At his best, as exemplified by his 1999 megahit "How Do You Like Me Now?!" Keith is simple and direct in the tradition of Hank Williams Jr.--aware of his limitations, able to thrive within them. "Courtesy of the Red, White and Blue (The Angry American)" struck a chord, though it differed little from the fist-shaking morale-boosters of previous wars. On the downside, Keith's formulaic tendencies can become tiresome, as it did on "My List," a generic celebration of life's mundane treasures. Sales notwithstanding, "Beer for My Horses" was no artistic landmark for Keith or duet partner Willie Nelson. By contrast, he and daughter Krystal have fun with the 1963 Inez and Charlie Foxx R&B hit "Mockingbird" (first revived by James Taylor and Carly Simon). "Go With Her" injects a different spin into the time-honored breakup song, wittiness absent on the gimmicky "Stays in Mexico." Raucous live performances of "You Ain't Much Fun" and his debut hit, "Should've Been a Cowboy," reflect his ability to rouse the faithful into the obligatory singalong. --Rich Kienzle

Toby Keith's Greatest Hits 2.......2007-05-07
This one is my favorite Toby Keith CD. I like the others as well but I find I play Greatest Hits 2 more often.
Keep them coming...Keith.......2007-04-16
I bought this Greatest Hits 2 because it has a lot of my favorite songs on it. My favorites are: "How Do You Like Me Now"; "I'm Just Talkin' About Tonight"; "I Wanna Talk About Me"; "Beer For My Horses" duet with Willie Nelson; "Mockingbird" duet with Krystal; "You Ain't Much Fun"; and "Should've Been a Cowboy". I also like "Stays in Mexico". I had to buy another CD to get my very favorite "Big Blue Note". All in all this CD was well worth the money. By the way, I am a 67 year old grandma that loves country western music.
Toby Keith-Greatest Hits 2 CD.......2007-03-26
Received CD in new, perfect condition. Received item before expected! Thank you so much!
this man can sing his butt off........2007-03-08
with him mellow voice all the songs Toby sings; gives this woman the chrills; he is very nice looking. I think he is an easy going type guy; with the most wonderful voice...
Now, I do like you good!!!.......2007-02-24
Smashing. A top-notch selection of up-to-date hits (How do you like me now?, Who's your daddy?), a memory trip with "Should've been a cowboy", some food for thought (My List), duets with Krystal and Willie Nelson (real duets and not just them singing in the back) and plain good old country pieces where Toby Keith gets to display his wry humor, raising that knowing smile that echoes better than a guffaw. In sum, if you were considering to get it, don't hesitate any longer. Do it! You will definitely not regret it. There are no weak spots in this CD.

In the abstract, there are two Martina McBrides heard in this ample collection, which features 14 hits from the Kansas-born singer's studio albums, along with four inspired new cuts. At one extreme there's the demure cover-girl-pretty warbler who serves up fervent and endearing love pledges like "Wild Angels," "Safe in the Arms of Love," and "I Love You." Then there's the mature, poised, socially conscious mother of two who grapples with darker topics like poverty and inequality ("Love's the Only House") and child and spousal abuse (the wrathful "Independence Day" and the ineffably sad "Concrete Angel"). There are certainly impressive samples of both Martinas on this anthology. On other cuts--like the bluesy, naughty new track "When God-Fearin' Women Get the Blues" and the angry "Life #9"--the forces of light and darkness, anger and felicity, commingle in a manner that's no less intriguing and provocative. --Bob Allen
Customer Reviews:
Shows why Martina is a Star.......2007-07-09
This is a great collection of Martina's stuff through 2001. Martina has a powerhouse of a voice. This album was a big part in my coming to accept country singers, instead of just rock or pop. Here are just the best tunes:
My Baby Loves Me - great intro tune, a salute to unconditional love
Life #9 - another high energy hit. Martina tells roaming man he is down to his last chance
Independence Day - stirring song about tragic effects of domestic violence
Safe in the Arms of Love
Wild Angels
Happy Girl - very fun and energetic song
Whatever You Say
Love's the Only House - social commentary by Martina
When God Fearing Women Get the Blues - a funny and energetic song about a straight-laced woman who just cuts loose one day
With 19 songs, most of them winners, this CD is a great buy for the fan and an excellent intro to Martina and modern female country for others.
Martina's greatest hits.......2007-05-20
Country music is a genre I usually tend to avoid like the bubonic plague. I find the majority of it annoying to the nth degree. I will though make the rare occasion with Johnny Cash, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Kasey Chambers, Lucinda Williams, and Martina McBride. I will admit that at one point I even owned a couple of Martina's cds over the years before my musical tastes evolved into something edgier, darker, and more aggressive.
I recently got a hold of Martina's greatest hits from a several years ago. I almost forgot just how great of a singer she is compared to a lot of female artists nowadays (regardless of genre). I do though wish that "The Time has Come" from Martina's first album was on the album. Other than missing that particular song, I enjoyed listening to Martina's greatest hits especially "Independence Day" which for some ODD reason has kept Martina off some country radio's playlists to this very day. I guess the truth hurts. I am still emotionally moved by the lyrics. I don't know why since I have never been the victim of domestic abuse but the song resonates with me. I also still love "My Baby Loves Me" and "Safe in the Arms of Love" and "Wild Angels". As sappy as "Valentine" is, I actually like the song. Big guilty pleasure with me. A lot of the songs on the cd are new to me. I particularly like "Wrong Again". Great melodies.
What I like about Martina's music is that it is never obnoxiously twangy which is why I hate most country music. Martina really has great taste in picking which songs she will put on her albums. The heartfelt lyrics, catchy melodies, and her powerhouse vocals are an excellent combination.
New to country music.......2007-05-07
I am new to this genre of music, having some familiarity with Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, LeAnn Rimes, Shelby Lynn. I found Martina to have great vocals and sound. This ablum is highly recommended.
The World of McBride - Magnificent.......2007-04-20
For someone who isn't even much of a modern country-music fan, I was just blown away by the sheer artistry and song choice on this incredible Greatest Hits Compilation.
You know, Greatest Hits compilations are tricky things, because, as you may have personally experienced, they can sometimes be surprisingly bland and weak (Shania Twain's compilation for instance - why exactly was that album so boring), or unexpected gifts (like both of Tim McGraw's Hits Compilations - who knew he had such quality work under his belt?).
Martina's Greatest Hits CD falls firmly into the category of `classic'. I mean, theres just no other way to describe it. Granted, that rare `Hope Floats' track isn't there (and what a track that was!) but every other one of her amazing hits is here, alongwith 4 quality new tracks (though they DO pale in the face of her more critically successful work). The best songs here are of course "I Love You" and the incomparable "Independence Day".
The only `commercial' track here is "Valentine" with Jim Brickman (never can stand that song for some reason - too sappy), but this is all made up for by the other great torch songs Martina has sung.
Martina is more of a country vocalist than a country singer, which is why I guess the album is heavier on the slower songs. But not to worry, every song is a gem, and I whole-heartedly recommend this album to everyone, even if you're NOT a country fan.
This is the perfect road trip album. One of the few CDs you can play all the way through. I have it on my Itunes and its about the second or third album I've ever played all the way through without skipping tracks. Commendable!
OK CD VERY SLOW.......2007-04-17
THIS CD IS NOT MARTINAS BEST. I LIKE HER A LITTLE SO FOR ME I GUESS ITS THE FACT OF NOT BEING A BIG FAN. MY FAVORITE SONG ON THIS CD IS CONCRETE ANGEL.

In 1991 Garth Brooks did what no other country artist before had: he broke the million-seller mark with No Fences and solidified a string of No. 1 hits that also conquered the pop market. Fourteen of his No. 1s are here, including the rowdy working-class anthem "Friends in Low Places" and the signature power ballad "The Dance." All of Brooks's albums have their share of filler, but not this one. Even the toughest cynic will admire Brooks's charisma and deadly mastery of pop and country hooks. --Roy Kasten

TOP NOTCH!.......2007-06-08
For those of us who listen to Country Music , with the exception of maybe one or two more songs , this Collection is FANTASTIC!
The Master Of Self-Promotion.......2007-01-03
Love him or hate him, you have to admit that Garth Brooks knew how to sell himself to the masses. His career started out promising enough with his self-titled debut which included two of my personal favorites, "The Dance" and "Much Too Young (To Feel This Damn Old)." He followed that with the harbinger of things to follow, "No Fences," which included the tune that really put him on the map, the wonderful "Thunder Rolls," and the bar-friendly "Friends In Low Places." From there, Brooks' tunes took less of a personal and genuine turn and evolved into a hybrid of "what sells the most" and "what sounds most genuine to those outside of Country music."
Starting with the album, "Ropin' The Wind," Brooks began to crank out commercially successful, yet lyrically insignificant songs like "American Honky-Tonk Bar Association" and "Rodeo." He managed to fire off a couple of solid, meaningful songs like "Standing Outside The Fire" and "River," but most of his songs were fluff like "Ain't Goin' Down (Till The Sun Comes Up."
All of the aforementioned songs are available on "The Hits." It, much like every album after his first two, was also created to generate high, fast, and record-setting sales marks by having it put out in limited release. However, it's a very significant album in Country music history since it catalogs the first half of a career full of great promise (songs like "The Dance") and a huge ego (the forced-upon social tune, "We Shall Be Free"). It also signalled a turning point in Brooks' career with the release of even heavier commercial works such as "Fresh Horses" and "Sevens" after "The Hits" hit the store shelves.
Brooks' ego finally caught up with him with the abysmal "Chris Gaines" era. He suffered a huge commercial blow due to this experiment and he has never regained his status as a commercial star. However, this knock to the ego did result in the decent "Scarecrow" album, yet nothing has added up to the success of his pre-"The Hits" albums.
Brooks forever changed the face of Country music. He helped expose the world outside of Country music to great neo-traditional artists such as Alan Jackson and Vince Gill. He also helped pave the way for fluff acts like Tim McGraw and Kenny Chesney, who've managed to master Brooks' old formula of self-promotion.
From a blah cover like "Shameless" to a wonderful cover of "Callin' Baton Rouge," and every original hit and miss in between, "The Hits" is a crucial album to Country music history since it is a gathering of the best and worst of a true Country "performer" who single-handedly saved and destroyed real Country music.
I Love This CD.......2006-06-09
I absolutely loved this CD from Garth Brooks. Almost every song of his that I like is on this CD, and I can honestly listen to the whole CD and like all of the songs on it. This CD is a perfect mix of his classic songs, and I would definitly recommend this CD to anyone who is a Garth Brooks fan.
a must-own.......2006-06-03
Anyone who likes Garth Brooks will love this album. It contains many of his best songs, including "The Dance," "The River," "Unanswered Prayers," "Callin' Baton Rogue," "Standing Outside the Fire," and "Friends in Low Places." It is a perfect showcase for his music, and I thoroughly enjoy listening to it whenever I do. Even if you are not a fan, you will still enjoy it due to the perfection of song selection. If you can find it anywhere, get it. You will not regret it.
The King Of Music!.......2006-01-14
Garth Brooks is the greatest recording artist in music history. While some claim he never recaptured the magic of his first five albums, I disagree, "Sevens" was one of the best country albums of all time (released in 1997), and "Fresh Horses" was also pretty neat. (Tracks from these albums aren't included here).
If you can pick up a copy of "The Hit's" and haven't got his first five albums, then it may be well worth it, however copies are now selling for up to $100 to collectors, so it might be better off just buying his first five CD's, which are Garth Brooks (1989), No Fences (1990), Ropin' The Wind (1991), The Chase (1992) and In Pieces (1993), all of which are classic albums.
After you get them (or this hit's collection) and find yourself wanting more Garth, get Fresh Horses (1995) and Sevens (1997), Garth also has two Christmas albums, "Beyond The Season" and "The Magic Of Christmas", that are also worth getting.
My favorite Garth songs, at least from this hit's collection, are "Friends In Low Places", "Standing Outside The Fire", "American Honky Tonk Bar Association" and "The River".
Garth brought a new edge to country throughout the '90s, with a great live show and pop-rock influences, but he never forgot his home.
Another stand out cut is the gospel-folk tinged "We Shall Be Free", which is an even better statement that John Lennon's "Imagine".
This is the greatest of greatest hit's albums!

You don't have to get very far into Alan Jackson's splendid second anthology of hits before you're struck by how well the rangy Georgian has built his catalogue and how beautifully Keith Stegall continually produces his songs, filling the instrumental breaks with unexpectedly creative solos. While Jackson's choice of cover songs is usually inspired ("Pop-A-Top," "Little Bitty"), he's a deft writer, alternating his tongue-in-cheek, Sheriff Andy Taylor persona with his "just a singer of simple songs" earnestness, lacing it all with an unfettered delivery and a Haggardesque dedication to the bedrock honky-tonk sound. There are times when he edges too close to formula, running the romanticized, small-town, cornbread-and-chicken conceits ("Where I Come From") into the ground. But then he quickly redeems himself with a lip-tremblingly good "Drive" or "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)." This package consists of two discs, 16 hits and two new cuts filling the first and an unnecessary and somewhat inferior eight album tracks occupying the second. Of the two new songs, the emotional husband-and-wife ballad "Remember When" handily outdistances the too-trite "It's Five O'Clock Somewhere" with perennial smart-ass Jimmy Buffett. Jackson's too good an artist to settle for such an easy reach, but hey, let's cut him a little slack. He's paid his dues. --Alanna Nash

So many hits he has to put out a second greatest hits CD?!? What a stud! This is one of those CDs that you can just leave in your CD player and let it go all day. I never get tired of any of the tracks. This is definitely one of my favority CDs!

remarkable.......2006-11-02
This is a tremendous album with some terrific songs on it. It truly defines the term "greatest hits album." Some of my favorite songs on it include "Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning," "Where I Come From," "Little Man," "The Blues Man," "Little Bitty," and "Right on the Money." I listen to this every chance I get and do not regret buying it. It is one of my favorite CDs. Anyone who is an Alan Jackson fan will love this album. I recommend it. Of all the songs on it "World" is the most important I think.
AWESOME... review by a musician.......2006-10-21
I am not a die hard country fan in the sense that I listen to a variety of music. However, this album is exceptional and ranks among my favorites. Every song on here is a blockbuster and each of them has a great story behind it. The musicianship is excellent and the arrangements are not canned. Alan Jackson comes across as warm, sincere, engaging and definitely in the groove with his band. In my opinion, there is not one song on here that is a filler, although I do like a few songs less than others. I think this CD is the ONE to own, if you can resist buying more. However, Jackson is a real phenomenon and one of the top talents to come on to the country stage. He has the awards to prove it, but this album proves it with sound. Listen to the samples below and you will hear for yourself. His presence on this album comes across strong and through a good stereo even more so. I've listened to this over and over and have never grown tired of the music. Enjoy!

As a survey of Toby Keith's first four recordings (not including the seasonal Christmas to Christmas), this set turns in some strong singles, making the case for the Okie singer-songwriter as one of the more traditionally minded of the '90s hat acts. Keith rarely devastates as a singer, but he never overreaches, and there's more than a bit of grit in his delivery of "Should've Been a Cowboy" and "He Ain't Worth Missing." His emotional triumph remains the obsessive "Who's That Man," in which Keith sees another man living the life he threw away. Keith also includes two songs not available elsewhere, complementing an appealing mainstream country set. --Roy Kasten

it's a TOBY KEITH greatest hits; no reason but that to buy it; we love Toby
It made me a fan.......2006-08-08
I puchased this Toby Keith album because I was given tickets to see him in concert and didn't know even one of his songs. I became a fan of Toby's soon after listening to this CD. Although he talks through a lot of "Getcha Some", it's become of my favorites out of the fourteen tracks. "You Ain't Much Fun" is an awesome song, even if the message isn't very considerate. This album is a great collection of country!
Awesome.......2006-07-14
I not a HUGE country fan but I like some of it. Toby Keith's greatest hits volume one is AWESOME!!! There isn't one song on the cd that I don't love to listen to over and over again! My autistic son who hates almost ALL music LOVES #10 LOL. We put it on repeat in the car!!!

WOW...more than ONE song on here makes it worth owning!!! I sooo wish Toby would go back to this type of music. The last couple years his music has gone downhill BIG time!

This is just a small sample of what he is capable of. There are a lot of great hits on this including "Dream Walkin" and "Should have been a cowboy". My favorite is "A little less talk and a lot more action". Definitely put this in your collection. It's worth it.

As a superstar who's revered by both the young country audience and traditionalists, Alan Jackson is at his finest when he's steers clear of trifles like "Chattahoochie" and takes those younger fans to school. Here he does just that by paying respects to Hank ("Midnight in Montgomery"), swearing allegiance to George Jones ("Don't Rock the Jukebox"), and calling out all those newcomers who've decided it's time to get twangy now that country's hot ("Gone Country"). All of it pales next to "Here in the Real World," however, as perfect a honky-tonk weeper as mainstream Nashville has produced in 30 years. --David Cantwell

As I've seen with every order....absolutely excellent quality. Can't get better.
impressive.......2006-11-02
Alan Jackson is a true country singer who sticks to traditional country songs. This album features many of those songs such as "Midnight in Montgomery," "Chasin' That Neon Rainbow," "Don't Rock the Jukebox," and "Tall Tall Trees." It features a very impressive collection of songs that will go down as some of the greatest ever recorded. I rank this as one of my favorite albums, and I'm glad I got it. AJ is truly a great singer. If you can find this album, get it!

Is there a more dependable hit-making duo in music than Brooks & Dunn? Not likely. Since their debut album in 1991, Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn--two middling solo artists who turned out to be dynamite once paired together by a savvy record executive--have charted consistently with songs of various tempos and temperaments. There's smooth pop (a cover of the '70s rock hit "My Maria"), hard-charging honky-tonk ("Hard Workin' Man"), thoughtful ballads ("She Used to Be Mine"), and the line-dancing craze's very own Rosetta stone ("Boot Scootin' Boogie"). The Greatest Hits Collection gathers 16 of the duo's best-known songs, plus three new tracks, "Honky Tonk Truth," "He's Got You," and "Days of Thunder." --Daniel Durchholz

Brooks & Dunn Greatest Hits.......2007-05-13
the Title says it all
BROOKS & DUNN
marvelous album.......2006-11-04
This album features many of Brooks and Dunn's biggest hits from their early years, and there were some impressive selections. I think the main highlight is Ronnie Dunn hitting the ultra-high notes on "My Maria," and his tenor is well featured on other songs like "Boot Scootin' Boogie," "Neon Moon," and "She Used to be Mine." Kix Brooks also gets his chops in on songs like "Rock My World (Little Country Girl)" and "You're Gonna Miss Me When I'm Gone." This was remarkable in every sense of the word. Any Brooks & Dunn fan will love this album. I guarantee it. It ranks as one of my all-time favorite albums, and quite possibly my favorite from this duo. Get it!!!
Sinple and straight forward well done country music.......2006-03-30
Brooks & Dunn are more or less straight forward country, and most of the time it works quite well. This hit collection does not dissapoint if you look for well cooked bits of "yiaahaaaa jambalaya country music". Track 1 My Maria has the right ingredients on the "menu", well composed soundpicture that`s not overkilled, either by too much or too soon. Just earpleasin` simpel country music.Track 2 Honky tonk truth is an ok fastback, hardtop, sprinter from the country department. Easy done`, and easily forgotten. Track 3 Your`e gonna miss me when your`e gone, is more interesting, with it`s walkalong speed. Relaxable and a cool listen this one. with a certain early "Eagles" touch , which lift`s this one above average.Track 4 Boot scootin Boogie is boogie ok, but it doesn`t kick ass as good boogie should. Track 5 He`s got you. A stream of cliches. A boore and below average. To pompouse in a way. Track 6 Hard workin man, is an upspeeded rocker, which this time kick`s some ass and probably some dust out from your ears. Great piano plunkin` here and there too.Track 7 That Ain't No Way To Go, is down in the "country cellar" once again. Theres not to much shimmer to lift it up below average. Track 8 Rock my world (little country girl) is a weird hybrid inbetween rock/blues/and country. Sounds ok, but nothing special. Track 9 Neon moon, is more in the "slow movin department" of the country music. It`s lighthearted, but very cliche ridden alltrough. Track 10 Lost and found, is nothing very special but some guitar "riffs and raffs" here and there makes it to a good listen. Track 11 She`s not the cheatin kind. Good singing on this one, but it stamps`around with the same theme over and over again. Track 12 Brand new man is a let down, and have much of the same problems as the previous one. Track 13 That Ain't No Way To Go . Well im totally agreed. Nothing special, and no thunder at all. Track 14. We`ll burn the bridge is an ok honky tonk rocker, but nothin special to write home about, but the fiiddle solo is ok for a change. Track 15 She used to be mine is a slow country ballad. Glimmers warm and bright most of the time.
Track 16 Mama Don't Get Dressed Up For Nothing is a messy bore, and that`s it folks. Track 17 My next broken heart is in the "bakersfield tradition" but sound`s like poor man`s "Dwight Yoakam" and that`s not a quality mark, but glimmers here and there, but that`s not enough. Track 18 Whiskey under the bridge, is more in the same tradition but it`s more uptempo beat, which works ok all trough. Drinkin``
good song. Track 19 Little missy honky tonk closed the show, and is one of the best tracks, which has classical honky tonk ingredients, and a pumping thumping piano playin here and there which lifts it solid above average. Anyways this is simple and straight well done country music.
insanely good.......2004-12-05
This is truly one of the best, most universally liked greatest hits compilations ever. People who don't like country like this album and (here's where it differentiates itself from, for instance, Kenny Chesney's greatest hits) people who DO like REAL country like this album, as well. Brooks & Dunn have their own sound, and they work within it wonderfully. Ronnie Dunn is a fine vocalist... one of the best. I decline comment on Kix's singing. Kix and Ronnie divide up singing duties pretty evenly on their regular albums, but on this greatest hits collection only a few Kix cuts appear, while the bulk of the album is dominated by Ronnie. You may draw your own conclusions. Again, Ronnie is a fine singer, and the album as a whole is infinitely enjoyable.

East Tennessee-born singer Kenny Chesney has, in the course of his relatively brief career, proven to be an unremarkable but thoroughly competent singer who shows occasional flashes of brilliance when teamed with the right song. That happens roughly half the time on this 17-cut compilation disc, which, despite its title, actually includes four new songs, one rerecording, and a remix. Amid soppy country-pop chart fodder ("Me and You," "When I Close My Eyes") and second-rate ditties ("How Forever Feels," "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy"), Chesney hits his stride on robust country ballads like "You Had Me from Hello" and the lead single "I Lost It." On other gems--like "That's Why I'm Here," a heartfelt tribute to the Alcoholics Anonymous 12-step program that topped the charts a while back; "Baptism," a great duet with Randy Travis; and his fine rerecording of "Tin Man," the song that launched his career in the mid '90s--Chesney even manages to attain an ephemeral but utterly moving transcendence over his vocal limitations and sometimes questionable song choices. --Bob Allen

Greatest Hits Kwnny Chesney.......2007-06-12
Once again, I wasn't disappointed with this CD from Kenny Chesney. The songs are familiar and grouped together well. If you're a fan of Kenny. by all means I definitely suggest you get it. If you're not a diehard fan yet, you will be! Some of my friends who are more into rock, heard it in my car and we're now all going to his concert in August in Chicago. Three are now buying his CD's. He's a little of country-rock and all entertainment! His joy of music comes through on most of his songs and his talent is unbelieveable!
You won't be disappointed!!!!!.......2007-05-22
I became a HUGH Kenny fan after his hit "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy". Yes...it's not the brightest title or song, but when Kenny sings it...the fact that I think he's the hottest thing EVER doesn't hurt! My husband thinks I'm insane, but even he agrees that he's an awesome singer with a great voice!
Kenny Chesney - Greatest Hits.......2007-01-09
I already knew this was a great CD so I bought it as a Christmas present. It was a hit!! The CD was a favorite and came in perfect condition and came very fast.
Good stuff.......2007-01-03
I like Chesney, but I'm not a big fan and I generally dislike the modern Nashville sound, so please don't take my opinion and rating as the best informed. It made sense to buy his greatest hits because I hadn't bought his original albums that had them. That said, this is a pleasant sound, well performed, and anytime you play Chesney all the women in the room are happy, so its worth the purchase. The addition of some new material, a remix and live versions indicates better than average effort for a "Best of" album.
I love it!!.......2006-12-09
I didn't have anything of his and I wanted something new so I tried it. I was NOT disappointed!!

Anyone who is still clueless about what a great singer Ronnie Dunn is need only grab this second greatest-hits package from Brooks & Dunn, a 17-song compilation that skims the commercial high points from the duo's 1998-2004 period. Dunn, the quintessential balladeer, soars on honky-tonk laments and reminiscences like "Red Dirt Road" and "How Long Gone," and on full-throated romantic plaints like "That's What She Gets for Loving Me" and "It's Getting Better All the Time." His sidekick, the underrated guitarist, utility singer, and all-around dynamo Kix Brooks, also gets his moment to shine on a marvelous '60s-style, 18-wheeler ditty called "Independent Trucker," one of three new cuts included here. --Bob Allen

Real Country.......2007-04-12
It's amazing to think they have more than enough for another greatest hits compilation! Full of originals that will always be greatest hits.
something missing .......2007-02-16
Ok, you see two stars up there and you start thinking to yourself "what
could possibly be wrong with this album" Well, there is something wrong
with this album. If you do not believe me then look it up for yourself.
This does have great songs on here and all of their hits to mention that.
But I just noticed something, and I have had this album for a year or
two. There is three songs that is not on here that was hits on the radio.
They might not have been big hits, but they did get air play. (missing
you) from their "tight rope" album (you'll always be loved by me) from
their "tight rope" album and (I am that man) from the "boarderline" album.
Brooks And Dunn - always Great!.......2007-01-09
I love this cd and all the songs on it! There is a great variety of their style music for all to enjoy. I would be hardpressed to find a favorite! I have other cd's of theirs and they are all good - including the Christmas cd. If you are a fan of theirs you will really enjoy this cd!
impressive/holds its own.......2006-11-04
While this collection doesn't quite hold up to the duo's first greatest hits compilation, it is still good. Hits like "How Long Gone," "The Long Goodbye," and "South of Santa Fe" are good choices for this album, which pretty much holds its own. If you are a fan of Brooks & Dunn, odds are you will like this album. The duo is still good after all these years, and I hope whey will continue for many more.
Great collection and service........2005-09-06
I was very pleased with the cd and the prompt service I received.

Clint Black is often an amazing songwriter with one of the best pure voices in contemporary country music. However, since his impressive debut, Killin' Time, Black seems to have grown increasingly more attached to clever word play and abstract ideas than he is to emotion and narrative. And when the songs are as awful as "A Bad Goodbye" (an overwrought 1993 duet with Wynonna), who cares how good his voice is? The Greatest Hits collects, seemingly at random, 14 of his Top 10 hits released between 1989 and 1996, plus an album track and a live Eagles cover. However, it omits at least 10 singles from that period that were every bit as popular and, unfortunately, most of them were from his superior earlier years. Still, any album that includes "A Better Man" (a modern country masterpiece), "We Tell Ourselves" (an idea song that works), and "Put Yourself in My Shoes" (as good a male vocal performance as Nashville has heard in 15 years) can hardly be called bad. But it sure can be called disappointing. --David Cantwell

CLINT BLACKS GREATEST.......2007-02-04
What can you say about his amazing voice combining with the talent of Wynonna Judd? This is an awesome cd.
great!.......2006-11-04
Clint Black is truly a great singer. This album showcases a good collection of his greatest hits. My favorites include "State of Mind," "A Good Run of Bad Luck," "A Bad Goodbye," "A Better Man," "We Tell Ourselves," "Life Gets Away," and "No Time to Kill." (not to put down the other songs of course) Any fan of Clint will find much to enjoy on this terrific album. I am very glad I bought it, and I knew what I was doing when I did.
pretty good.......2006-05-15
i like quite a few of the songs on this cd and that is rare. i bought it mainly for Desperado and Like the Rain, but most all of them are good
Some light shines trough, country music that just kick a little........2006-01-06
Clint Black greatest hits ? Not much to write home about, sorry to say. It`s realy a downfall his version of the Eagles master peace Desperado. Sometimes everything goes wrong here, especially his voice. But anyway let`s take a look at the bright side on this album. The best songs are Track 15 No Time to Kill, which have a certain sting to it when it comes to
singing capacity and country flavour. Track 14 Life gets away also is a good listen, an has hit poential. It sounds like belive it not like the The Cure crossover with country music.
Track 11 Cadilack Jack Favor also have some charm.
Track 8 We tell Ourselves swings a little bit too. Track 6 A better man has quality and "swing along". Track 2 Summers Commin kick a little , but the rest of the tracks don`t make
me feel "country halleluja", sorry to say. Clint Black is not up there with Alan Jackson and Garth Brooks.
The Greatest Stinks Collection!!!!.......2005-12-31
This is a MAJOR let down to me. If these are his greatests then I'm going to stop buying his music. Seriously, if you like country music don't let this guy spoil it for you. DO NOT BUY THIS CD!! Get Randy Travis instead.
