He obviously idolizes Frank Sinatra & shines on "That's Life" with a punchy arrangement, "I've been up & down & over & out & I know one thing, each time I find myself flat on my face I pick myself up & get back in the race." Of my very two favorites are the opener "The Best Is Yet to Come" with its cheerful anticipation, "Wait till the warm-ups are underway, wait till our lips have met, wait till you see that sunshine day, you ain't seen nothing yet!" "Me & Mrs. Jones" is a tale of an affair and was a startling Gamble & Huff soul track for Billy Paul. Buble milks the jazz out of the track, while sounding quite soulful. Harold Arlen is one of my favorite songwriters; so like other reviewers, I question the lisp on "I've Got the World on a String." It's probably supposed to be funny, but it sounds like he's making fun of the song. Joel Peskin's sax on the track blows deliciously. This set has some great gems. Enjoy!
A good album.........2007-07-03
I like it, I really do. I don't love it like I loved It's Time, but I like it. I know I'm being a bit redudant, but such is life. There were a few songs that in my opinion could've been produced or arranged a little better, but overall it's pretty good. I'm a great fan of Mr. Buble so he's one of the few artist that I'll buy a cd just because he's on it, and especially any cd that he puts out because it's sure to have good music on it. So once again I don't love, but I definitely like it..
Worth the wait.......2007-07-03
Why he waits so long between albums is beyond me. I love love love this one! Way better than the last. He's the new classic!!
As Always... Perfection!.......2007-06-29
I love this man! Michael is truly one the best singers of my generation.
Without a doubt...
For me the stand out tracks would have to be: "Me And Mrs. Jones", "Lost" and "I'm Your Man". Brilliant!
I have had the pleasure of meeting Michael more then once and he is a wonderful person! Go and see Michael's live show, it's one of the best!

It is not just the timbre of Norah Jones's voice that is mature beyond her 22 years. Her assured phrasing and precise time are more often found in older singers as well. She is instantly recognizable, blending shades of Billie Holiday and Nina Simone without sounding like anyone but herself. Any way you slice it, she is a singer to be reckoned with. Her readings of the Hank Williams classic "Cold Cold Heart" and Hoagy Carmichael's "The Nearness of You" alone are worth the price of the CD. Jones's own material, while not bad, pales a bit next to such masterpieces. They might have fared better had she and producer Arif Mardin opted for some livelier arrangements, taking better advantage of brilliant sidemen such as Bill Frisell, Kevin Breit, and Brian Blade; or if the tunes had simply been given less laconic performances. Jones has all the tools; what will come with experience and some careful listening to artists like J.J. Cale and Shirley Horn is the knack of remaining low-key without sounding sleepy--sometimes less is not, in fact, more. --Michael Ross

Haunting sounds.......2007-07-06
For 3 months, my Norah Jones CDs have taken over my car stereo. This woman is very talented!
The phenom Ms Jones.......2007-06-27
This is such an outstanding production, so much better than the later(I think) CD. Miss Jones should be careful which guitar players back her up. She should stick to Bill Frizell or maybe she should try Mark Knoffler, if she can get him away from Emmy Lou.
Glad i bought it ( Part II )...!.......2007-06-20
I knew that Nora Jones was good music but i had no idea just how good...My sister-in-law bought me this CD for Father's Day...i have listened to it 3 times today. The way i would describe her lyrics and delivery is equal to "Musical Rose Petals". So smooth and so inviting is her voice. I really love the Piano work also. Her birth name being "Geethali",Nora Jones along with the likes of Michael Buble have added a nice, new, fresh selection of music to today's currently enemic sound. This album made her only the second artist ever to sweep the "Big Four" being Album,Song,Record,& Artist of the Year at the Grammy Awards in 2003. Standouts for me include: "Come Away With Me","Don't Know Why", and i really like her rendition of Hank Williams SR.'s "Cold,Cold Heart". With her throw back to Billie Holiday/Roberta Flack days voice coupled with a very welcomed piano based style, Nora Jones can take me away anytime! If you've waited to give her a listen ,as did I, do yourself a favor and don't wait any longer.
I'd Love To...........2007-06-05
Okay, she's not quite a standards specialist, but a lot of people think Norah Jones is well on her way to setting some new standards of her own.
The daughter of famed Indian sitarist Ravi Shankar, Jones grew up in Dallas with her mother, and her work is firmly rooted in the dry Texas soil. The youngest in this survey (she was born in 1979), Jones burst on the scene in 2002 with this debut album of nine original songs plus a handful of country and pop standards. Renowned for her sweet and soulful set of pipes, Jones has often been compared to Billie Holiday. There's also a touch of Roberta Flack and Emmylou Harris in there.
Come Away with Me is an honest-to-goodness country-blues recording that you can sit back with on the front porch rocker on a brisk autumn afternoon. Sort of like an early James Taylor, Jones mixes a little bit of country, folk, and soul into a collection that's the perfect antidote to today's insincere fare. The public must have sensed the same thing, because it bought this CD in boxcar loads, and in 2003 Jones walked away with eight Grammies, including album of the year and best new artist.
The title track, written by Jones, is the first new song I've heard in a long time that's utterly believable. "Come away with me and I'll never stop loving you," she begs, and it's as though she's singing it to you, personally. To Hank Williams's "Cold Cold Heart" she brings an R & B feel, petitioning in anguish to her lover man to come back, body and soul. "I've Got to See You Again" is an exquisite modern torch song in the same vein, while "One Flight Down" is an upbeat tune with chord progressions right out of Paul McCartney's Wings songs, like "Carry That Load." She ends with Hoagy Carmichael's "The Nearness of You." Close your eyes, let Jones's words envelope you with their soulful caress, and you'll sense that she's a lot nearer than your living room speakers.
Good for my ears........2007-06-02
I see some reviews calling her Snorah Jones, and others which debate whether what she sings is truly jazz. Who cares! If it tastes good I eat it: if it sounds good I listen to it. This girl possesses a unique and expressive vocal instrument. It sounds good to me, facilitative for relaxing in a comfortable chair with a martini or cabernet after a hard day's work. If I were three or four decades younger, it would be perfect make out music.

Album Description
Four years since his last studio album, and following up on his highest charting radio single ever ("Personal Jesus", from Lest We Forget), Marilyn Manson returns with "Eat Me, Drink me". Art openings, soundtrack appearances, and personal circumstance have grabbed headlines for Manson in recent months, setting the stage for the release of Eat Me, Drink Me, which is unquestionably the artist's most personal statement yet. Always the provocateur, in what may be the ultimate subversion of the code of aggro-rock, the songs are immediately catchy - all jagged guitar hooks, anthemic choruses, with an overlying glam-rock sheen. Lyrically Manson has never been more riveting, seemingly having enough to draw from in his own life and from society at large to present a fresh, snarling vision.
Customer Reviews:
Has It's Moments, But Falls Way Short Of Past Work.......2007-07-10
I've been a loyal Manson fan for about 11 years now. Even after really excellent albums like "Mechanical Animals" and "Holy Wood"...I came to terms with the fact that "AntiChrist Superstar" would always be the highlight of his genius. I thought that "Golden Age" was a pretty cool album, and it grew on me more over the years, but I still felt it was a bit dull and watered down when compared to the albums before it. After Manson took a 4 year break from music, I thought he'd return refreshed and inspired. But I grew worried as I read about the album, because even though Manson never came out and actually said it, this is really a solo album. Madonna Wayne Gacy and Ginger Fish do not perform on this album. And we already know that Twiggy Ramirez and John 5 are no longer in the band. This album is just Manson and guitarist/bassist Tim Skold. Manson spent more time on the lyrics and singing, and less time on a running theme or story for the album.
Since Marilyn Manson is one of my favorite artists to emerge from the 90's, I gave the album the benefit of the doubt. It starts off with "If I Was Your Vampire" - a very moody gothic tune. It's one of the albums best songs, but ultimately sounds like something that he would've just thrown on a soundtrack for a movie. The next song, "Putting Holes In Happiness" is a little more fun with a guitar riff you can tap your foot to. Still nothing special. The albums first single, "Heart Shaped Glasses", is a combination of the gothic disco sound that "Tainted Love" had with a guitar riff reminiscent of something from a band like The Strokes. One tune that stood out to me was "You And Me And The Devil Makes 3". I can't put my finger on it, but something about this song reminds me of Manson in his "Portrait Of An American Family" days. The album has a few other moments that could make you stop and think, "Hey that's cool." But I wonder if that's only because the rest of the album is so mediocre. I hate to give Manson anything but 2 thumbs up, but his music was always intelligent, emotional, heavy, and always evolving. This album just seems very uninspired to me, and as though he's trying to gain attention from the emo crowd. If you love everything Manson has done so far, then you could still like this. But don't expect the kind of magic he had from 1996 to 2001.
Best ever............2007-07-10
I bought this for my husband and I absolutely love this album. I think this is by far his best work ever. You can feel the pain in every song. I look forward to more work like this from him.
another creative twist.......2007-07-09
Manson has released wildly different albums that are all surprisingly consistent in terms of creativity and appeal. The three album narrative of AS, MA and HW told the story of birth (AS), corruption (MA) and eventual self-destruction and resurrection (HW). That was a good story. Manson took a break, fired Twiggy, hired Tim Skold, and put together GAOG. Initially, I boycotted the album because Twiggy wasn't there. But it grew on me. Now I like it as much as any other (though AS holds a special place in my heart for the raw energy and decadence Manson exuded in 1996). With the rest of the band gone except for Skold, I didn't know what to expect from EMDE. Like GOAG, I have let this album grow on me, and each successive listen it sounds better.
It is personal in a way unlike previous albums. GOAG was good, but it was almost a joke in terms of content. I attribute this to Twiggy's departure, as I suspect he was the creative force behind much of the lyrics and production. Also absent through most of EMDE are MW Gacy's twisted samples and keyboarding that are such a Manson trademark, but Skold is a talented bassist/guitarist and brings an appealing sound.
Basically I love it and would buy another copy if I lost it. I miss Twiggy and the old crew, but this is another new sound for Manson, and it works well.
disappointment .......2007-07-09
I usually like everything that Manson comes out with-but it seems that this one is lacking everything Manson was. The CD seems like an uncommon sound for Manson. The most disappointment is the guitar. Perhaps I just miss John 5-but I feel that the guitar doesn't mix well with what Manson is trying to achieve. I honestly, would not recommend this CD for anyone.
A whole new side to Manson.......2007-07-08
Ive been a fan of Marilyn Manson since Portait Of An American Family, and I think Eat Me Drink Me is a very good addition to the Manson collection. (if your expecting antichrist-hate-kill-die-death-pain this isnt the album for you!) I enjoyed the music because he shows a little more of his artistic side in this album... Very Good

Thanks to a fortuitous intersection of talent and fate, 22-year-old Josh Groban hasn't finished his senior year in performing arts school but has already released his sophomore effort on a major major label. Fans of the young vocal phenom's debut will find much to enthrall them here, even if it nudges the singer closer to the center of producer/mentor David Foster's MOR pop sensibilities. Eschewing much of its predecessor's more overt classic-lite pretensions and pop-rock covers for a slate of dramatic, Eurocentric ballads that serve as a showcase for the singer's inviting baritone, Groban shrewdly positions himself as the American alternative to the Bocelli-Watson crossover axis. "Caruso" may find the singer falling short of its operatic inspiration, but "Oceano" and "My Confession" quickly showcase his true dramatic range (which seems to all but yearn for a bona fide Broadway musical challenge), while a vocal take of Bacalov's graceful "Il Postino" theme uses classical virtuoso Joshua Bell's violin flourishes to good effect. To his credit, Groban displays some promising efforts at songwriting collaboration on the bittersweet "Per Te" and "Remember When It Rains," while the ambient/ethnic soundscape of Deep Forest's "Never Let Go" offers a teasing alternative to the record's otherwise melodramatic production formula. Groban has found commercial triumph via Foster's mentoring, but there remains a nagging sense here that he hasn't truly pushed himself as an artist--yet. --Jerry McCulley

THIS CD IS FANTASTIC. THE VOCALS ARE SO STRONG IT DOESN'T MATTER THAT THEY ARE IN ENGLISH, FRENCH, SPANISH, AND ITALIAN. THE PASSION COMES THRU LOUD AND CLEAR. I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAITED SO LONG TO GET THIS. IT'S PLAYED NEARLY EVERY DAY. EVEN MY 4 AND 7 Y/O SING TO IT.

This was the first Josh Groban album that I bought. I heard his Live at the Greek album in a friend's vehicle and decided I needed some of his work. I have since bought all of his available albums. This is still probably my favorite. It is an excellent example of his talent and the music is beautiful! I definitely recommend it to any music fan.

This fourth effort from the soft-rock-masquerading-as-country band Rascal Flatts moved more than 721,000 copies its first week out, which let the female-friendly trio rub elbows with some mighty heady company. Only four other country artists (Garth Brooks, Shania Twain, the Dixie Chicks, and Tim McGraw) have rolled out numbers like that, and only 24 other acts total (including Eminem, 50 Cent, U2, and Coldplay). So what's the hook, besides Gary LeVox's wounded tenor and Joe Don Rooney's boy-band face? Clearly, it's the songs. Or it usually is. On Me and My Gang, "What Hurts the Most" is the one that'll end up on a tape loop in your head, though "Yes, I Do" memorably frames romantic yearning and regret with ersatz reggae rhythms, and the sexy "Cool Thing" does a slow burn. The problem? New producer Dann ("King of Excess") Huff bloats too many tunes with screaming, by-the-book guitars and general bombast. And despite his über success with Faith Hill and Keith Urban, Huff has never really understood what makes country, well... country. Instead, he insultingly works in a snippet of steel guitar and a couple of family lyrics--e.g., the melodramatic "Ellsworth" is meant to pull the heartstrings of anyone who's seen the cruelty of Alzheimer's--and thinks he's thrown Nashville a bone. Worse, "Backwards" boringly reworks that hoary ol' country joke "What do you get when you play a country song backwards?," the title song is a Big & Rich ripoff, and even God gets dragged in for a half-baked attempt at middle-America resonance ("He Ain't the Leavin' Kind"). C'mon now. Call these boys pop and be done with the pandering. Joe Don's famously photographed derrière got a fairer crack than this. --Alanna Nash

Simply awesome.......2007-07-09
Thsi album is absolutely great, all of the songs are just so full of emotions and the voice of LeVox just makes it even better, all of the album is a masterpiece though the songs that outstand the most are "What Hurts the Most", "Pieces" (My personal favorite, I just love this song I think I've played it over 400 times in my itunes library already), "My Wish", "Ellsworth" (Nice story the song describes) and "Stand", if you like music with great tunes and lyrics and specially with MEANING, then this is the album for you, by the way this one contains "Life is A Highway" as a fourteenth track unlike the previous April 4rth release.
SIMPLY AWESOME!!.......2007-06-28
I'm not even a country fan but I fell in love with the song "What hurts the Most" and since I bought their last CD because I fell in love with "Bless the Broken Road, I decided to buy Me and My Gang.
I must say I was impressed with the whole CD. Each song is wonderful. There are ballads, and up tempo tunes. My Wish, To Make Her Love Me, Yes I do and Pieces have turned out to be my favorites.
I recommend the entire CD!!!

Their first-ever album, raw and rough and still very rock & roll. Lennon and McCartney begin to flex their writing muscles and had already scored two UK hits when this appeared, but they still relied heavily on the cover material to see them through. Their insecurity about their own abilities seems curious in hindsight since they'd pulled the title song and "I Saw Her Standing There" (with thanks to Little Richard) out of their hats. But they were an unknown quantity, still to launch a million bands and take pop music to places it had never dreamed off. A small step for four men, a giant leap for music. --Chris Nickson

Good luck on locating these Russian CDs. Exceptional material, sound, and stereo separation.
Oh Yeah, this is the good stuff.......2007-06-12
The Beatles' debut album. Before they got pretentious. Which isn't to say they weren't still great when they got pretentious, just they were great AND pretentious. Here they're just great. People are so awed by the ostentation of the later albums that they underrate this one. But it's got an immediacy none of the other Beatles albums have (well, maybe A HARD DAY'S NIGHT). As everybody else notes, it's practically a live album. I could do without Paul's cover "A Taste of Honey," but otherwise this is perfection. You got "Please Please Me," probably the dirtiest hit song since Little Richard's "Tutti Frutti." You got Ringo singing a cover of "Boys," making it a great little gay camp number. John Lennon does punk before punk with the cover of the Isley Brothers' "Twist and Shout." And "I Saw Here Standing There" is one of the most perfect album openers ever. Given the fact that overblown pretension is so much the order of the day in every corner of the pop music world at the moment (it's like all we're back to the era of those mid-50s standards by Perry Como and Doris Day with all the overdone plush strings and sentimental bombast -- You know, the music rock, rap and soul was supposed to kill), this lean, punchy album is an essential antidote. Play it along with Louis Armstrong 's early Fives and Sevens recordings and The Ramones' first album in order the get the desired effect.
Damn, this is the Beatles!.......2007-05-09
Why do some people only look into their later stuff, and completly ignore the early stuff? Take _______ note, what peopel say, the Beatles progressed a _____load. You won't find any strings, horns, or not even much piano, just the foru and their guitars (with some harmonica and other _____). When this first came out, it was a revolution for rock music. Plus, it's influential and very _________ good.
This has my favorite early Beatles song, I Saw Her Standing There. But that's not it. It has Love Me Do, Anna, Twist and Shout, just 14 extremely catchy songs. I do wish that Amazon would put some _________ samples. Seriously. You listening, you piece of ______ site?
I will say that this, Please Please Me was, yes, a ________ stepping stone for rock. _____ the people who say the Beatles were nothing more than just a 60's Backstreet Boys. This is when the group members all worked together, made pure music, and didn't use _________ overdubbing and recording. The guy who wrote a review some reviews below explained well. Yeah, The Beatles later albums were nothing influential, despite what anyone says (Sgt. Pepper's did ____ for rock, just pop. It's nothing more than a noveltly record). I didn't give a _____, Hendrix and Zeppelin carried the tourch, im glad the Beatles went their own way, because Sgt. Pepper may have been the most overhyped album, ever, but it still is a masterpiece.
I can't reccomend this enough. Buy it!
AND ... THE DREAM STARTED.......2007-05-05
Welcome to the birth of Beatlemania!!! this was the first shock that the most popular musical group made to the world! their first example with very powerful and magnificent songs, from the "1,2,3,4" in I SAW HER STANDING THERE (wonderful rock'n'roll song) to the romanticysm of DO YOU WANT TO KNOW A SECRET; this disc has the great hit LOVE ME DO, The very strong rock of TWIST AND SHOUT, many excellent covers like ANNA GO TO HIM and BABY IT'S YOU, the Ringo's debut as a singer in BOYS, the beautiful ballad P.S. I LOVE YOU and their first No.1 hit in UK charts PLEASE PLEASE ME; if you don't have beatles records or you are beginning to meet this group, you have to buy this cd first. ¡Enjoy the birth of the Modern Music!
Let the magical mystery tour commence.......2007-04-08
This, The Beatles debut LP, was released in the UK in the spring of 1963. In my native Toronto it was released as Twist and Shout in February, 1964, two months after With the Beatles! My vinyl release includes From Me to You and She Loves You and omits I Saw Her Standing There and Misery. The liner notes are completely different from the UK and the US LPs.
Has any band launched its album career more auspiciously than The Beatles? Paul shouts "1 2 3 4", George enters the picture with his guitar, and then Paul begins to sing "Well she was just 17. You know what I mean..." Thirty seconds later the first loud "Whooooo!" Ladies and gentlemen, fasten your seat belts for the commencement of a six year musical ride of this or any other lifetime.
There are eight originals and six covers - a pattern continued with their next LP. I have always felt that the covers here are more interesting than on With The Beatles. There is a miss-step (Honey) just as there would be later (Till There Was You). However, John's searing rendition of Twist and Shout more than makes up for that lapse of judgment. They also do a terrific job with the two Shirelles' songs, Boys and Baby it's You, making the songs their own rather than just parroting the original material. The original material is mostly very strong. Has anyone noticed that on the cd the credits for their own compositions are McCartney-Lennon while on the vinyl (my vinyl anyway) there are five where Paul's name comes first and three where John receives the lead credit. It is amazing what one discovers forty-three years and two months after buying the album! On With the Beatles all eight are L-M on both the record and the cd.
The emergence of the Beatles in 1963 was a seminal moment in the history of popular music. From that point forward everything changed. Suddenly, and seemingly from nowhere, rock and roll groups (the word "band" didn't replace "group" for several decades) appeared. They certainly looked different. They played their own instruments and wrote much of their own material. They sang with abandon. They screamed and they whooped and they hollered. They had strange accents. As much as I loved, and still love, the professionally penned hits that seemed to dominate the early sixties ( Goff in-King, Lieber-Stoller, Neil Sedaka and many more) popular music had somehow lost its way after the mid-fifties when rock and roll burst upon the scene. It seemed as if we, the young, had discovered a form of music that we could call our own and then had it appropriated from us. The Beatles grabbed it and gave it back to us. Our parents were once again forced to start shaking their heads in bewilderment. As long as parents continue to do so music is on the right track!
As a record of immense historical importance Please Please Me deserves the highest rating available. It deserves its own category. Had the Beatles never released another recording this would deserve five stars. However, we all know where they went so quickly and what they were capable of. And there is the fact of six covers and A Taste of Honey! If I give this five then what do I give Rubber Soul? Five with and asterisk? Four and a half seems appropriate

Jimmy Buffett may have made his millions, but that doesn't mean that he has eased up on his workload. After releasing 33 albums, mounting grueling annual tours, and fashioning an entire industry and lifestyle out of his signature song "Margaritaville," Buffett trots out this two-CD collection. Yet, Meet Me in Magaritaville, which spans 30 years, isn't merely a retread of his long, storied career. Buffett has written two new songs for the package and re-recorded six alternative versions of fan favorites (including a moving version of "The Captain and the Kid," which he included for his ailing father, who died shortly after the album's release). He's also added two new cover songs--a spicy bossa nova version of Fred Neil's "Everybody's Talking" and the Beach Boys' "Sail on Sailor"--as well four live tracks, which shows the singer at his best, conjuring up his own Yuppie Atlantis, an idyllic place where no one has to wear shoes, the sun is always shining, the bar never closes, and Junior Mints are always available at every cinema. A must-have collection for every Parrothead (or aspiring Parrothead), if only for Buffett's track-by-track descriptions. --Jaan Uhelszki

typical island music.......2007-06-27
After visiting south Florida and the Keys on several occasions. I heard some of his music whilst there. Bought the cd hoping that it would take me back there whilst being in rainy cold england. It does! Job done. It takes you to sandy beaches, blue skys and laid back bars. Some tracks are a bit cheesy but typical of the sort of music you hear down there.Turn your heating up, grab a beer, close your eyes, put this album on and your almost there.Almost!!

Bought this cd for my brother-in-law for Christmas, and he says it is wonderful. All the songs from over the years, he just loves it.
It's Jimmy Buffett, what else could you ask for?.......2007-03-19
This album is a collection of some of the best stuff Jimmy Buffett has recorded. It's a blend of old and new. Many of the songs are like old friends that you always like to spend time with and although some of the songs are newer, they fit right in with your circle of friends.
I highly recommend this album to anyone who enjoys slipping away to Margaritaville for a little while. It's music that crosses the generation gap. I'm in my 40's, my parents are in their mid - 60's and my daughter is a teenager, and we all enjoy Jimmy Buffett. If you purchase this album, you won't be disappointed.
the best JB collection EVER!.......2007-03-07
I love this collection of 38 JB songs! It has all of my fave songs on it, but I love it especialy because my 2 of my fave songs, In The Shelter (disc 2) and the ever popular Come Monday (disc 1) are together in one collection! I listen to it all the time!

There are worse things in life than making your acting debut on the much ballyhooed season finale of Ally McBeal, though teen operatic baritone Josh Groban doesn't seem destined to encounter them anytime soon. As the awkward high school student-client who asks the typically romance-jinxed Ally to his senior prom, Groban performed this debut album's "You're Still You" (adapted from film-composing legend Ennio Morricone's Academy Award-nominated score for Malèna, with lyrics by Linda Thompson) as a heart-tugging, literal showstopper. The young phenom was just 17 when veteran producer-writer David Foster tapped him to fill in for Andrea Bocelli at rehearsals for the 1999 Grammys, where Groban found himself suddenly dueting with Celine Dion.
Indeed, such were his fortunes that the young Foster protégé was forced to drop out of Carnegie Mellon when professional commitments--including this record--interfered. And if this collection tends to hew sometimes uncomfortably close to Foster's own MOR sonic instincts, the material offers enough challenges to display Groban's talent and the potential of his warm, mature voice: a lyrical take on another Morricone classic, "Cinema Paradiso"; melancholy readings of Don McLean's "Starry, Starry Night" and Albert Hammond's "Alejate"; masterfully dramatic takes of the Neapolitan "Alla Luca Del Sole" and "Canto Alla Vita," the latter featuring the Corrs. Many of Groban's performances here, including a neo prog-rock-opera take on Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" (with Lili Haydn), seem both bigger and bolder than their precious musical frameworks, a telling hint that Grand Opera can't be far from his grasp. As said earlier, there are worse things in life. --Jerry McCulley

What a voice, what an artist, what a man.
Underestimated in Europe. His concert on 21 May 2007 in Amsterdam was superb!
Oh my Gosh, Josh!.......2007-07-03
I love Josh Groban's music! It is romantic, mellow and beautiful :)
This CD has two songs on it that are very unusual. I believe both are from Cirque de Soleil, and draw you into the music--warning-- While driving, do not close your eyes!
a true star.......2007-06-24
First saw and heard Josh on the Tv and was blown away by his talent! it was about a year later that I found out who he was and bought the first album and can honestly say that I have never tired of his work. Every song is magical and he is truely wonderful. Have since purchased all his work and have also had the priviledge of seeing him live in concert in Glasgow/Scotland and was amazed. such a talented young man with a truely magical voice
Floodgates of the Heart.......2007-06-05
This CD played almost constantly in my wife's car for several years. Josh Groban's voice is so gentle and can go from gentleness to anthematic, almost operatic, textures. He sings in Italian effortlessly. The orchestration on "Cinema Paradiso" is enthralling with its emotional reach, powerful even with lyrics beyond my understanding. "To Where You Are" is one of the most gorgeous songs. Knowing how it moved my wife in the years before breast cancer proved stronger than her body, it touches me now, "Fly me up to where you are beyond the distant star I wish upon tonight to see you smile, if only for awhile to know you're there; a breath a ways to where you are." The song opens the floodgates of my heart. The Corrs were on Groban's 143 label when this release came out in 2001 and join him on the upbeat "Canto Alla Vita." Groban makes an interesting selection with Don McLean's "Vincent," polishing the melody to a fine sheen in ways that surpassed the original. Listening to Bach's "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" is like being in a sonic cathedral with Groban's voice matching the grandeur of the music. With Charlotte Church on "The Prayer," Groban concludes the set with the Carole Bayer Sager/David Foster composition that makes one contemplate the eternal, "Lead us to a place, find us with your grace, give us faith so we'll be safe." Groban's first CD enhances with repeated listening by virtue of the depth of musicianship and performance. I listen to it now hearing the music that moved the one I love to tears. It does the same for me. I hope it touches you too. Bravo!
Disappointing..........2007-05-31
Each song he sings is special with his voice...but this CD is disjointed and grasping. Couldn'the producers put together a cohesive CD that flowed from one song to the other? This is my first Josh CD and quite frankly I'll need to think twice before purchasing a second.

Their fifth album, Get Behind Me Satan is the strangest and least focused effort by these unlikely garage rock superstars to date. It's also their finest, an Exile on Main Street-ish mish-mash where the sum is greater than the parts. In a market increasingly driven by singles and downloads, it's nice to be reminded how exciting an album can be, especially one where you really don't know what to expect next. There are a lot fewer pounding guitars on this album. They've largely been replaced by pounding pianos. Most songs sound like rough mixes at first; almost every song has something exceptionally loud in the mix--the guitar solo in "The Nurse," the drums in "Doorbell," everything in "Blue Orchid." After a few listens, however, it becomes clear that the group is not using the studio as an instrument so much as exposing the nuts and bolts in the process along the way.
There are some duds; the wanky blooze-rawk number "Instinct Blues" goes on way too long and it would be nice if "The Nurse" had a real chorus. Whether "Passive Manipulation" is about the wife-or-sister schtick, if the cover artwork indeed has Jack and Meg calling each other devils, and which scripture is referred to by the album's title (Matthew, Mark or Luke?): none of that matters so much as the fact that this album is strangely sprawling and obliquely ass-kicking at the same time. "Orchid" is a rockdisko sonic smash that shows how to really get rock kids on the dancefloor. Meanwhile, "Doorbell" sounds enough like the Jackson Five to totally rule, and "Forever for Her" is the best ballad Jack's written in years. The fact that some marimbas provide the driving force to "Forever" makes it all the better. --Mike McGonigal
Customer Reviews:
An Unparalleled Modern Masterpiece.......2007-06-27
This album is sheer unadorned brillance on par with the great classics of all time such as The White Album, Exile on Main Street, etc. Nobody makes music this pure anymore. It's so great that I think a lot of people don't know what to make of it due to the fact that when you compare it to everything else being release these days, it's light years ahead of all of it. A truly groundbreaking album that will probably take years for many people to fully appreciate, embrace, and give it's due of unhearalded masterpiece.
Not as good as their other albums.......2007-06-27
The White Stripes always redefine themselves with every album. This one isn't quite as good as their others, but that is not to say it isn't enjoyable. Still worthy of purchase for any fan.
Progressive yet the least focused.......2007-06-21
Many times the first single can be entirely be misleading. Sometimes people will say the single is the worst song on the album while in terrible records it's actually the best and end up fooling buyers thinking the record was awesome. Not so with Get Behind Me Satan, the 5th album from the White Stripes led by duo Jack and Meg White. Now this is not a terrible record by any means, I mean it sure beats anything those pop punk dudes churn out but this isn't a record with huge commercial appeal like Elephant. Probably even less so.
The album starts out promisingly enough with "Blue Orchid" with Jack's octave-affected guitar doing a catchy riff and singing something about orchids and how old someone is. I don't know but it's a great opening track. Next is the totally weird the Nurse which is led by a dulcimer and it's just an odd track, not necessarily bad just...odd. We do have other songs like My Doorbell or the Denial Twist which are big piano-based numbers and while catchy, you kind of miss the guitars for some reason.
The rest are separated into 2 types of songs. First half is the acoustic/piano stuff like Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) and White Moon with the former being one of his better ballads while the latter has a nice piano part yet it suffers from not really having a sense of melody to latch onto outside of the piano. Take, Take, Take which is a more upbeat acoustic song is alright but the chorus is just irritating. Afterwards we get what's probably this album's We're Going to be Friends with a weirdly upbeat As Ugly as I Am which is actually quite fun to play as well as listen to.
The other type is the big blues rock numbers akin to Ball and Biscuit from Elephant. Problem is outside of the main riff, Instinct Blues just feels way too long and is kind of uninteresting to listen. Red Rain is way better which shifts from soft slide guitar to big loud slide chords a la Seven Nation Army. The album ends with the soft piano I Get Lonely (But I Ain't That Lonely Yet). It seems like an appropriate closer given the material on here and it's a nice song to listen to but you probably won't have it on repeat much.
You got to give them credit for at least trying to shake things up a bit. But like one reviewer mentioned once, it feels like they're trying to artificially change their sound rather than letting feel like a natural progression. If on first listen it doesn't appeal, try again. It's an album you can get, not get or get but still thinks it's an underwhelming album anyways.
Jack may have lost the plot..........2007-04-21
Ok, here we go... the first track is fine, but it gives one a false hope for everything that's to follow. What I wanna know is... Who are the people writing these glowing reviews? Nobody I know, that's for sure. This record is nearly unbearable, an obvious case of a capable songwriter over-reaching and expecting his listeners to suspend their disbelief. Jack White does not have a voice that can carry a song by itself, and the sparse arrangements on this record force his voice to attempt the impossible. It's a fun voice, don't get me wrong, but it MUST be accompanied by some equally quirky guitar to be listenable. Unfortunately, "Get Behind Me, Satan" pushes the vocals very high in the mix, and decorates them with some honky-tonk piano here, some acoustic guitar there, and annoyance all over the place.
Myself and many of my friends are fans of the previous White Stripes records. We have been for a very long time. Not one of the people I know mentions this album without an apocryphal tone of voice, and most just out-and-out hate it. The regular conversation is something to the effect of "Yeah, I gave it a chance, I listened to it over and over, thinking 'maybe it'll grow on me', but I just started to really dislike it." If you haven't bought it, just hold out for the next one, 'cause there's no way it'll be worse than this.
(and for all the folks who are "personally offended" by my judgement of this record - Jack doesn't need your defense. He'll be just fine whether I liked it or not.)
Interesting.......2007-03-27
I bought this cd when it was released and was pretty taken back. The music on this cd is different from the whites stripes older cds but it is still interesting to listen to and enjoy. I still listen to this album and most of the songs are pretty cool and fun. I would remcommend this album for those who like the white stripes and those who heard of this band. You'll be in store for something unique!

"I put in so much time," Joe sings in a down'n'dirty rasp on "My Love," one of a handful of tracks on Ain't Nothin' Like Me destined to make hopeless R&B romantics swoon. Then, on the same song, he massages away the worries of fans who've been waiting for new Joe material since 2003: "I've got everything under control," he croons. Despite a bunch of release-date pushbacks, Ain't Nothin' Like Me leaves little room for doubt that he does. This is confident, grown-and-sexy music stirred to a pleasing consistency by slick, super-experienced collaborators--Dre, Nas, and G-Unit heavy-hitters Tony Yayo and Young Buck among them. The chugger "Love is Just a Game" grabs hold with grooves that swirl and echo, opener "Get to Know Me" bumps along to a hot Tim & Bob beat, and "Where You At" wins instant sympathy from the lovelorn and the forsaken with its rueful finger-snaps. Frost-free vocals are put to excellent use throughout, and in a way that doesn't emphasize style over honesty. If there's a misstep here, it's the boastful title--any disc of substance deserves a better one. Still, there ain't nothin' else not to like. --Tammy La Gorce

I Think Joe could have done a better job as far as the song are concern on the CD AIN't Nothin' LIKE ME because From the last CD to this one I think it took about a year to record this one. What I,m trying to say is I,m a fan of Joe,s an I,m from his home town Columbus,GA I expected something with a lot more energy, drive, carizma.Maybe two or three song that would make ya get up on the dance floor and do the don thing know what I mean! But this CD don,t got it.(Sorry Joe)Maybe next time
It keeps gettin betta.......2007-07-05
This is Joe's best cd yet. He mixes it up a bit with more up-tempo tracks than with previous projects, and does a fabulous job at it. I can honestly listen to this cd straight through, there isn't one song I don't like. Considering how talented the brotha really is it shouldn't be that surprising. He continues to evolve as an artist. This is how R&B should be done.
ain't nothin like the other R&B singers.......2007-06-29
joe has been around for years now; but, this new album of his is something else. it has that grown and sexy R&B vibe throughout the whole cd. id recommend this album to anyone who likes R&B. this album is so much better and deeper than the other R&B albums of today.
Don't Sleep On This!.......2007-06-26
Joe has been around the block enough times to know what it takes to put together a solid R&B album. A lot of artists come and go in the music industry because they didn't have the promotional machine behind their albums. Joe has fallen victim to this very same situation, suffering from a lack of sales even though his albums have great songwriting and are well produced. But the son of a preacher man (and preacher woman) continues to push on because of his love for the music. His latest project is Ain't Nothin' Like Me, another banging R&B album on his long list of hot albums. His focus on ballads is obvious, probably since more fans recognize him for his smooth vocals. Songs like "If I Was Your Man" and "I Want Her" are huge standouts that are primed for radio. "My Love" is another contender for a future single with its underlying danceable beat, along with the poetic "It's Me" where he apologizes for stepping out on a relationship. Surprisingly, his song with Nas titled "Get To Know Me" and another with Papoose called "Where You At" are still slow cuts even with the inclusion of the respective rappers. Other songs with a touch of Hip-Hop are stepped up to a mid-tempo groove, namely "Let's Just Do It" with the incognito lyricist Fabolous, the title track with Tony Yayo and Young Buck, and "Just Relax" with Dre (of Cool & Dre.) If you're a long-time fan of Joe, you will certainly enjoy Ain't Nothin' Like Me. The album title says it all.
