Customer Reviews:
Being Observed- "that's just how I feel, Mom!".......2007-01-10
Our daughter is a 4th year teacher who puts her whole heart into teaching, but dreads being observed. The song on this CD made her cry because it expressed just how she feels- observers tell her she is a remarkable teacher, but she is sure they will say she's no good!
We knew she would like this CD as she raved over the first one.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A TEACHER.......2006-02-19
You don't have to be a teacher to enjoy this album. We all have classroom memories that will be stirred by the selections. We have teachers than have inspired us; we perhaps have even known our own "Bill, the janitor." The vocal quality is superb; the sound quality is excellent. This is probably the best gift you could give to a teacher, or to anyone who loves kids. If you buy one as a gift for your favorite teacher, just make sure you have one to keep for yourself.
Another Great Mix for Teachers...........2006-01-08
Judy has done it again!! She has taken those experiences common to all teachers and made them enjoyable and humorous in her songs....If you need a laugh and a little stress relief....just pop in her CD...instant P.D.for the teacher in all of us!!!
A HILARIOUS WINNER!.......2005-12-08
As a fellow educator, TEACHER OF THE YEAR makes me take a more objective--and humorous--view of myself and my vocation. Judy is able to take the joys, sorrows, and frustrations of teaching and set them in such a light that you remember why you went into education in the first place. TEACHER OF THE YEAR is a motivator and a hilarious winner!
And the true songs about teaching just keep coming!.......2005-12-01
"Teacher Therapy" was a great album, so how could Mrs. Bowen top or equal it? By coming up with a whole batch of new songs that continue to be the best discription of what being a teacher is all about, that's how! If you are a teacher, this is the newest and most delightfully funny, honest, and genuine view of classroom teaching you could possibly find. And if you know a teacher and are searching for a gift that will be most appreciated, this is it.

Fusion-rock that establishes a good groove.......2004-10-24
Playing Time - 64:26 -- Acoustic Syndicate's second album on the Sugar Hill label continues their journey into a zone that is best characterized as fusion-rock. Really not so acoustic as their name may imply, the band seems to be gravitating towards a more danceable, electric sound. Since their last album, Acoustic Syndicate has added Jeremy Saunders on saxaphone. The rest of the band is Steve McMurry (guitar, vocals), Bryon McMurry (banjo, vocals), Fitz McMurry (percussion, vocals), and Jay Sanders (bass). Special guests include Aaron Price (piano, organ) and Mars Farris (electric guitar, National steel on the opening cut).
The genesis of Acoustic Syndicate may be, in part, due to their association with producer and Texas music legend Lloyd Maines. Their musical maturity has taken them into energetic rock, rhythm & blues, reggae and jazz. I don't hear many bluegrass or folk influences on "Long Way Round." At the nucleus of Acoustic Syndicate's songs are Steve McMurry's lead vocals and guitar playing. With the exception of the title cut written by Larry Keel, Steve and his cousins wrote all of the material on this project. Standouts are "Talk," "The Blue Bird Train," "They Come This Way," "Bound", "and "Been There Again." A few of the cuts span nearly seven minutes apiece, and could have resulted in "Hypocrite Smile," "The Pilot," and "A Prayer for Solace" bordering on tedium but the band's extended breaks, changes in dynamics, and the McMurry's harmonies pull these lengthy numbers off successfully. "The Pilot" is a tribute to John Hartford. A little more of Bryon's dobro in the mix of "A Prayer for Solace" would have been nice.
Acoustic Syndicate establishes a good groove. They refuse to be constrained by musical sideboards, and their growth has taken them further into the realm of rock. Perhaps they'd be better named Electric Syndicate. Steve McMurry once called their music "an accidental evolution," and it has drawn comparisons to Blues Traveler, Bruce Hornsby, early Dave Matthews Band, and Widespread Panic. Their danceable signature vibe has a little banjo, mandolin and dobro in the mix, but it's predominantly electric instruments and drums. (Joe Ross, staff writer, Bluegrass Now)

Customer Reviews:
Lovely music!.......2001-12-18
These CDs are for lovers of Irish music and of the "old-timey" sound of John McCormack. The songs themselves are lovely, and James Flannery sings them exactly as they need to be sung... in a simple and straightforward manner. The music is evocative of the sound and spirit of a long-ago time. The accompanying book gives interesting background information about Thomas Moore and also about the songs. Good listening for a rainy day or a snowy night with the fire blazing.

A high-spirited musical eclecticism sparks this concert recording, as virtuoso flat-picking guitarist Doc Watson teams with Frosty Morn, the group formed by Watson's late son Merle in the mid-1970s. Merle Watson started Frosty Morn to play a wider range of material than he and Doc generally performed, and the band frequently toured as the Watsons' concert opener. For this reunion, which features Doc's grandson Richard in his father Merle's spot, the selection ranges from the traditional spiritual "Walking in Jerusalem" to the pop standard "Sincerely" to the Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" (Doc proclaims himself a huge fan). Mainly, though, the set showcases Doc's proficiency and the group's interplay on various other shades of blues--from Mississippi John Hurt's "CC Rider" and Mance Lipscomb's "Sugar Babe" to Merle Haggard's "Working Man Blues" and Jimmie Rodgers's "Jimmie's Mean Mamma Blues." Though Frosty Morn disbanded after Merle's fatal car accident in 1985, the storytelling and songs of their annual reunion keep his musical memory alive. --Don McLeese

Carillon.......2006-07-31
Exactly what I was looking for. Good quality reproduction, which isn't always possible. Some content I wasn't looking for, but generally good selections.
British Bells.......2001-11-12
A delightful carillon recording, although I think I would have enjoyed it more if I knew some of the British folk tunes played. The CD is made interesting by including five different British carillons and five carillonneurs, the best being Trevor Workman. Also included is a track of domestic clocks playing the familiar "Westminster" chimes, and the very unfamiliar "Cambridge" chimes, plus a cuckoo clock!
Corrections to Amazon's data.......1999-06-26
Title is simply "Carillon Bells of Britain". Performers are "Aldington, Gebruers, Leith, Stratfold, Workman"

Josie Kuhn.......2006-04-12
I had the very good fortune of hearing Josie Kuhn play live. She is incredible. She writes from her heart and soul and has never received the visibility she is so deserving of. Her other 3 CD's are amazing (especially La Luna Loca) and why she is not up there with the likes of Bonnie Raitt is beyond me
