Product Description
Original Latin rock and folk rock superstar, Trini Lopez, is back with a timeless collection of contemporary folk, roots/Americana and rockabilly. The expressive, ever-youthful voice and style of Trini has never sounded better, and the album's emotional highlights include a tribute to Trini's idol and mentor, Frank Sinatra. Discover the famous Trini beat (if you haven't already!), hear Trini playing his own, famous Trini Lopez Model Gibson Deluxe guitar (part of Gibson's famous historic collection of 1964-1971)and feel the passion and excitement that made Trini Lopez an international ambassador of American music in 28 different countries where he had Top Ten hit records! Harkening back to his classic Hollywood days where Trini was the rage of P.J.'s and Ye Little Club with Trini, his guitar, and a small combo, this classic album features Trini's "Texas Roots Combo" including brother Jesse and The Light Crust Doughboys' Art Greenhaw. Produced by famous, eclectic ! Texas producer/arranger and 4-time Grammy Nominee Art Greenhaw and Trini himself, LEGACY: MY TEXAS ROOTS is Trini Lopez' 53rd album!

Best of Old, Best of New.......2004-01-12
The great thing about this fantastic album is the fact that it combines the very best of Trini's raw, live sound with the best sound quality of today. Nothing has been lost from Trini's past spontaneous albums, except maybe the rattling of the drink glasses! I, for one, had much rather hear an album without the party interference of a noisy crowd! This album has it all: great songs, great beat-combo sound, just-the-right production! It's like folk-rock has been presented in its very best roots-Americana form right here on this CD. This album could very well pioneer a whole new form of music: folk-rock-gospel for the new century! Trini Lopez and his famous Gibson guitar and folk-rockabilly have never sounded better! This is a CD which I always keep in my changer. Like a fine diamond, it looks better the closer you examine it; the more you play this CD, the better it gets; the nuances of sound and all the different shades of color here are just tremendous! In my opinion, this CD ranks right up there as one of the greatest productions ever, on par with Elvis' Sun Sessions, The Beatles' early Abbey Road work when they were basically recorded "live", Johnny Cash's best work and Dylan's John Wesley Harding and Time Out of Mind.
Trini strays from his live roots.......2003-02-02
As a big Trini fan from back in tne sixties I was midly dissappointed with this long awaited release. While the selection of songs were good, I felt the album lacked the live electric feel of his classic albums. The recordings were too slick and polished. His best albums were his classic live recordings at PJ's and Basin Street East. A particular favorite of mine was his Rhythm and Blues album which seem to be recorded live in the studio with little or no overdubbing or corrections in the studio after recording. It had a more natural feel to it. Trini is at his best singing live and spontaneous from the heart. I just wish he kept it basic for this release. It seems Trini went back to his legacy but forgot his roots.
"The greatest Trini album---ever!".......2002-10-19
This is probably the greatest Trini Lopez album of all time. Superbly produced and recorded, the arrangements are just fabulous and just right for the vocal style of Mr. Lopez. Fans have been waiting for years for this combination of songs and performances. Finally, new American classics by Trini Lopez! I first heard about this record in the Dallas newspapers and couldn't wait to hear Trini back to his roots, back to his original combo sound. The musicianship on this CD is just gorgeous and stacks up with multi dollar big label releases-no, this is so much better than the copy cat conglomorate label releases. A world tour based on this sound would be the greatest thing to happen to American music in a long time. Trini Lopez, his Texas combo, and these power songs and arrangements- folk, gospel, rock-a-billy, and Tex-Mex. This album is the ultimate bridge between the Anglo and the Spanish cultures, thanks to Texas, Trini, his combo, and the wonderful music makers of this CD. As this album itself says, "God Bless The Music Minstrels". Viva Dallas and Viva Texas!
