Oh, my GOD!
I haven't stopped listening to this cd since I purchased it.
It's like crack for the ears! This CD is highly addictive!
I love his jazz, pop, soul, and country, combo!
You just don't hear good music like this anymore!
My favorite song is "mississippi river girl", but all of the songs are amazing!!
This passes for funk and soul now? .......2006-04-08
First and formost... White guys can NOT sing soul music. They don't have the charisma or the vocal rhythm to do it. This is just more extremely slick pop music.
Where is the fire and passion?
Don't let his look fool you!.......2006-03-07
LOVE HIS VOICE!!! It pulls you in and makes you listen to what he is singing and I like that!!!
Love this CD.......2006-02-24
Josh Kelley's cd Almost Honest is one of the best I've heard in awhile. He has a little bit of something for everyone to enjoy. I know its on heavy repeat in my apartment!

outstanding - honestly.......2006-08-06
A friend turned me on to the live in Kingston cd and I was blown away. The song Honest Hour was the total hook for me - the lyrics are so descriptive and everthing flows to perfection. Great band - great album - great sound. Smooth - awesome - eclectic - down home - good time toe tapping - knee slapping put a grin on your face music.
My favorite cd I have bought in 6 months.......2006-02-07
This cd is just great. The Paul Henry and Speculator are outstanding. It truly is "An Honest Hour" of music. Assembly of Dust is where it's at.
One of those CDs you can play the whole way through.......2006-01-25
I had heard some Strangefolk before, so some songs were familiar to me (like Speculator). That being said, you don't need any jamband background to appreciate this CD.
The tones of each song distinguish themselves. Reid Genauer is an incredible songwriter. Nate Wilson is one of the best piano players out there in my opinion. SOngs like "Honest Hour", "Roads", and "Man with a Plan" make the CD.
If there was a 6 star rating, I would give it.
One of my BEST purchases of 2005.......2006-01-23
Radio in Key West, Florida is really bad...R-E-A-L-L-Y bad.
Now I have satellite radio...and life is good.
Anyway, I was jamming out and working on my computer, and this really killer song came on ("roads"...track 4). I was listening to the "Jam On" station, which really isn't my thing, but I can dig it now and again (I like to keep an open mind with all types music).
In this case, what was coming out of my speakers wasn't "Jam Bandish"...it was just beautiful music, plus it totally rocked.
I stopped what I was doing and just sat their blown away and fired up. That usually doesn't happen to me during a "first listen".
I typed them into Amazon to read what the customers had to say, and at that time, was surprised to find only two reviews(both 5 stars)so I thought "what the heck", shelled out some cash, and the rest is history.
I've turned this album on to so many people...and they love it.
It's fun music, and it has to be one of the best Live performances I have ever heard.
If you are open to good music...take a chance and give this album a shot. I am a critical S.O.B. when it comes to music and I proudly give this one 5 stars.
They don't make 'em like this anymore.......2005-12-31
The hook-filled first two songs, which got some airplay on our local AAA station, grabbed me like few others have in recent years. The rest of the CD is just as good. Superior songwriting and very tight ensemble performances all the way through. Until you hear the crowd reaction between songs you can easily forget this is a live album. I was immediately reminded of The Band -- Reid Gennauer's plaintive voice has some elements of both Rick Danko and Levon Helm and the harmonies are similar, plus the lyrics evoke Robbie Robertson's heartland-inspired classics. Mortality, fate and honor are handled with skill and humor. There are also echoes of Bruce Hornsby (particularly on Speculator) and some nimble guitar reminscent of Dickey Betts. I have heard other live recordings of this band, which are freely available, and I think they really are this good live without any studio sweetening. An honest hour of intelligent, unpretentious and spirited music. Highly recommended.

Utter Garbage.......2005-09-20
This is total dross, to compare them to The Dropkick Murphys or Flogging Molly is an insult to both these bands.
If they came anywhere near Scotland and performed like this they would be flung off the top of Edinburgh Castle and then shot at with the one o'clock gun.
Pity you couldn't get no stars.
Fire the singer.......2005-03-26
That's not singing. It sound like geese farts on a foggy day.
Awesome!!.......2004-12-28
This CD was really awesome! Loch'd and Loaded is a great Real McKenzies album and has a cool name...yeah, I thought it was much better than Oot and Aboot.
Loch'd Loaded and Ready to Rock.......2004-05-11
Plainly put, a great CD. A great blend of traditional Scottish and modern punk style. I truly enjoy the blend of thoughtful lyrics with the pipes and metal. This is one of the CDs I will play before every Highland Game and St. Patricks Day! My favorite songs on the album are "Scots Around The World" and "Swords of a Thousand Men", these reinforce "The Blood is Strong".
Bagpipes and Guitars.......2004-03-25
If you like the more melodic 'Dropkick Murphys' songs and enjoy the combination of Bagpipes and Power Guitars, then look no further: This CD has all these elements : Great Sing-along choruses, high speed guitars and lots of Bagpipes. I actually like the vocals better than 'Flogging Molly', and even there is still a bit of room to improve on the songwriting in my opinion, I strongly recommend buying this album. It is just pure fun!

upbeat annoying songs we heard before.......2007-05-09
this band gives me a headache... this stuff reminds me of the the loud obnoxious kid in class that can't shutup.. but thats probably the appeal.. give me two tylenol please.
Sarah Michelle Gellar is hot........2004-04-30
Well, she is. That's all I wanted to say. This album is awesome, though. Most of the songs are really rockin'. It's a fun album that's appropriate for every occasion... even changing Grandma's diaper.
A good album with a couple of great songs.......2003-11-24
Nerf Herder, best known for having performed the theme song for BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER (they were also the band that performed in The Bronze the last time it appeared in an episode of Buffy), is actually a pretty decent band. To continue on the Buffy theme, they do songs that pretty much like what you would imagine "The Three" from Season Six would have written. In other words, they are practitioners of Nerd Rock, not quite as accomplished as Fountains of Wayne, but not at all bad. Most of the songs on the album are at least listenable, and I don't think anyone who enjoys alternative rock would dislike this album at all. It won't be the best album in your collection, but neither would it be your worse.
There is, however, one thing that tempers my recommendation, and that is the presence of two of my favorite comic songs of recent years. Although many of the cuts on the album are excellent--"Rock City News" and "New Wave Girl" both stand out--two songs are classics in the making: "Mr. Spock" and "Jenna Bush Army." The former is the ultimate nerd love lament. The singer upbraids his would-be girl because no guy is good enough for her except for Mr. Spock. Yeah, that Mr. Spock, the pointy ears Vulcan from STAR TREK. The second verse is as surreal and strange as any in rock. The singer explains that Capt. Kirk descended to a planet's surface to fight the Man Lizard (a reference to an episode where Kirk engages in gladiator-like combat with a powerfully built reptilian humanoid, and defeats him when he reinvents gunpowder) and in defeating him saves all the lives of the Enterprise, at which point in the song the singer screams accusingly: "But that's just not good enough for you. Is it?" I play this song for friends, and they just shake their head in disbelief. By the way, when I say Nerf Herder was the last band to play in The Bronze on Buffy, this was the song they performed.
The other future classic is "Jenna Bush Army," which despite being about one of the president's two twin daughters is amazingly nonpolitical. Jenna, if one recalls, is the one who was arrested for underage drinking, and perhaps that misstep is why she because the subject for the song rather than her sister. Basically, the song is a nerd drooling over what he perceives to be a hot looking gal, and the closest the song gets to politics is his singing that being a hormonally challenged young male he will vote with his groin ("Sir I'm horny/And I vote"). It is a pretty hysterical song.
So, I suppose whether I recommend this album to someone depends on whether one is looking for an album that is great all the way through, or merely decent at its low points, better at others, and phenomenal only a couple of times. Personally, I wouldn't want to do without an album with two songs as good as "Mr. Spock" or "Jenna Bush Army," but other might. Definitely a fun party album.
cheese and giraffes (giraffes was entirely off-topic).......2003-11-08
I first decided to purchase this cd because there was a slice of american cheese on the cover...yes, that's the honest truth, I am a bit of a cheese (like actually cheese, that comes from like cows who have like 4 stomachs) fanatic and well, there it was blatantly staring me in the face saying "buy me, buy me...please?" So, I bought it... and it doesn't suck. Well, it sucks if you're into complex, beautiful poetry lyrics or sad, depressing lyrics, or country, or jazz, or well, a lot of other genres besides alternative rock infused with comedy (which is like the soul of nerf herder, I'm sure).
Through all the hilarity of Mr. Spock, Welcome to my world (or as I like to call it, "the song that makes me want to watch Mr. belvedere"), and Jenna Bush Army, there are those redundant boring songs like Rock City News and Jacket and Defending the Faith (which aren't even really that bad unless you have freakishly high standards for your music) that I swear are the same song with entirely different lyrics, themes, beat, etc. So, yeah (I swear it makes sense, just think about it). Overall I think this is a great album especially if you want to laugh and feel like you are sharing one big inside joke with the band Nerf Herder.

Album Description
"...Infinite possibility, if I can only break down this fourth wall/I'm living in a room for everyone, finding my space under the sun..."and so goes the title track of Ari Gold's sophomore release, Space Under Sun (Released Nov 2003, independently over the internet on Gold 18 Records). In a market saturated with manufactured stars who for the most part are perfectly content churning out the same old cliché's, Gold is determined to shake pop up and find a space for his music in a postmodern world. "I wanted to make an album that I didn't have when I was growing up," Ari told Larry Flick of Billboard magazine in 2001 regarding his first album as an openly gay pop singer which would later take home the Outmusic Award for Outstanding Debut Recording. With Space Under Sun Gold goes even further musically & lyrically and creates a pop landscape that goes beyond boundaries and labels.
After landing on Top Of The Pops with DJ Luck and MC Neat on the UK single, "I'm All About You" (Island Universal) co-written and produced by hitmaker Desmond Child, Gold began working on Space Under Sun. He collaborated with top notch industry songwriters and producers such as Peter Amato (Leanne Rimes), Marsha Malamet (Luther Vandross, Chaka Khan), MAJOR (Lamya), Mr. Khalil (Res), Steve Skinner (Rent, Bette Midler), Soong Lee (Allure) recording all over the globe from Atlanta, Miami, LA and NYC to London and Israel. Gold describes the album as "an intergalactic hybrid of 80's and contemporary R&B, spacey pop, and funky smooth soul." Gay City News stated that "Gold pushes the envelope as much as a rapper like Eminem does." Although instead of lyrics that are fag bashing and woman hating, the subject matter ranges from a guy and a girl (Kendra Ross, currently featured on the latest CD by Talib Kweli) fighting over the same man ("He's On My Team") to getting caught having sex in public with another man by the cops ("Caught), to diva worship ("Fan-tastic"), a matter that is crucial to many a gay man's evolution, seeking independence and self actualization ("More Than Enough," "Back To me") to romantic and sexual intimacy ("Funk That Ship," "Intimate.") There is also the tender ballad "Bashert (Meant To Be) in which Gold incorporates his Jewish identity of having grown up as an orthodox Jew. The 13 track CD includes a downloadable music video of "Wave Of You" directed by Guy Guido which was shot as a tribute to the late great photographer Herb Ritts as well as an mp3 of "Review My Kisses" a song co-written and produced by Desmond Child. Gold will continue performing in NYC where Time Out magazine said that he was a "smash success...wowing the local music scene" and Backstage called his musicianship, "flawless" as well as around the globe to promote his new CD.

One Of The Worst..........2007-03-06
This is truely one of the worst Cd's I have ever listened too. Sure it's great that he is gay and actually singing about being gay rahter than closeting himself, but that does not make for a great CD. The songs are generic and bland with no beat whatsoever, his voice is weak and emotionless, and the lyrics are chessy silliness. The hooks themselves don't even exsist. Once I got to the train wreck that was He's On My Team, (a lame version of The Boy Is Mine by Brandy and Monica), I knew there was no hope. Stay away from this CD at all costs. Not even one song was ok to listen too. I hope he gets better material next time because I do want to be a fan of his, but this is trash.

Excellent up and coming artist. Heartfelt songs updated for a new generation. Great beat and definately a sing a long CD. A+
Ari is Gold.......2006-08-23
Ari Gold's Space under Sun CD is truly delightful, a great R&B sound. It is a pity he is not or appears not to be known in Australia. I am looking forward to a new CD from him and regret that his debut CD is not available, otherwise I would definitely purchase it.
GOLD IS GOLD .......2006-08-21
REPETITIVE BEATS AND MOST SOUND EXACTLY ALIKE THE DUET IS WORTH THE PRICE DEFINETLY CATERS TO GAY CLIENTEL WHICH IS WHY I PURCHASED MANY OF ARI GOLDS RECORDED MATERIAL...THE MIXES CD WAS THE BEST
Dancy, Sexy, Romantic and... Spiritual!? :D.......2006-04-01
Ari Gold is amazing, his looks are good but his voice is incredible, whoever said he couldn't sing needs to get earwax removed! This sexy album has many dance tracks and some tastefully arousing gay material in "Funk That Ship" and about being caught having gay sex in "Caught". But Ali is alot more than a down and dirty songster, his music has soul with the romantic and holy Intimate where he declares he has "waited for the longest time to commit this crime, to be intimate with you... Baby can't you see I'm so in love with you" and Spiritual and Romantic, Bashert (Meant To Be) maintaining what seems like beautiful beliefs in your soulmate being out there and God. Also "Back to Me" can be interpreted many ways one of which I take as taking back your virginity, your self-worth or/and your humility and humanity. He's sounds amazing, he's dancy, sexy, raunchy, spiritual and deep! Wow, how many albums combine all that that! An incredible R&B, and that doesn't begin to describe his style, gay singer and album.

Nerf Herder scored an unexpected novelty hit in 1997 with "Van Halen," a jab at Sammy Hagar. By that point, Van Halen wasn't very contemporary, and staleness seems to be Nerf Herder's specialty. How to Meet Girls, the second release by these Weird Al Yankovic wannabes, is awfully toothless, which wouldn't be so bad if their targets were fresh. "Courtney" is a slam on grunge goddess Courtney Love--not exactly the toughest victim, especially with ill-conceived lyrics like "Saw you in a movie about pornography / you were looking pale and kind of saggy." Other brickbats targeting goth girls, Michael Bolton, metalheads, and teenage angst are lackluster. The under-12 set may find these tunes to be just funny enough to keep up with the bratty Blink 182-ish sound, but those with more discriminating tastes won't want to know How to Meet Girls. --Jason Josephes

Not sure why more people don't know about this album............2005-09-04
I got this right when it came out, and it was definitely one of my favorite albums for a long time. What it lacks in substance, it makes up for in humor and great music. "She's A Sleestak" is the only song that I don't care for on here, and that's saying a lot. I'm pretty picky about music.
I've been looking through my old CD's, and this is one of those that stands up. Rediscovery is a beautiful thing.
If you want serious, meaningful music, don't look here, but if you want something to make you smile, this is definitely something I'd recommend.
Doesn't get better.......2002-12-16
Nerf Herder rules. I've listened to a lot of similar bands for a long time, even some really obscure ones that were pretty good. Nerf Herder is my favorite band without question. ALL of their songs are good, and I don't say that lightly. As a matter of fact, out of all the bands I've heard, they are the only band that I would feel comfortable saying that about. Buy all of their cd's, including this one...and no, I'm not Parry or Steve (band members).
Nerf Herder: Fallen Angels.......2002-09-28
If Nerf Herder's first album was a loveable mess than this disc cleans up that mess but still remains to have that special Nerf Herder charm. I'm not saying that I didn't like Nerf Herder's debut. In fact, it's a hilarious album and basically an all out underrated masterpiece. It's just that this disc seems to have a better, more polished, and overall more mature sound. The lyrics on this one are still hilarious as hell. The music still has a certain punk feel. There are still songs that are named after girls, except Annalee and Diana are replaced by Vivian and Courtney (Love). There are still songs about unexpected things like perverts, Pantera fans in love, new wave bands, life on mars, and Jonathan Richman. Also, a new addition to Nerf Herder's music is the synthesizer which gives this album more of a MOOG feel to it. If you want some quality Pop-Punk or if you just want to laugh your freaking head off I would strongly suggest buying this album.

Now I know why I usually pay no heed to jaded music critics. How anyone can see this album as nothing more than a "Weird Al" ripoff is beyond me.
This is by far one of my favourite albums in my collection - a collection with its fair share of classic albums. In a time where so many people consider "pop" to be a dirty word (thanks to the neverending stream of boy bands and pop "divas"), this album saves the day with its catchy riffs, unaffected humour and freespirited pure pop goodness.
An album that will appeal to any age, but with references that will certainly resonate more soundly with listeners who experienced the 70s and/or the 80s in all their glory. For those of us who danced to Haysi Fantayzee ('Vivian'), got "Pac-Man fever", adored the A-Team and CHiPS ('For You') and lived through the big-haired heavy metal heyday of the 80s (`Pantera Fans in Love'), this album is the perfect trip down memory lane.

Kim Shattuck has a magic touch when it comes to hook-happy power pop. She writes the kind of catchy tunes that might seem effortless to compose but whose grace and precision come from more than just a nifty chord progression. The former Pandora has the knack and the guitar chops to make these rollicking three-minute pop songs memorable--you practically need the jaws-of-life to get them out of your head. The raucous tunes about envy, jealousy, true love, and well-deserved enmity are delivered with the melodic surge of Nirvana combined with the chutzpah of the Shangri-Las. The deft rhythms of bassist Ronnie Barnett and drummer Roy McDonald give Shattuck a straightforward anchor for her crispy chords and cat-scratch vocals. Fans of the dirty sound of Happy Birthday to Me and Blonder and Blonder might worry that Alert's ultraclean production signals that the Muffs are going for a more high-class sound, but don't worry--they're not straying too far from their roots. They're just moving up to three-car-garage rock. --Lois Maffeo

Great Cd.......2003-07-03
This was the first "Muffs" Cd I ever bought and I love it! I took a chance and bought it off of fat wreck chords just because I heard that KIm had a very unique voice. IF your looking to try a new type of rock genre I would recommend that you give this Cd a try.
Once a great band, now asleep at the wheel...........2002-04-19
The rest of the reviewers here must be listening to a completely different version of this album than I am, because quite frankly, "Alert Today, Alive Tomorrow" is one of the most boring and uninspiring collection of songs to ever pass through these jaded ear-canals of mine. It's not because I'm jaded towards their style of music that I find this record so unappealing. In fact, I consider the Muffs' first two albums to be on par with great singalong-punk pleasures such as the Ramones "Rocket to Russia".
The Ramones comparison is ironically apropos, because--like the Muffs--they put out one more mediocre record (the highly overrated, yet still okay "Road to Ruin") before going downhill fast ("End of the Century").
"Alert Today...", may in fact be the Muffs' "End of the Century". But then again, at least "End of the Century" had a few really good songs scattered amongst its surrounding lameness. "Alert Today" has none of that, so maybe calling it their "Halfway to Sanity" would be much more accurate. On this outing, the band sounds like they are on autopilot, trudging through track after track of completely forgettable tunes, devoid of any of the catchy melodies, hooks and energetic musicianship that made previous Muffs albums so engaging. The throwaway songwriting isn't helped by the utterly anemic production values, either. Why the hell did they stop using Rob Cavallo to produce thier records? Maybe it's no coincidence that the Muffs' last great album ("Blonder and Blonder") happened to be their last album with Cavallo at the console.
It's so sad to see such a great band deteriorate so spectacularly in such a short timespan ("Happy Birthday To Me"--"Alert Today"'s predecessor--isn't much better). Kim Shattuck is one heck of a talented songwriter, but you would never guess that by listening to this record.
review from ...girlpunk...........2002-03-25
This is the LA trio's fourth release which is packed full of pop-punk melodies and catchy guitar riffs. The 13 track CD runs a little bit under 35 minutes. The songs range from slow to mid-tempo speed. All the songs are kind of dull so if your looking for something faster paced, go look somewhere else. A couple of songs that stand out to me are: "Another Ugly Face", "Prettier than me" one of the more slower songs on the CD, and "Jack Champagne" which is an instrumental piece, but still quite good. I saw The Muffs a couple of years ago with Buck and I think they put on a way better live show compared to when they're in the studio. I must admit I'm not a big Muffs fan. I find the singer Kim Shattuck's voice to be quite annoying (which may explain why I like the song "Jack Champagne" so much). at least the band plays their own instruments though. so my final thought is if you're a new fan of The Muffs I suggest that you buy one of their older albums before buying this one, but if you're a diehard Muffs fan go ahead and spend some cash on it because I'm sure you'll enjoy the CD.
Overall a Disappointing Effort. Creatively Bankrupt........2001-06-21
I'm amazed that many reviewers give this release such high praise, the only stand-out single on the cd is Prettier Than Me. The rest seem to mesh together in a most uninspiring way. I loved the debut effort from this band(nearly a decade ago!) and if you want to hear a 4 star effort that's the one I'd recommend. I hope the next release(if there is one) consists of more substantial tunes without resorting to cover songs as in Hamburger.
Alert Today, Adore Tomorrow.......2000-01-28
This band is quickly becoming my favorite band. You will NOT be disappointed if you like punk with your pop music. The first time I heard "Silly People", I thought Kim S. was a guy (! ) This band kicks out the "love/hate" jams so well with punk rock flair. Another band I highly suggest-- 6X "Kung Pow" an ATL based band I think you guys would like...

Essential.......2004-04-13
Ignore the guy who wrote the review about them not being fast. I think he must have bought the wrong disc. Fast, sunny Cali punk done with enough finesse to put them miles ahead of any ot the imposters. Easily their most acomplished album. Beautiful is the word that springs to mind.
Straight up grade A stuff. I love it........1999-06-19
Upon first hearing this CD I thought it sucked. After a 2,ooo mile cross country road trip, I fell in love. These songs reach inside and force your lungs to scream. You can't help but feel good when you sing along, the lyrics kick butt and the tunes make you bounce. Buy it.
Didn't think much of Diesel boy.........1998-09-10
When i bought this cd, i wasn't into Diesel boy much, but, soon after listening to this beauty, i got hooked on it, the songs are hard fast and just plain cool, there will be are a few songs i will skip over such as "Happy Street" but most of these songs are just what a punk fan would be in the mood for, songs like the very cool "Titty Twister", to "Andy Stern" even "Real life in the big city" a slow kinda soft punk song is something i listen to more then often! about the only complaint i have for this cd is that it's to SHORT i wasn't disapointed, however once you get into it, you'll find your self coming back for more! one of me favorite cd's!!!
pretty decent pop-punk.......1998-08-08
This cd is on HOnest Don's (as opposed to Fat) apparently because Fat mike didn't like half of it.. The cd's kind of a blend of older NOFX and Green Day. Most of the songs aren't really energetic, but a few are fantastic, such as "titty twister" (listen to Survival of the fattest for a better version of this song). Overall, this is a pretty solid release, and better than most Fat stuff.
Sonomas finest punks.......1998-06-23
A good, fast, fun album bringing me back to the good days out there in Sonoma county. Where every thing is layed back and oh soooo green. If you like NOFX, Good Riddence etc.. Definetly check Dave, Justin, Mike and Greg

Album Description
The kings of nerdcore are back for another round, sort of. My E.P. is a collection of catch pop-punk masterpieces. Since the band has only released 3 albums in over 9 years of existence, they decided to let Honest Don's plunder their highly secure vaults & assemble a few gems that, for unexplained reasons, have never been released before. The EP was actually released in 2001 on My Records with 6 tracks, but this version adds 4 bonus tracks, 'Fight For Your Right To Masturbate', 'I Want To Take You Out For Ice Cream' & ' Nikki Webster' (one is hidden). 2003.

You can't go wrong with any Nerf Herder album. "High School" and "Fight For Your Right" are my personal favorites
a five on the pop-punk scale.......2004-07-16
Nerf Herder is probably the catchiest pop-punk next to the Vandals. The are no Ramones, but they play the best kind of pop-punk...funny and humorous. When I say pop-punk I don't mean Good Charlotte or Simple Plan. Not like that stuff at all. Nerf Herder play up-tempo, extremely funny, slightly perverted (no cussing really though, if that matters to ya) punk that just kicks it. I can't really tell you why this album gets a 5, you gotta hear it for yourself. For fans of NOFX, the Vandals, Guttermouth, the like
Pretty good.......2003-10-11
I think this is a must have for all(the diehard) Nerf herder fans, because it's a re-released with some funny new songs and classics, so buy it now ....don't forget the video...
For the diehard fans only..........2003-07-30
While the first few tracks on Nerf Herder's "My E.P." (orginally released on Joey Cape's now dead label, My Records) still stand as some of Nerf's funniest songs, the three new songs (four counting the bonus track) suffer from the same problem that the majority of their last album, "American Cheese", did: it's just not that good. None of it stacks up to any of the lyrics from "How to Meet Girls" or music from "Nerf Herder". However, it's still worth a buy to hear the original songs remixed and remastered (they all sound excellent), and to see the very funny "Sportsman Bar" music video. But note that the orginal bonus track, "Come Back Down" has been removed.

Customer Reviews:
HURRICANE RITA....SORRY I MEAN CHITA.......2005-12-09
Bajour had most of all the ingredients for a successful show. Talented cast, colorful costumes, witty scenery, tuneful and lively songs, torrid choreography and the fantastic and uncannily thrilling dancing of Chita Rivera who single-handedly nearly caused a fire alarm from the sparks shooting from her heels. The problem which could not be solved was the book which was too convaluted and had a premise stretched beyond the breaking point. Nancy Dussault as Emily is a student who in order to obtain a degree in anthropology must write a thesis on the primitive customs of a tribe. She settles on a "tribe' of Gypsies in NYC and that was the stretch that stopped the show from becoming a hit and a shame it is to anyone who hears the delightful score. The cd is now out of print but worthwhile for theatre buffs if it becomes available again but unfortunatly the fiery dancing of Ms Rivera (on the numbers 'The Haggle' 'Mean' 'Bajour' and 'The Sew-up' the last not on the cd because it is a dance number only)can't be appreciated.
BAJOUR is a winner, maybe for all the wrong reasons........2004-10-31
First I had the piano score, then I had to get the vinyl, and then, thank goodness, the CD came out to preserve this relic of a simpler and more innocent time in musical theatre history. BAJOUR had a short life back in the days when a Broadway season had lots of shows to choose from and budgets weren't sky-high. So, what's the deal with this one? Well, listen to "Guarantees" and "Words, Words, Words," for starters. Just terrible....but in such a wonderful, Broadway sort of way, that you have to listen to the entire show. Then there's "Love Line," which as a piano solo is very pretty. And "Honest Man," a good, old-fashioned Broadway "show stopping" number. MY FAIR LADY it ain't, but good-bad Broadway it is, with Chita Rivera, Herschel Bernardi, et al, belting 'em out in the type of show that, alas, doesn't come along very often, but, in the 60's did, more often than not. (By the way, if you want another show that fits in this particular good-bad 60's mold, try I HAD A BALL, with Buddy Hackett and Richard Kiley.)
A very nice score........2003-01-20
The CD of Bajour is the perfect example of a "nice" Broadway show: Plesant score with a few nice songs such as "Words, Words, Words" and "Where is the Tribe for Me", but nothing groundbreaking or remarkable about it. Great performance by Chita Rivera, Nancy Dussault and, Herschel Bernardi also help. A good CD for Broadway fans.
THE perfect example of the minor broadway musical.......2000-01-26
a generation ago -- or two -- the broadway musical season would usually produce one blockbuster, several flops, and 2 or 3 "nice shows" that would play to theatre parties and tourists and show queens, and then after six months to a year, close at a modest profit or a modest loss.
BAJOUR is a classic of this type of show. it is replete with almost hilarious comedy songs, and almost lovely ballads. its ambitions were modest, but it accomplished them 100%. and there are some great performances here by broadway legend chita rivera, and the sadly ignored and underrated nancy dussault.
if you expect every show to be MY FAIR LADY, this album is not for you. but if you want to spend a thoroughly enjoyable hour listening to what the broadway musical once was, you cannot do better than BAJOUR!
Catchy tunes with two star turns........1998-11-23
Chita Rivera and Nancy Dussault are the stars of this show. The score isn't wonderful, but there are plenty of tunes to keep you humming. Two songs, "Mean" and "I Can," demonstrate why Ms Rivera has been a plus for any musical production
