Editorial Reviews
About the Artist
Tommy Wood was Born and raised in Ruckersville, Virginia. His love for country music emerged at the age of 10 from listening to his mother's Conway Twitty and Loretta Lynn records. Tommy's influences come from country artists such as; George Jones, Tracy Byrd and Alan Jackson just to name a few. Tommy's ambition to pursue his dream of becoming a country music singer came shortly after meeting Tracy Byrd, who headlined a local country music festival that featured Tommy and his band as an opening act in 1997.

In 2001, Tommy recorded and released his first Self-Titled album in Nashville Tennessee produced by DeWayne Phillips. The first single from the album, “I Tripped Over Your Memory”, is receiving airplay in several markets in Virginia.

1 out of 5 stars Very Few Originals.......2001-03-24

This set looks like a great bargain but beware...most of the songs are not the original versions that you know and love. If you just want the songs in any form, go ahead but if you must have the original recordings, look elsewhere.

2 out of 5 stars SOUNDS VERY MUCH LIKE IMITATION TO ME.......2001-01-13

Nice CD and sounds great. However, I just can't believe that the songs are original, at least it don't sound that way, or in other words. Sounds Very Much Like Imitation To Me!!!

2 out of 5 stars Most songs are not the original recordings.......2000-12-31

I somehow assumed that these would all be the original recordings, since Amazon offers no information to the contrary. When I received the 3-disc set, I noticed fine print explaining that most of the 36 cuts were "new stereo recordings"--which, even if they got the original artists to perform them, are just not going to be the same. Only 13 of the songs are listed as the real thing: The Birds and the Bees, Mister Livingston, Mule Skinner Blues, Stiki De Boom Boom, Ya Ya, The Oogum Boogum Song, Mr. Custer, Georgie Porgie, Nee Nee Na Na Nu Nu, Yummy Yummy Yummy, Baby Talk, Dede Dinah, and Alley Oop. If that's worth $9.97 to you, then you'll have no complaints.

5 out of 5 stars Check it out.......2003-07-22

This album goes straight to the heart of true country fans. Tommy Wood's music has a notable traditional foundation, and the lyrical topics cover a variety of territory. I Tripped Over Your Memory is clever and fun. By You Down By the Bayou is also. Both are 'sing along' material. The Book is a powerful story of a young man's struggle to be his own man, yet aching for his father to be proud of him. It is an emotional tug-of-war that many people struggle with in becoming independent. Other songs on this album touch on a variety of topics that are easy to relate to. This album is definitely worth checking out.

This CD is wonderful. Tommy Wood is an incredible performer and I can't believe the public hasn't caught on to him yet. His music is definitely all you'd want country to be and more. Buy his album. If you like country music, you'll love this.

4 out of 5 stars Good Country Music.......2003-01-06

Tommy Wood is a true country singer. His songs are contemporary enough for the younger listener, with just enough traditional country sound to please those with a more conventional taste in country music.

    4 out of 5 stars Sounds Good!.......2002-12-10

I enjoyed hearing the different song clips, especially I Tripped Over Your Memory. Very Catchy.
