Feel like you are listening to live music at the roadhouse.......2007-03-12
This is one of those cd's that is well worth the money. Every song a great one. Has the feel of a rockin country honkey tonk
Burnin' the Roadhouse Down.......2007-03-09
I love this Album.I have played it many times since I purchased it.(And will continue to do so!)Highly recommended!
Steve made a great start on Capitol.......2005-08-30
After a long and successful career on other labels, it seemed at one point during the nineties that Steve's hit-making days were finished. Steve proved that this was not so by securing a contract with Capitol and recording three excellent albums of original material for them of which this was the first.
The title track, a fun duet with Garth Brooks, was no doubt expected to be the big hit from the album and it certainly opens the album in great style. However, it is the second track (Holes in the floor of heaven) that really caught the public imagination. This is a very sad death song of a type that is comparatively rare these days. Such songs were far commoner in the sixties - in pop music as well as country music.
Another outstanding track is the second duet on the album (What if it's you), this one being with Anita Cochran who also wrote the song. This duet also appeared on her debut album (Back to you).
Quite apart from the three tracks already mentioned, this album contains many other great songs including I don't know how to fix it, Big old empty house, Smoke from an old flame and A six pack to go.
This is an outstanding album by a man with one of the finest voices in country music.
Special Reasons.......2005-08-09
This cd contains a special song for our family. "Holes in the Floor of Heaven" was my grandmother's favorite song, so when she passed away in september 2004 we played it at her funeral. So we have bought multiple copies of this cd so that all of our family can share in the memories.
Besides this particular song there are lots of good songs on the cd. I listen to it regularly.
Steve, go back to your country roots please.......2004-08-26
Steve Wariner shows none of his superior talent on this album as he has with previous hits such as "All Roads Lead to You" and "You Can Dream of Me." Instead, we get smarmy, unbearably syrup like the insipid "Holes in the Floor of Heaven." The fact that songs like this win awards isn't a clue that the song is good: just how out of touch the C&W industry truly is to the fans. Nothing on this album is really memorable or will have the staying power of his prior hits. Buy Steve's Ultimate Collection instead.

Product Description
"Heartaches & Honky-tonks... Bill Hearne's years as a country and folk musician have served him well. He is above all a storyteller... a hearty slice of Southwestern soul."
- Gabe gomez SFReporter
Country legend Bill Hearne has been performing for 36 years from Nashville to LA keeping boots scootin' everywhere inbetween with his wife as "Bill & Bonnie", both Texans, blind from birth. Originally signed to Warner Western, Bill & Bonnie are Folk legends at events like Texas's Kerrville Folk Festival. Bonnie's health keeps her from touring but Bill is busy. Bill's retro country trio and his honky-tonk quartet have been steadily blazing up the southwest circuit becoming mainstays in Texas, New Mexico and Southern Colorado. Now on Frogville records in Santa Fe, they had a great time recording this retro country album at the analog studio with Bill Palmer at the helm engineering and co-producing this country classic! Heartaches & Honkytonks is a retro country classic!

Eve's style is Roadhouse Rock- a high energy blend of rock-n-roll and honky tonk blues with a dash of swampy twang for flavor. She's been compared to Bonnie Raitt, Melissa Etheridge, Maria McKee and EmmyLou Harris. This studio CD captures the energy of her live show which has been compared to Tina Turner, Janis Joplin and Gwen Stefani. Long Road Home features 9 original tunes plus songs by Johnny Cash, Steve Earle, and the Beat Farmers. Also includes the Wanda Jackson classic "Hot Dog! That Made Hime Mad"
Customer Reviews:
Great Discovery!.......2001-07-19
I have to echo the thoughts of a previous reviewer. It is amazing to me that this incredible talent has not been signed by a major label. What strikes me about this CD, and all of Eve's other work is the passion and the heart which are so evident in the music, and particularly in Eve's voice. You get the feeling that she is living every song. There are blistering roadhouse rock and roll songs that almost force your feet to get moving as well as ballads that will soothe you and tug at your heart. The range of Eve and her band is amazing as they pull both off and everything in between with wonderful results. This was the first of her CD's that I purchased, but after being hooked on the first listen, I have since purchased all of her studio work that I can find. Do yourself and everyone else a favor...give Eve a listen, tell your friends about her and support this great talent!
Crowd Pleaser....and a Toe Tapper.......2000-11-12
Long Road Home, Eve's follow up to Out On a Wire (see review) proves this lady is here to stay. The songs have more bite than the somber and reflective Wire - though she does sneak a few of those in this CD. The songwriting is catchy, Eve's voice is hypnotic and her band is steady and creates the right mood. Some of my favorites are: Long Road Home, What I Mean To Say....my fave, Just 3 Words, The Lucky One
Play this one with the volume up..and the top down, if you so desire....it will guarantee to get you toes tapping.
When is a major label gonna sign this woman?????
Roadhouse Rock at its Finest!.......2000-06-26
This CD of mostly original music (co-written by lead guitarist Marc "Twang" Intravaia) is the most played CD in our collection. The title song comes out of the gate like an anxious racehorse and really gets you rockin', but Eve and the band's musical range is tremendous and this CD has a mix of ballads, love songs and just plain fun songs as well as roadhouse rock. One of the most original (and fun) cover songs is included as a bonus track - be sure to stay tuned in after song 13 is over! SLAMM magazine has described Eve's voice as "lemonade-and-whiskey" - buy this CD and see what they mean!

Customer Reviews:
Amazing voice and what passion!.......2005-07-14
This CD is a great overlooked treasure. Eve Selis is a jewel and a rare talent in this day and age. Her voice can break your heart in one song and make you feel like you won the lotto in the next. She deserves a much bigger audience. Her CDs are good and this one is GREAT but you must see her live with her band to fully appreciate how incredible she really is. If Tina Turner and Patsy Cline were cloned into one person, Eve Selis would be it.
Wow!!.......2003-03-24
This album is fantastic!! The very first track, "Tear This Old Down" is a flat out rocker that showcases Eve's strong voice so very well. There are other good rock tempo songs here; "Ain't Got Nothin'", "Catch The Wind", "Passin' Thru", and "Down to Love". There are also songs here that prove how well she can sing the slower, softer ballad songs; "In My Dreams", "My Whisper", "Broken Things", and my most favorite track, "Love Came Just In Time." It is noteworthy that Eve wrote or co-wrote 9 of the tracks. This is a very good buy folks.
Question is "Why Don't You Know Her"?.......2002-10-08
"Do You Know Me" is the latest effort by the enormously talented Eve Selis and her band.
The cd is a wonderful blend of alternative country, rock and adult contempory music....
Personally the song "Broken Things" is worth the price of the cd alone....her voice is one to be heard.
But there is so much to choose from on this cd...
From the gritty opening track of "Tear This Old House Down" to the lullaby quality of "My Whisper" to the toe tapping "Passing Thru" to the redeeming quality of the title track...one can see why Eve is one of the most downloaded artists on mp3.com.
So "Do You Want To Know Her"?
I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you do...
