About the Artist
Music is the most profound expression of shared human experience. At times of joy, at times of great sadness, when we seek solace or refuge, when we seek to share happiness and love, we can do this through music.
Betsy Foster is a composer of insightful melodic works that tie rich harmony to a passionate expression of a human soul. Betsy studied music from an early age, culminating in her graduation from Longwood College in Virginia with a degree in Piano Performance. Sidetracked for many years in a legal career, Betsy began a renewed love affair with musical composition following a debilitating illness.
Passion is the force behind her music, evident in the power of the emotion experienced through her compositions. Betsy is fortunate in a unique skill that allows her to compose in response to her own feelings and to maintain relevance for the listener, so that they too can feel the impact of her expression.
Some have described Betsy's music as "New Age" comparing it with writer/performers such as Jim Brickman. To classify Betsy's compositions as merely New Age would understate their true nature, which, while embracing the melodic fluidity best prized in New Age music, also embody a much more stirring aspect of rich harmony that draws that oh so elusive emotional response from the audience.
Betsy's compositions have found a home in the hearts of many, and lovers of classical and contemporary artists alike are able to share an appreciation of her art. Those searching for a song to celebrate love, or to commemorate love, speak eloquently of the grace and fulfillment given to them by sharing Betsy's music.
From the darkness of tragedy, Betsy Foster's compositions envelop the audience, and like an oyster, the music itself becomes a pearl that brings relief to pain, and adds luster to joy.
Product Description
When composer Betsy Foster wrote the romantic and timeless duet "Loving You" nearly 20 years ago, she never dreamed it would become a favorite with brides worldwide, from her small hometown in Virginia to Australia and everywhere in between. "Loving You" is passionate, yet distinctly delicate, a hallmark of Ms. Foster's musical offerings.
Over the two decades that ensued, the many requests Ms. Foster received for "Loving You" to be played at weddings of both friends and strangers prompted her to have it professionally recorded last year.
She was able to locate the perfect blending of male and female voices in Heather Blair Jones and Brian Glenn, two outstanding singers from Nashville. Skillfully guided by talented producer Denny Martin of Antioch, Tennessee, the CD-single of "Loving You" surpassed even Ms. Foster's expectations.
"As anyone who knows me will tell you, I'm a demanding perfectionist, often to a fault. Denny's beautiful choice of instruments combined with Heather and Brian's harmony were precisely what I envisioned for the song," she said after hearing it for the first time.
On a whim, Ms. Foster decided to have "Loving You" arranged as an instrumental. Written for violin, flute, guitar, and piano, its quiet elegance is faintly reminiscent of Pachelbel's Canon, making it suitable for the processional, lighting of the unity candle, or as accompaniment for the vocal version. Both tracks appear on the CD-single.
As more and more brides began discovering the song, they inquired about the availability of sheet music. As a finishing touch, musician Keith Terhune of Seattle, Washington was elected to transcribe "Loving You" into printed form."The greatest compliment anyone can give me," Ms. Foster recently remarked, "is that my music touched their hearts in some way. For me, that's the most rewarding payment of all."
Loving You,Betsy Foster,Betsy Foster,With its memorable melody, emotional lyrics, and classically-inspired pop sound, "Loving You" is destined to become a wedding favorite.
