Tracks were laid down pure and live and nearly naked on three hot summer nights this August. Catfish sings, stomps, and plays seven different guitars; two acoustics and five new Nationals, including his two baritones and his exciting first appearance with the 12-string tricone. This album features Keith solo, and powerful duos with the "big bottom" stand-up bass of Marty Christensen on half the cuts. Songs come from deep down in the treasure trove, and include originals as well as songs re-invented from Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Leadbelly, Cannon's Jug Stompers, The Otis Brothers, Dock Boggs, Blind Willie Johnson, Skip James and much more.

NOISE, BABY.......2003-04-29

This is one of my all-time favorites, and I own or have owned over 3000 records, tapes and CDs. Double bass pounding, slow deep drumming and screeching, distorted guitar. The vocals are almost beside the point. If you like the Cows, Melvins and similar noise, check out Sweet Pea. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Maybe, like me, you'll have a (way) underground classic.

Being webmaster of the fan site helps me see the band over and over. When I heard about the new album, and getting a heads up from the guys in the band about what would be on the cd, I couldn't wait. The album is everything that is Sweet Pea's and more. Awsome work! To see it live is "the icing on the cake"! A must have for any CD collection.

"Side Road to Paradise" is one of the best New Orleans Blues/Rock CDs I own. Every song on the album is great. Buy it and you will not be the least bit disappointed.

One of the best CD's I own. The guitar work is incredible and the vocals are soulful and heartfelt. When I received the album I listened from begining to end non-stop. This is by far the best work to date from SPR. Fan's of any type of music will enjoy this great CD. I also highly recomend the previous releases. You will not be disapointed!

SPR hand-delivers real blues and soul though buttery vocals and VERY talented guitar work. This is the kind of music you can imagine hearing walking down a street in either New Orleans or Chicago. The music is original and organic a rarity these days.

From the begining to the end this is by far one of the better releases I've have heard in a long time. If you like good music, this is a sure thing. Excellent recording, none of that over the top studio crap, just straight up punch you in the face rock and roll. A MUST HAVE!!!

This is the kind of music you can't find on the radio anymore--great original guitar-driven rock with an alt-country influence and soulful, powerful singing, songs you'll listen to over and over again. I already own this CD--got it at one of the live shows--and just bought one for a friend. It's an excellent rendition of an evening spent with a great live band, and after you listen to it you'll feel like you've been to a party--without having to leave your house or car! It was recorded at a classic roadhouse, set out in the woods of the North Shore of New Orleans, with a lively group of diehard fans, and that emotion and genuine excitement really comes through. This band has been around for 7 years, touring the Southeast and West, and it shows. They are tight and polished, yet authentically rock-n-roll. This is not a pop band, it's a band of real musicians making music for real music-lovers. Check out their website, sweetpeasrevenge.com, and try to make it to a show if you can!
