5 out of 5 stars This album is a classic for any music lover........2004-01-14

I first heard the album version of this CD in the late '80's. I was blown away from the first note. Not only does PT Gazell show an amazing mastery of his instrument and his talent, but he is complemented on this recording by a young Jerry Douglas and a young Ricky Skaggs. This is an example of three world class players tearing up everything they go after. The album is pure bluegrass. When it's fast it's supersonic, when it's slow, it's mournful and soulful, and when it wants to have fun, it's a hoot. Individually all three men are soloist beyond comparison, together their ensemble playing is flawless. I can not recomend a CD more fervantly than this one. It will be especially good for all the "new" bluegrass fans and musicians who have been introduced to the form thanks to the Coen brothers. This is the sort of album/CD every music lover must have in his collection. It is timeless and priceless. PT Gazell is one of the great secrets of the music world. Not knowing PT's talent is like not knowing of Miles Davis or Benny Goodman. The re-release of this album should let that secret out of the bag.
