Customer Reviews:
Everything you need from the milkmen.......2005-11-20
When the Dead Milkmen first released this album i thought that it wasn't going to capture all of the work they've done over their illustrious career. I was wrong, being a huge DM fan for a long time i knew what their best songs were and what should be on this album. I saw the track listing online a while ago and said, "wow, this is all their best songs on one cd, it looks like someone finnaly made a great greatest hits album!" and it's true, if you wanna get into the DM, get this one.
I'm so much cooler than you.......2005-08-09
Dead Milkmen were my "I'm cooler than you because I like this band" group I chose in high school. The only song I had ever heard by the band was "punk rock girl", but I said your typical hard core fan stuff like how much I liked their earlier stuff and compared them to other bands like Frankie's Weiner that no one else had heard of. Did you have to know what you were talking about? NO, of course not. It's all about image. I formed several bands in high school that never played a show. I would put up flyers all around the school and cancel the shows the day they were supposed to go off. I would tell people the club didn't meet fire code. Girls would ask if they could sleep with me to cheer me up. There was a six month period where I fronted nine fake bands that never picked up an instrument, but I had a rock star following. That is why I'm where I am and you are where you are.
coolest cd ever.......2005-06-20
This is a great cd by the Dead Milkmen. it has a great variety of music- compare "tiny town" to "instant club hit". It starts off pretty straightforward and gets really weird after the 8th or 9th song but it's still a great album that I can listen to all day and be amused every time.
Not only does it have great music, it's really funny. get it today. best songs- bitchin camaro, the thing that only eats hippies.
Sentimental 5 star album.......2002-03-19
I was a Milkmen fan since Big Lizard came out...blah, blah, blah (but, its true). Anyways, I picked this CD up as a quick fix for my collection as my few remaining Milkmen albums typically are on tape. Sadly, most of these tapes were also either played to death by myself or stolen/farmed out to (former)friends. This CD covers most of the highlights of their career with the exception of "those 2 albums" mentioned in the other reviews.
The milkmen are wonderfully snotty and gleefully offensive and very funny in a smarter than it first sounds sort of way. Its pointless to figure out if they are thumbing their milky noses at the subjects of their songs or the (sometimes stilted) conventions of punk music itself; it is often both and that is a good and "nutritionally" healthy thing. There were a few songs that I missed not hearing on this album such as "Gorilla Girl," "Brat in the Frat," and "Beige Sunshine" just to name a few and this almost forced me to end the streak of perfect reviews. I just can't do it.
If you've never heard the Milkmen, prepare yourself for a musical awakening. ONCE PROPERLY AWAKENED, go out and buy Big Lizard in my Back Yard, Beezlebubba (my personal favorite), and Metaphysical Graffitti; these three albums flesh out most of the Milkmen's career as well as provide the majority of the tracks on this CD.
A final warning if you buy this CD: keep it under close eye when your "friends" come to visit, you may end up losing both.
Good for beginners.......2000-10-13
If you are interested in the Milkmen, but have no idea where to begin, this is the album for you. It includes songs from many of their albums, allowing the listener a taste of each development in the band's style. There is a notable era missing from this collection, that of the infamous out-of-print albums (infamous not because they are poor quality, but because the alternate label those particular albums were on quit making more copies AND they refused to relinquish the rights to the songs... what kind of nonsense is that??). Anyway, this collection will help a listener decide which albums to seek according to his or her taste. So buy it! And if you get hooked and buy them all, pass this one on. Spread it around.

Great Album.......2007-02-18
Not as good as EGBDF or Superfuzz, but then again not much is...This album has some great stuff on it. Way better than piece of cake!
Flat and Insipid.......2006-02-21
I was a huge Mudhoney fan back in the early 90's; thought they could do no wrong. Then they did wrong, big time. Became boring and flat.
Unlike many others, I thought highly of "Piece of Cake", their major label debut. But afterwards they went downhill fast, first the country-tinged EP, which was ok if nothing special, and then this album, which is of vastly inferior quality to anything they'd done previously. The songs sound forced, lack any inspiration, and even the lyrics lack any hint of the good ole Mudhoney wit.
I remember being surprised at some of the way-off-mark positive reviews the album got when it came out, which heralded it as some sort of return to the "original" Mudhoney sound due to Jack Endino's production. The sad truth is that this album doesn't carry a tenth of the punch and verve of the last Mudhoney album Endino produced, their self-titled LP.
Just noticed that Mudhoney's putting out another new album. I don't know who's still keeping up with them, but I wouldn't hold my breath.
My Daddy's Rich & My Mama's Good Lookin'..........2004-11-11
It's been a while since anyone reviewed this, so what the hell. This was the first Mudhoney CD I ever listened to, back in the mid-90's, as the grunge scene was well on its way to sloping back down from its apex. Most people have never heard of Mudhoney, and most of those who have know them from their cameo in "Black Sheep" as the band at the rally where Chris Farley's character indelibly makes a fool of himself. But this band was actually instrumental in the formation of the grunge "movement," and was one of the first bands to emerge from that era that was actually worth a damn. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on how you look at it, they didn't come nearly as close to stardom and influence as some of their counterparts. Nevertheless, they made several albums that were instrumental in making the grunge scene what it was. This album, along with some of their earlier albums, constitute their best work. With songs like "Generation Spokesmodel," "Into Yer Schtick" (rumored to be about Courtney Love) and "Judgment, Rage, Retribution & Thyme," this is a great place to start if you're unfamiliar with Mudhoney.
What are some of you thinking?!.......2001-07-08
"My Brother the Cow" is a great album. Going back to their roots, Mudhoney gets their old producer Jack Endino, who i might add is amazing, and delivers an all out expolsive album. One of the best CDs released in 1995. With their post punk tracks like Judgement, Rage, Retribution and Thyme, their tracks like FDK and their bluesy tracks like In My Finest Suit, Mudhoney shows us the range they have. This is probasbly the last great album of that whole "grunge" thing.
over-rated grunge riders strike again.......2000-10-05
Sleep walking through yet another release, this band never ceases to let you down. The only good thing they ever did, was show us what reviewers were grading this album as a good one to make themselves look hip. 'Spin' magazine, I'm looking at you. Don't waste your money on this or any of their albums. Two bands does not a movement make, and being from Seattle does not make you a good band.

Product Description
Kentucky Hellbilly! "Like the Clash, if they were American and more concerned with cars than politics". "The Meanist Band in Town!" was formed in 2004 this rugged Kentucky based band is led by Jack Coray with his deep-as-the-Mississippi Cashesque vocals and rampaging guitar, together with headlong accompaniment of upright bass and drums make for fast-paced nitro-fueled music that cuts full-on Hellbilly with western voicings, countryish bopping and fireball psych storming. The CD has been described as high-octane songs that buzz with the spirit of vintage Rockabilly and burn with the fire of classic Punk . "Hellbilly all the way!" The CD has ten original songs, and a bonus track of Golden Earring s 80 s pop hit done Hillbilly style "Johnny Cash singing a Golden Earring song!".

Customer Reviews:
Great Live Album.......2006-03-31
This is easily in my top 5 list of great live albums. It serves as a chronological counterpoint to "Donut Comes Alive" as this has mainly later material on it. You can't really compare their first album with this one-they are both incredibly strong live performance albums. If you want to survey their music, buy this one and "Donut Comes Alive" first and foremost. Then scoop up all the rest, as others have mentioned, because if you grok this junk, you'll definitely need some more.
Not a bad place to start.......2004-07-16
Alice Donut were one of the finest bands of the late 80's/early 90's, and if you ever saw them live you would have been a fan for life. Lyrics that required some thought to write, excellent two guitar interplay and the occasional trombone combine for a lovely green meat stew of punk rock (if you must pigeonhole them). Every song on this live album is one of their best, performed during a tight live CBGB show complete with hilarious between song banter. If you buy this and "get it", then immediately purchase the rest of their catalog before it gets really hard to find. If you buy this and don't "get it", stick to things like Blink 182 until you have your first child and start amassing Sting and Michael Bolton records. Good luck.
ALICE COMES ALIVE!!!!!.......2003-11-07
THIS WAS THEIR FIRST ALBUM I HEARD FOR THE FIRST TIME HEARING ABOUT THIS GREAT ALTERNATIVE PUNK FREAK POP BAND IN DECEMBER 2000
BY MY SISTERS EX BOYFRIENDS HOUSE.I WAS AMAZED BY THE LIVE, RAW
SET THEY PLAYED THAT NIGHT THIS ALBUM WAS RECORDED.I LOVE HOW TOMAS ANTONA MAKES FUN OF PAUL STANLEY INSTEAD OF SAYIN COLD GIN HOW WOULD LIKE TO TAKE A TASTE OF ROBITUSSIN!!!!! I WAS ON THE FLOOR LAUGHING WHEN I HEARD THAT, HA HA HA THIS WHOLE ALBUM COMBINES ELEMENTS OF JANE'S ADDICTION, SLAP OF DEAD KENNEDYS OF HEAVY SARCASM LYRICS WISE.HANDS DOWN THE BEST UNRATED LIVE RECORD
IVE HEARD IN A WHILE,I THINK BETTER THAN MOST LIVE ALBUMS BY BANDS TODAY CUZ TODAY'S GARBAGE IS NOTHING COMPARED TO DONUT'S MATERIAL. PROPERLY PACKAGED WASTE BOX OF NON CREATIVE ARTISTS
IS ALL WE SEE NOW. SO DO ME A FAVOR THROW UR T.V. OUT THE WINDOW AND CORPORATE ROCK CD'S OUT THE WINDOW AND REVAMP UR COLLECTION BY STARTIN WITH THIS CD AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT YOU SUCK DOGTURDS.
A better live album?.......2001-01-21
Nope. This is a masterpiece. From the dubbed in Frampton style crowd noises to man screaming at the auidience to drink robitusin, this album is king. And the music kicks A*s!!! You'll like this one.
Live versions of their best stuff.......1999-05-17
I will keep this short and simple. This is Alice Donut as they should be heard to really appreciate them...LIVE AND RAW!!!!!I have been a fan since 1987 and this is one of the best and funniest live albums I ave ever heard.GET THIS NOW!!!!!!
