Product Description
Art Blakey, master of the drums, leader of the music. His career started with Mary Lou Williams, then Fletcher Henderson and the Billy Eckstine band along with Charlie Parker and Sarah Vaughan. After his stint with Mr. ""B"" Art went on to form the 17 Messengers which would develop over the years into the Jazz Messengers, which included some of the finest musicians that would influence the music; Clifford Brown, Horace Silver, Wayne Shorter, Lee Morgan, and Freddie Hubbard amongst others. This concert was for then only 18-year old Wynton Marsalis the beginning of a world career. Blakey presented the trumpet player on this evening for the first time with his new cast of the Messengers.
