5 out of 5 stars outstanding - honestly.......2006-08-06

A friend turned me on to the live in Kingston cd and I was blown away. The song Honest Hour was the total hook for me - the lyrics are so descriptive and everthing flows to perfection. Great band - great album - great sound. Smooth - awesome - eclectic - down home - good time toe tapping - knee slapping put a grin on your face music.

5 out of 5 stars My favorite cd I have bought in 6 months.......2006-02-07

This cd is just great. The Paul Henry and Speculator are outstanding. It truly is "An Honest Hour" of music. Assembly of Dust is where it's at.

5 out of 5 stars One of those CDs you can play the whole way through.......2006-01-25

I had heard some Strangefolk before, so some songs were familiar to me (like Speculator). That being said, you don't need any jamband background to appreciate this CD.
The tones of each song distinguish themselves. Reid Genauer is an incredible songwriter. Nate Wilson is one of the best piano players out there in my opinion. SOngs like "Honest Hour", "Roads", and "Man with a Plan" make the CD.
If there was a 6 star rating, I would give it.

5 out of 5 stars One of my BEST purchases of 2005.......2006-01-23

Radio in Key West, Florida is really bad...R-E-A-L-L-Y bad.

Now I have satellite radio...and life is good.

Anyway, I was jamming out and working on my computer, and this really killer song came on ("roads"...track 4). I was listening to the "Jam On" station, which really isn't my thing, but I can dig it now and again (I like to keep an open mind with all types music).

In this case, what was coming out of my speakers wasn't "Jam Bandish"...it was just beautiful music, plus it totally rocked.

I stopped what I was doing and just sat their blown away and fired up. That usually doesn't happen to me during a "first listen".

I typed them into Amazon to read what the customers had to say, and at that time, was surprised to find only two reviews(both 5 stars)so I thought "what the heck", shelled out some cash, and the rest is history.

I've turned this album on to so many people...and they love it.

It's fun music, and it has to be one of the best Live performances I have ever heard.

If you are open to good music...take a chance and give this album a shot. I am a critical S.O.B. when it comes to music and I proudly give this one 5 stars.

4 out of 5 stars They don't make 'em like this anymore.......2005-12-31

The hook-filled first two songs, which got some airplay on our local AAA station, grabbed me like few others have in recent years. The rest of the CD is just as good. Superior songwriting and very tight ensemble performances all the way through. Until you hear the crowd reaction between songs you can easily forget this is a live album. I was immediately reminded of The Band -- Reid Gennauer's plaintive voice has some elements of both Rick Danko and Levon Helm and the harmonies are similar, plus the lyrics evoke Robbie Robertson's heartland-inspired classics. Mortality, fate and honor are handled with skill and humor. There are also echoes of Bruce Hornsby (particularly on Speculator) and some nimble guitar reminscent of Dickey Betts. I have heard other live recordings of this band, which are freely available, and I think they really are this good live without any studio sweetening. An honest hour of intelligent, unpretentious and spirited music. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars "The International Jim Reeves/Good 'N' Country.......2006-03-13

I have really enjoyed listening to this double album. It is truly a lover's treat. As a teenager several decades ago, I was and still am an ardent Jim Reeves fan. My spouse Patricia and I spent most of our courtship times listening to the the sweet mellow voice of Jim,late on many nights, in this most memorable collection. We are particularly fond of Heartbreak In Silhouette, Guilty, You Are My Darling,The Hawaiian Wedding Song, Golden Memories and Silver Tears,Don't Let me Crossover,I Have Enjoyed As Much Of This As I Can Stand, Lonely Music,Little Old Dime, The Talking Walls and Before I Die.
The musical orchestrations by the celebrated Chet Atkins in all of Jim Reeves Songs are beautiful beyond description. This is a magnificent double country album which every collector of Jim Reeves songs should have and will, I am certain , treasure forever. Enjoy!

5 out of 5 stars This is a great album.......2007-03-18

Eggs Over Easy was a pub rock band from the early '70s. Their only album was Good 'n' cheap, a country rock album produced by Link Wray and the Eggs. It was released in 1972. The only song on it that appears on another album is "The Factory", a hard rock song that is one of the best songs on the album. There are other great songs on the album including Austin de Lone's "Party Party" and Brien Hopkins' "Henry Morgan". Also Jack O'Hara's "Arkansas". This album sounds like an old favorite the first time you hear it.

I first saw this band in San Francisco. I know...bluegrass and San Francisco go together like tuna and chocolate. However, they packed the joint every night and with good reason.
Exceptional musicianship and tight vocals found here. If you like Alison Krauss, you will probably like this. The audio quality isn't the greatest, but the talent shines through.
A terrific version of You Don't Miss your Water done in both slow & fast tempos is outstanding. I Can't Stand to Ramble is a personal favorite. Good 'ol music...done well.

    Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A Zone of His Own.......2005-07-31

More outlaw than Bocephus. Raunchier than Kid Rock. More outrageous than (God forbid) the late Sam Kinison. Insane Shane McKane is the entire package when it comes to charting new territory in a somewhat novel music genre called "country rap."
McKane's freshman CD, "I Put the Ho In Hoedown" has done for country and rap music what inbreeding has done for generations of Virginian hill folk; it's fun, fornication and freak all rolled up in one package. The two genres of music were never meant to come together but you'd never know it by listening to McKane's truly insane rhymes and beats.
Highlights from "Hoedown" include I Always Stand Up Straight In My Handcuffs, a hell raising, hot-tempered throw down that could very well be a serious commentary on the competence of law enforcement agents. The track tells the tale of a good ole boy trailer park dweller partying in his own yard when the cops show up to bust him. In true redneck form, McKane bucks the system and stands up for every American's right to take a leak in our own front yards. Insane Shane is everything this great nation was founded on: sex, drugs and country-rap.
McKane's raucous vocals and his sharp lyrics make this recording more than novelty; it is believable. Behind the gold-plated steer horns and barnyard antics, Insane Shane is a professional entertainer and a legit writer. After listening to "Hoedown," you wonder why he hasn't already kicked the crap out of posers like Big & Rich. That's the music bidness for you.
A sure to be favorite from McKane's CD, She Brings Home the Bacon, I Deliver the Sausage is an up-beat country-blues rap that would make any modern day housing project gigolo proud to whip out his Jimmy Dean. Bottom line here, if you're sick of over-produced radio edits, buy Insane Shane's CD. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss $8.99 goodbye!
McKane is truly our generation's Great White Dope.

4 out of 5 stars County rap? It shouldn't work...........2005-07-17

...but it does. Big N Rich your idea of the ideal marruage of country and rap? Too bad...they're just a novelty act. Insane Shane McKane is the real deal. Crass, depraved and a redneck thug with whipsmart and scattershot delivery.

If you have Junior Brown, Dwight Yoakam, Buck Owens, and early Elvis in your CD changer, you will want to add "Swang" by Jim Stringer and the Austin Music Band! "A melting pot of country, blues, swing, and rock 'n roll", this music may be "hard to market", but that's because it is unique and bold and fun! How many CDs can make that claim? All sixteen songs are gems. My personal favorites are "Thirty Days" and "36-22-36" sung by Alan Barnet!

4 out of 5 stars Austin rockabilly at it's best!.......2000-02-15

Although Jim Stringer and his Austin Music Band play a diversity of music -- rhythm and blues, country western, and even classic Beatles -- I like their rockabilly best! This is a great album if you want to get in an upbeat mood.
