Album Description
"Looking for the Moon" marks the first new solo studio CD for adults since 1994 by Tom Paxton, one of the greatest folksingers and songwriters of this century. On this CD, Paxton presents thirteen original songs emphasizing personal themes that encompass modern day life and the current cultural climate. Many compositions concern the inevitable and insidious march of aging and progress and their effects on average citizens. "The Chisholm Trail became the road to Disneyland," rues Tom in his modern day cowboy song, "My Pony Knows the Way." Small communities crumble beneath economic hard times in "Early Snow" and "My Oklahoma Lullaby." Nature's curative powers are given their due in "My River" and "Come Away with Me," and the tides of love carry the tender "Me and a Couple of Angels," "Marry Me Again" and "Easy Now, Easy." "Homebound Train" is a heartbreakingly poignant account of a ten-year-old boy coping with the death of his father. An early version of the CD's most topical song was a computer-age hit as the most downloaded song, for free, on the efolkmusic.com website - "The Bravest" is Tom's tribute to the heroes of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, particularly the firefighters who risked (and lost) their lives in their rescue efforts at the stricken World Trade Center.
Like Paxton's last two "grown-up" solo records, "Looking for the Moon" was produced by veteran producer/musician Jim Rooney, who has also produced CDs for John Prine and Nanci Griffith, the latter of whom adds backing vocals to two tracks here. Anne Hills, a frequent Paxton partner, contributes beautiful soprano vocals behind Tom on five songs. Other supporting musicians include dobro-player Al Perkins (previously with Emmylou Harris's Nash Ramblers, the Flying Burrito Brothers, and Stephen Stills' Manassas), guitarist Mark Howard, who has backed Iris Dement, Nanci Griffith and John Hartford, pianist Mark Wasner, who has written hits for Vince Gill and Garth Brooks, and relative newcomer Tim Crouch, who boosts the Nashville-recorded CD's country tinges with his nimble mandolin and fiddle.

Are you looking for the Moon.......2005-11-23
A great mix of songs. His "The Bravest", a tribute to the fallen firefighters of the 9/11 tragedy is the best that one could ever hope to hear. As a retired firefighter I can tell you that he "nailed" it.
21st century Paxton.......2005-08-16
It is an enjoyable album. However, the witty pointedness present in Tom Paxton's 60's and 70's albums, is gone. Instead there are relevant social comments, a tribute to the fire fighting crews attending the September eleven catastrophe and the odd love song, often performed in a country and western style not present in Paxton's earlier albums.
Understated and very moving.......2005-07-21
An album of lovely, contemplative songs. There are songs of loss, such as "Homebound Train". "Marry Me Again" is a wonderful tribute to lasting love.
McCABE'S #4 - Tom Paxton 02-14-2004.......2004-02-16
This is my personal review of Tom Paxton's concert at McCabe's in Santa Monica on Valentine's night 02/14/2004. This was the first concert at McCabe's for my new girlfriend Julie, who had never seen a folk concert before. I was shocked at how much fun she had, as well as myself, as Tom entertained the audience with catchy small numbers and spotlighting his incredible sense of humor and incorporating fun into his music. Tom performed several of his classic songs, along with new songs from this fine album. My favorites would include the title track, "Homebound Train", "Me and A Couple of Angels" and a fine tribute to the NYC Firefighters who died on 9-11-01 in "The Bravest". Tom also did a couple of numbers for us lovers that night, including a new song "Come Away With Me". Along with Tom, special guests Carolyn Haster and her husband David Bloom joined in to perform a song or two from her incredible music library. Overall, A fine concert from one of folk's best performers. Tom honored a special guest in the audience - a man who helped get Tom (and many other folkies) started at Elektra Records 40 years ago, Mr. Jac Holzman. It was an honor to shake his hand after the show just to say 'thank you' - as well as meeting Tom and introducing him to Julie, who seemed to like very much =) He signed my CD "To Joe, Tom Paxton" - Thanks Tom Paxton for a special night. Peace - JG "Bear"
Park, then Listen.......2002-12-08
The first time I heard this CD was while driving and listening to the local folk music show. One moment I was a middle-aged man in a Volvo running errands, and the next I was a longhaired hippy type sailing down the highway in my VW bus, looking for dragons. By the time I got control back I had driven by my home and was on my way to California. I believe that is called spontaneous regression.
Tom Paxton was about as much a part of my post-adolescent years as was the psychedelic music of the sixties. Back in those days it was important to be stirred up by the music to the point where you all sang along and did strange things like group hugs. And nobody does that with the same evocative flair as Tom Paxton. Nowadays many would consider much of this music as a bit too hokey, but back then it brought a tear to one's eye and woke a bit of revolution in your heart.
It still does. From 'Looking for the Moon' to 'Come Away with Me' these are all touchstone songs - melodic, mostly tender, and easy to sing along with. Don't expect deep anguish or heavy sarcasm. Do expect a lot of wistful tenderness and a surprising musical complexity that underlies was initially seems to be simple tune making. I hope this album touches more people than just those liable to sudden nostalgia attacks. It seems to me that the world would be at least a little improved if more people stopped to listen.

Hi... Samuel French, Inc. holds performance rights for this show. Break a leg!
where do i buy the rights?.......2004-02-05
Can anyone tell me where i can buy a copy of this play and then later after i review it buy the rights to it? I'm a student director and i need to choose a play for my college debut and i want this one. Can anyone help? this play is awesome!
great show.......2003-12-17
this show is just awsome. i was a part of the show this past fall playing the part of Eddie Ryan and it was a blast. The storyline is classic and very funny. The tale of Becky and Eddie falling in love was just great and sister Lee is perfect. this show is amazing and i recomend anyone to either be a part of it and or see it live.
the cd is very well done. the one thing i did not like about it was the woman playing Becky. wasnt much a fan of her voice, but other than that the show and the cd are perfect extentions to any cd collection.
Good old-fashioned love story with a couple nuns put in.......2002-06-09
When I heard my theatre group was doing this show I asked myself "Why are we doing a musical with such a long title?". I couldn't imagine having to say "Yes I'm in Do Black Patent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up?' every time someone asked me what show I was in, but to be honest it was totally worth it. This musical is one where the entire family can enjoy even if you never felt the sting of a nun's ruler or the the headache from the priest's book.
Long Live Do Black Platent Leather Shoes Really Reflect Up!!.......2002-06-08
Geez. I was so excited to find this cd on amazon.com. Back in the early 90's I had the honor to catch this musical at the Warner Theatre in Washington, DC and immediately fell in love with the story and the cast. Russ Thacker is truly the highlight of the musical but the rest of the cast is excellent!!! If you don't already have it grab it now! Long Live Russ Thacker & DBPLSRRU!

14 Shades Of Staind.......2006-08-11
While good at what they do, Scars of Life completely rip off staind. Musically, they sound the same, and their vocalist even sounds a little like Aaron lewis. This is a good album, but like i said, they spend far too much time doing what Lewis and Co. have already done, far better than they have.
AMAZING!!!!.......2005-12-15
I can't believe a band starting its work as the FIRST Album so enormous. What SOL is achieving is unbelievable. Growth of success means what SOL will obtain. I'm sure if later on they plan to give out any other albums, they’ll surely blow everybody’s heads off, exactly what this one is doing.
awesome cd.......2005-09-06
I've been a fan of SoL for a long time, since I heard the song "Lemon" on a website that supports local bands (it's gone now so I won't bother putting the URL) about 4 years ago. When I heard they were releasing an album I got really excited. I've listened to it many times since I bought it, and am not disapointed in the least. Great stuff, sounds awesome professionally mixed, and they're a great band to see live, put on a kick ass show. The singer has a great voice, and his screams fit in perfectly. The guitar riffs go from soft and melodic to heavy and pounding, and some weird effects thrown in are cool. Their lyrics aren't revolutionary, but they get you pumped up. An overall good band, check them out.
A strong rock outing.......2005-08-23
If you can get past the opening hardcore vocals on "Lemon", you'll hear some throaty vocal melodies set to crunchy guitars and pounding drums. "Alone Inside" begins with a pleasing clean lick that leads into meaty guitar chords. The tempo and rhythms are a nice contrast of subtlety and intensity. "Mute" is dominated by an intoxicating lick and has all the makings of a rock radio hit. The chorus is well-written and will draw you in with its simplicity. You're in for some heavy crunch during the bridge.
"Placebo" builds to a rhythmic fury right from the get go and never quits. The breakdown section mixes stinging licks with powerful vocal melodies. The track concludes with a manic growl. Clean & distorted guitars combine with laid back, echoy vocals on "Descending". The song is almost schizophrenic in its presentation, as it switches from soft to heavy. "Silent Words is an emotionally charged, acoustic ballad where vocalist Kyle Shapiro looks inside himself to see what he's become.
The Bad
Kyle Shapiro has a great rock voice, there is no need for the hardcore screaming crap.
The Verdict
What We Reflect is a strong rock outing that sometimes gets lost with useless screaming. Overall it's worth checking out, Scars of Life have all the makings to move up from here.

Give it a chance-really.......2003-05-07
Plain and simple if you like good music , then you cannot go wrong with this double CD. I appreciate good music, but I usually prefer alternative music from the 1980's through today. However I decided to buy this as a gift for my wife. We listened to it and wow, some of these songs, especially the Burt Bacharach stuff is so 60's cool. I am not familiar with other interpretations, but Anita does a fine job here. She has a strong smooth voice. I thought she would be a bit more sultry in her singing some of these, but maybe that is the point. The song is so good, she doesn't need to add more sensuality. I will say her male back-up singers get in the way at times.
Put it on as you are working around the house and you'll find yourself huming these songs in no time!
I'd Forgotten.......2001-01-09
I remember the album the Anita Kerr Singers Reflect on the Music of Bacharach and David. I'd forgotten the wonderful smooth voices and terrific arrangements. I've since learned that this group sang backup on literally hundreds of Nashville hits during the 60's. A wonderful group run by a woman, in a time when women got little respect.
A Lyrical and Instrumental Masterpiece.......2000-05-01
Anita Kerr was a gifted arranger, composer, conductor, and songstress. This CD captures two of her better known and widely admired albums. This first is a soft and sentimental reflection on many of the works of the legendary Burt Bacharach and Hal David. The second is a livelier, more vivid interpretation of works made famous by The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams and others. And that's what Anita Kerr and her singers do best...provide their own fresh and original interpretation of contemporary pop classics of their era.
Their warm, mellow, vocal harmonies are accented by sharp, clear brass; soaring strings; rich, deep bass; and rhythmic percussion. The vocal and instrumental treatments combine to form music ringing with subtlety, clarity, and matchless beauty. Their music evokes a rainbow of emotions from whimsy, to reflection, to romance, and even rapture. This is a CD to soothe the soul and inspire the heart...
Much of her Best Work.......2000-02-08
IMHO, "Reflect..." was arguably the best AK album recorded with her classic line up. After her tenure with Decca, as part of the famous "Nashville Sound" Machine of the 60s, AK went on to record a series of concept albums featuring her restrained yet sexy jazz-pop voice, her sensitively capable singers, and her voluptuous orchestral arrangements.
Until recently, these masters have been locked away in record vaults all over the world, held hostage by late-60s label failures/takeovers and studio/marketing politics. I'm very glad, however, to see them slowly return to the catalogue through semi-independent companies like COLLECTOR'S CHOICE and ONE WAY RECORDS (and at an affordable price as well).
With "Reflect" remastered, released and in my possession, I now await "Its AK Country," "We Dig Mancini" and "The Sea" to reappear so I can also add these classics to my collection.
So, how about it, guys?
This is marvelous CD; add it to your collection.......2000-01-16
This is it. Stop shopping. Any lover of 70s tunes, especially Bacharach, will love this double album set of Anita Kerr singers. The quartet's harmony and arranging is superb and the talented foursome provides its own introspection on some of Bacharach's more meaningful songs, i.e Alfie, Windows of the World, etc. This is not Ray Conniff by any means. Sublime vocals and a disc you'll never tire of listening to.

Self Titled Debut CD by Sensational

Customer Reviews:
You are missing out if you don't hear this!!!.......2006-02-09
Casey has been a gifted musician for her entire life. She has worked hard to accomplish everything she has so far, and her efforts are well worth a listen to. She has an incredible voice that should not be missed. Casey has a unique voice that cannot be pinpointed as replicating someone else's sound, she is truly one of a kind. Five out of five, but if I could I'd go even higher than that, it's worth it.
Break Out Ain't Enough / Radio Programmers take Notice!.......2005-12-07
Wow! 19 and already out with her 3rd effort. 11 of the 13 tracks are written by Casey, the other two are co-written by her. Casey has grown up surrounded by some of Boston's finest rock musicians her whole life. Yet here on this disc there is not a hint of the influences that must have surrounded her. That's not a bad thing. It proves to this writer that Casey is a true original. This woman has recorded a disc that's aimed straight for the stars.
The 13 tracks on her self titled release come straight from the heart and obviously from life experiences. Here can be heard the passions running the gambit from the power pop angst of (dare I say it, but she really was great) Pat Benatar...and Casey's pipes are just ephing amazing...well, I don't know who to compare her to for you to relate.
I remember the first time I heard Susan Tedeschi, another Boston gal, I thought man she's the next Bonnie Raitt. But I was wrong, she's not following, she's leading the way. I say Casey's headed down that path too!
She's writing about the topics that all young adults go through or will soon go through. "Asked me to be the suture in your side But it's puss filled and it's all bloody, I don't wanna be that honey" This ain't no prefab hollywood cookie cutout like most acts on commercial radio.
That said taking a peak at the liner notes of Casey Desmod's disc I see someone who has major belief that she's good enough for the pros already...and she is. Most notably Tony Levin (King Crimson, sidekick to countless including Peter Gabriel, Paul Simon, Herbie Mann and James Taylor to name a few) joins her on bass. Also Will Ackerman (founder of Windham Hill records)co-writes one and plays on two tracks. Notorious Boston rockers Bill and Kathy Desmond (Bentmen) play on and produce the disc.
The disc is solid through and through with multiple layers of emotion and sounds to satisfy many a rock audience.
Keep an eye out for this gal, she's going to break out, but I'm betting it won't be enough. Three records by nineteen, she's evolving.
The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the one thing I think these songs need is a blistering lead guitar to accompany her kick ass voice. It's an excellent disc by itself, but it could have been searing. Of course I haven't seen her live so I have no idea really. Maybe when she comes to North Carolina I'll get a chance to find out.
Steven(PVM)Asheville

Powerful feminist folk music!.......2006-07-14
Right-on politics, beautiful harmonies, touching lyrics and awesome guitar playing!!! If you haven't heard this Berkley-based queer feminist folk trio play, do so immediately! It's one of the best folk cds I've heard in a while (and I listen to a lot of indy folk music!). Really, it's that good!
Power, moving, and inspirational.......2005-01-01
This trio of musicians know what is it rock (folk rock) with a voice and a message. There is a lot of music out there today, but nothing more soulful and powerful then this band.
Have a listen you'll discover how inspirational and aspiration they are and there music is to you and you're life. This is just one of their many CD's that they've done... oh, and if you have the chance see this band perform live... You've never seen a performance like Rebecca Riots.
fast!.......2003-11-12
This seller is great. I received my cd really fast, and it was in great shape.
Fabulous!.......2001-05-10
Gardener is wonderful there is no doubt about it Rebecca Riots is only getting better! Their first 2 albums are wonderful,.... but this album although not a drastic change of pace is however moving in to some new sounds with new insterments and some guest musicians on a few of the tracks. Their personalities shine through in both their lyrics and music. The lyric are so expressive and ture. I just cant say enough about this album or this band!
not to be missed.......2001-03-10
one of the best releases of 2000. thoughtful, intelligent, well-played songs. a splendiferous trio. buy it. go see 'em live. the music is fresh, the grrrls can rock.

This Record Is FIRE!.......2006-08-02
This album by Nikkole is definitely a winner! I mean it has everything. I just read about her in Ebony Magazine (August 2006) and they are right --- this cd is a must have for any music lover. The girl can sing...I mean really sing! She has got a range like Mariah Carey and the attidude of Teena Marie. And, she is really beautiful. Nikkole has the entire package.
Let's talk about the cuts on the cd:
1. RSVP / feat. Melle Mel - this is a great opener because it is uptempo and a definite dance cut. Melle Mel (Grand Master Flash and the Furious Five) comes out of hiding and he couldn't have chosen a better artist to team up with. This is a hot joint.
2. It' Too Late / feat. The Emotions - This song is just beautiful. I've heard it on the radio many times here and I have to say this is one of my favorites. It was an excellent choice as the first single. The Emotions sound great on this song and they pair very well with Nikkole. The harmonies are lush and delicious! Nikkole hits some really high notes in this one.
3. Gon' Bounce - Hot, Hot, Hot song, this has got to be my favorite on the album and I am so glad that this song was chosen as Nikkole's second single! If this song doesn't get you moving; then you must be dead. Watch out Mariah... Nikkole is hitting some notes that are up there in your neighborhood. Excellent cut!
4. Breathe - This song is very poetic and beautiful. When I hear it, I get visions of being wisked far away and feeling free. If you want some smooth real soul music, then you'll love this track.
5. I Wish - Another winner. It has hit written all over it. Lovely, deep and compelling ballad with very lush vocals.
6. Baby, Baby - I love this one too. This song has such a hypnotic beat...it's just infectious.
7. Waiting - Nikkole is definitely an R&B singer with crossover appeal, because songs like this one can reach everyone's soul and spirit.
8. Lollipop - Sexy, sexy, sexy, did I say sexy. This has got to be one of the most cleverly written songs on the album with the use of candy terms to describe her man. I mean Nikkole knows how to give it to you soft and easy and she knows how to get you on the dancefloor. All of the lyrics paint such vivid pictures.
9. I Think Of You / feat. Shadii - This is certainly an Urban / Neo-Soul song with Nikkole pairing up with crooner Shadii. They work the hell out of this song!
10. Amazing - Did she call this one Amazing? Well it definitely is that! Nikkole is one singin' sistah on this song. She hits the highs, the midrange and the lows on this cut. Nikkole is one AMAZING singer. I really love this song.
11. Nothing Without You - Nikkole has a sort-of Alicia Keys type of vibe here, yet it is remarkably all her own on this bluesy, soulful number. This song is really like some good Down South Blues with a contemporary storyline. I'd love to see this song in Nikkole's live show. I'll bet she's gonna wear this one out.
12. Drive You Crazy / feat. Wendi & Wyann with Sober - Another great team up on this club banger! If you want to dance, well get ready because I know you won't be able to keep your feet still with this one! Very, very Hot!
13. And You Love Me Too - Wow, a beautiful love song that is simply stated and not over done. It is very warm and poetic. It also takes you away from your cares for a few moments and makes you feel very peaceful.
14. That's What Life's About - Now who said Nikkole couldn't Rock you out. This song has a little bit of rock flair with soulful riffs and vocals. Nikkole is working it on this song.
15. Over It (Special Version in Japanese from "Appearances") - BEAUTIFUL!!! I don't understand what she is singing about accept in the choruses, but I love the way it sounds. Kinda reminds me of a big group from the late 70's early 80's that used to do a lot of Japanese themed stuff --- A Taste Of Honey!
16. A Girl Like Me - The title track has got to be another one of those infectious, percussive songs. It is a boastful, happy song that is definitely a sing-a-long! I can see you school girls gettin' down with this one. It is a great song and a great way to close out the cd!
I certainly wish Nikkole nothing but success because she deserves it! This album is HOT and no one can deny that. Her artistry speaks for itself and according to the articles that I have read on her, she writes, produces and arranges all of her stuff. Nikkole if your reading this out there, you have got yourself a fan for life!
Everyone, do yourselves a favor, if you love good music, I mean really good music, then grab a copy of "A Girl Like Me" by Nikkole. All of the songs on this cd are truly GREAT!!!
It Has Its Moments.......2006-07-20
It's about time that a (white) female artist comes out who doesn't over-sing or imitate Whitney Houston. It's refreshing to hear someone sing in their own voice and know that it's coming from within. Moving on to the CD. The music on here could be classified as R&B, even there are some pop overtones. Most of the songs were okay, but nothing that would grab you. I wasn't too thrilled with the synthesized music and Nikkole's vocals would've been better accompanied with real playing instruments. Nikkole has a good voice, but she needs to work on finding her own style. From the way I see it, these songs could've been performed by anybody. She should add a little pizzazz and stay away from any pop influence.
Check It Out - You Should Get This CD.......2005-10-28
I bought this cd and I was so impressed with the songs. Nikkole can sing, and these tracks are crazy cool. She even sings in Japanese. This cd has got a song for whatever mood you're in. See for yourself!
Nikkole's A Girl Like Me is Excellent!.......2005-10-25
Wow, I heard her cd on itunes and I have to tell you it is amazing. Like every song is HOT. My favorite's are Nothing Without You, I Wish and Gon' Bounce. This girl can sing, I keep hearing that one she sings with The Emotions, It's Too Late on the radio here in Houston. Everyone should own this cd.
HOT, HOT, HOT...There are no other words to describe this cd!.......2005-10-16
Nikkole has got to be one of the Hottest artists around these days. I have not heard an album this good in a very long time. All of the tracks are great, I find it hard to pick a favorite. I do really love the first single, "It's Too Late" which features The Emotions. The Emotions haven't sounded like this since their days with Maurice White and Earth, Wind & Fire. The Emotions are at the top of their game on this track and Nikkole is singing her a** off. Another one of my favorites is "Gon' Bounce," that song is so off-the-chain that words can not describe how HOT this track is. Other favs are, "Breathe" - "I Wish" - "Waiting" - "I Think Of You" - "Lollipop" - "Amazing" - "Drive You Crazy" - "Nothing Without You" - I really could go on because all of the songs are on FIRE!!! Nikkole is going to be around for years to come. She truly has one of those voices that legends are made of!

Album Description
From Grammy winner, Darlene Koldenhoven, this 'anything but traditional' CD "Heavenly Peace" was selected as "Best Holiday CD" by New Age Magazine; "Album of the Month" by The New Times, Seattle; and debuted #2 on the New Age Voice Radio Charts. This glorious collection of original and traditional songs (some non-seasonal) with non-traditional arrangements will evoke that special holiday spirit all year long. As producer of this successful inde release, Darlene chose or composed and arranged most all the songs to tastefully feature her expressively soaring, angelic, five-octave vocal range, with or without lyrics. The lyrics touch upon the spiritual and emotional sides of all the characters involved in the Christmas Story, while the music and production reflect elements of classical, world, jazz, and new age. A serene and joyful celebration with mostly synthesized accompaniment and acoustic soloists on various traditional and world instruments. If you liked her featured solo, "Aria," in "Yanni, Live at the Acropolis" you'll love her vocal and keyboard work here. With plenty of musical interest for attentive listening, this album will also create a soothing background ambience. From comments by radio programmers, to listeners world wide, EVERY track on this album is musically and spiritually satisfying. Heavenly Peace . . . indeed!
Customer Reviews:
An Awesome Experience.......2005-01-08
Although parts of this recording are sung in a vocal range that the Modern Listener isn't comfortable with, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys extreme talent. Listening to this CD is an experience: I was soaring on Pie Jesu. Koldenhaven is the most exciting female singer since discovering Loreena McKennitt.
Beautiful Voice.......2002-11-19
The tonal quality of Darlene's voice is simply superb. Both rich and delicate. I would estimate at least a four octave range of superb, stylish aural splendor. Her talent goes well beyond just being a superb singer. She also arranged many of the "Heavenly Peace" songs, and produced this CD. Do I have a favorite song? Not really, they are all great for listening. But if I have to select a favorite, it would be "Emmanuel" ... a pure, ethereal song of magical beauty. I play this song over and over and over. The CD is my Christmas morning music while opening gifts. Highly recommended.
Heavenly Peace, indeed!.......2000-11-28
A few seconds into my initial listening to its first track, "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen," I sensed that Heavenly Peace was not going to be a typical Christmas album, and as the rest of the album unfolded, that first impression became ever more deliciously validated. The multi-layered vocals on the song, in their interplay with the violin solo, alert listeners that they are in for some groundbreaking music, period, let alone a singular contribution to the seasonal literature.
As the album continues to cast its spell, one quickly develops an appreciation for all the unique ways that Koldenhoven informs the holiday musical legacy, making new even the most familiar tunes and, simultaneously, the wonder of the Christmas story. Even more remarkable than her crystal-clear five-octave instrument (from below second alto to up, up, and away) is the fact that she manages to exploit its full range without showy, gimmick-laden histrionics.
Several original compositions, including the wordless "Angels' Pastorale," add depth to the listening experience, and the sensitive lyrics (especially on "Joseph's Question") are worthy of the delicate settings that cradle them. Even the best-known tunes are so imaginatively delivered that one may be more tempted to wonder where one has heard the song before than to (attempt to) sing along. "Silent Night," packaged a bit like The Manhattan Transfer's version, comes the closest to sounding like something I can use as a basis of comparison, although if you're a Sarah Brightman fan, this collection will surely appeal to you, as it mines similarly etheric stylistic territory. It even closes with Koldenhoven's heartfelt (and superior) take on one of Brightman's signature tunes, "Pie Jesu" from Andrew Lloyd Webber's Requiem.
Although hers isn't a household name, you may know the artist for her work with Yanni (she sang "Aria" on his Live at the Acropolis video and his In the Mirror CD), 2+2 (a jazz group with whom she earned three Grammy nominations and one award), or Inner Voices. The latter all-female quartet's 1990 Christmas Harmony is one of those very few holiday releases that have made my playlist every year since its release. I know that Heavenly Peace will join that special group of discs next year, and every year from then on.
