About the Artist
Maria Merlino, a resident of South Philadelphia, is the latest in a line of singers to come from that storied neighborhood, starting with Mario Lanza, running through Marian Anderson and including Bobby Rydell. For most of her career she has appeared live in music venues, most recently fronting the blues band Ruby Klutch, Doktari and the Millionaires (she was Ruby). She took some time off from performing for marriage, but now has returned with fresh material and a fresh sound in synch with the new century. She often gets her musical inspiration while engaging in her past-times --needlework,aromatherapy and paper cutting.

Sometimes it's O.K.--even important--to put aside your reluctance to embrace artists who make teenage girls scream. It happened in 2006, when Justin Timberlake scraped the sludge off pop and left something shiny behind, and it's happening again in 2007 with Maroon 5. It Won't Be Soon Before Long, the L.A. band's sophomore studio disc, rode in on a crest of hype and crumpled expectations--fan reports had it that Adam Levine & Co. scrapped their signature pop-soul sound for something harder and darker. Not so. Shades of Prince, Hall & Oates, and Sting still color the Maroon sound (check out the spectacularly fizzy "Little of Your Time," as well as the first single, "Makes Me Wonder," a song catchier than fire), but they're made ever fainter here by the clamping down of five guys on what is essentially the most distinctive pop sound to emerge from a single band since the Bee Gees squealed into the mid-'70s. It Won't Be Soon squares hip-hop sensibilities ("Wake Up Call") with rock ones ("If I Never See Your Face Again") and stormy moods ("Can't Stop") with bittersweet ballads ("Better That We Break"). It's a disc destined to defy detractors and go on to greatness, elevating the credibility of teenage girls for years to come. --Tammy La Gorce

Global neo-soul rock superstars Maroon 5 are back with their much-anticipated sophomore album, It Won't Be Soon Before Long. The follow-up to the 10x platinum, Grammy-winning Songs About Jane will be "sexier and stronger," according to frontman Adam Levine, who looked to '80s icons such as Prince, Michael Jackson, and Talking Heads for inspiration. Recorded at home in Los Angeles with producers Mike Elizondo (Fiona Apple, Eminem), Mark "Spike" Stent (Bjork, Keane, Gwen Stefani), Mark Endert (Madonna, Fiona Apple), and Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Nickel Creek), the album promises to be a louder take on the pop sounds of their first effort. "It's definitely aggressive, upbeat and pounding," says Levine.

Another good one!.......2007-07-09
Once again Maroon 5 has kicked out another good CD. Not one bad song on there as far as I'm concerned!
Not as catchy as Songs About Jane.......2007-07-09
I absolutely loved Maroon 5's first album, but this one doesn't quite do it for me. The lyrics are great, however, the song itself lacks original beats. I think they should team up with Timberland or another producer to improve the sound of the album.
I'm So Glad it's not SAJ Part II!.......2007-07-07
I love having a "little secret band" -- the garage band with a small following or something like that -- but Maroon 5 is definitely not that anymore. Normally I hate when songs go single and are blasted all over the airways (Beyonce's "Irreplaceble" a prime example -- I loved that song until I heard it every other minute), but I've even set "Makes Me Wonder" as my ringtone and I'm STILL not tired of it. I love that song, along with just about every song on the CD.
If you want something Songs About Jane-esque, I wouldn't advise this CD. This one is a bit edgier, and there's nothing really romantic about this CD (their only contemporary song that is is "Infatuation," but it's left off the CD and I had to get it elsewhere.) It's a nice mix of slower, smoother tracks and really upbeat rock-soul tracks. This CD just solidified my love for Maroon 5, and anyone with an eclectic taste in music should be satisfied with it, too.
Maroon 5, It won't be soon before long .......2007-07-06
This albumn is the best!! Every song is good, especially track 5(I won't go home without you) It's Great for dancing and doing stuff around the house. I Love it!!
This is how you do it.........2007-07-06
This is what a new band should do(having only one previous album). They stuck with the formula giving their fans what they wanted more of. It is true that they, like every other musical act these days, took a long time to release new material. But now they can develop and progress the way they want to.
I am so tired of bands "maturing" out of nowhere, coming out with music that sounds bad and believing they have the right to come out with music that isnt worth the amount of time they took to make it.
Now they have a great chance and have earned the right to come out with a concept album or try anything else that they want. Well Done!

TI Vs TIP? Didn't TI cover that topic on "Trap Muzik" in 2003?.......2007-07-10
I was introduced to TI when I saw the videos for "24s" and "Never Scared". "24s" was the 1st single for his upcoming CD "Trap Muzik" and "Never Scared" was the debut single from Bonecrusher and the song featured Killer Mike and TI. Both tracks were pretty good but since that was my 1st introduction to TI I decided to wait before I made a purchase. I liked his 2nd single "Be Easy" even better than I did "24s" but since I hadn't heard anyone talking about the CD, I still decided to be patient and wait it out. However, when I heard the track "Rubberband Man", which was the 3rd single, I finally made my way out to make the purchase. The track was produced by David Banner and had "hit" written all over it. Once I listened to "Trap Muzik", I was mad at myself for waiting so long to purchase a nice CD. My favorite tracks ended up being "Bezzle" which featured Bun B from UGK and 8Ball & MJG, the title track, "I Still Luv U", "Kingofdasouth", and the 2nd and 3rd single, "Be Easy" and "Rubberband Man". TI also had a track that introduced his split personality TIP on "TI vs TIP". TI wanted to capitalize on the momentum of "Rubberband Man" and his 4th single "Let's Get Away" which was a Jazzephizzleproductshizzle and he quickly came with what I had just found out was his 3rd CD in "Urban Legend". One of my co-workers who followed the Down South rap scene more than I did informed me that TI's debut CD was actually a CD entitled "I'm Serious", which 'til this day I still haven't heard. TI employed Swizz Beatz and created the club jam of the year in "Bring 'Em Out". I wasn't a huge fan of the track, but anytime you were at a party or at a club, people went bananas as soon as this track came on. I actually liked the 2nd single, "You Don't Know Me" better than "Bring 'Em Out". "Urban Legend" was a nice follow up to "Trap Muzik" and my favorite tracks ended up being "Motivation", "What They Do" w/BG, "The Greatest", "ASAP", "Stand Up" with Trick Daddy, Lil Wayne, & Lil Jon, "My Life" w/Daz and "Freak Though" w/Pharrell. TI was also featured on the Hustle & Flow soundtrack on the lead single, "I'm A King (Remix)" which also featured Big Kuntry from P$C and Lil Scrappy. TI also released a CD with P$C in 2005 entitled "25 To Life" but that pretty much was a CD that if you bought it like I did, you just chalk up as a bad purchase and move on. When you purchase CDs sometimes there are CDs that are better served as coasters instead of being in the CD player. Trust me, this was one of them. I appreciate the fact that TI would want to put a CD out with his homies, but other than some moments by Macboney, once you listen to it, that will probably be your 1st and last time listening to this CD.
TI locked down all of 2006 in some people's minds just by dropping the song "What You Know (About That)". DJ Toomp, who was responsible for TI hits such as "24s", "Be Easy", "Bezzle", "U Don't Know Me", and "Motivation" provided TI with a track that was definitely one of the most memorable songs in all of rap music last year. This track was the 1st single to his 4th CD, "King". My favorite tracks ended up being the Just Blaze produced "King Back", a remake to the UGK classic in "Front, Back", "Live In The Sky" w/Jamie Foxx, "I'm Straight" with BG and Young Jeezy, "I'm Talkin' To You" and "Good Life" which was a nice collaboration with Common and Pharrell joining TI. "King" pretty much set up an expectation when it comes to TI CDs as the "self proclaimed" King Of The South is definitely expected to live up to. Some people will actually agree with TI's claim. However, when you're bold enough to make those claims, each and every CD has to back that up.
"TI Vs TIP" was released on July 3, 2007. The 1st single ends up being "Big Things Poppin' (Do It)" and it's produced by Mannie Fresh. I definitely like this track alot more now than I did when I first began to hear the track, but when you compare his 1st single from "King" to this track there is basically no comparison. As a matter of fact, I will even be as bold as saying that "The Greatest" which was Mannie's contribution to "Urban Legend", "Front, Back" w/UGK and "Top Back", which were Mannie's contributions to "King" are better than "Big Things Poppin'". "TI Vs TIP" starts with an intro that covers events that has happened to TI since the release of "King". The rap is definitely off the hook and as one reviewer said you wish the track was an actual song instead of an intro or interlude. The track also reintroduces TIP, which his fans already know from "Trap Muzik". "Raw" is a pretty good track as well, although you will wish that TI would leave the fact alone that he is better than most rappers from the South. TI you have an excellent resume with "Trap Muzik", "Urban Legend", and "King", I already know that you are better than most Southern rappers so you don't have to tell me how "Raw" you are. "You Know What It Is" should have been the 1st single, in my opinion, as Wyclef, Jerry Wonder and company provide TI with a refreshing track that does a better job of reintroducing TI than "Big Things Poppin'" did. "Da Dopeman" isn't one of the better tracks on here. The track is produced by Mannie Fresh and see my definition for the 1st single as Mannie's production doesn't do justice to the songs that he has done with TI in the past. "Watch What You Say To Me" isn't as bad as some people are making it to be, in my opinion. Now I have definitely heard better Jay Z tracks and I have heard better TI tracks but this track is decent and it's something you will want to listen to more than once. You wish that the 2 rappers would have came with a better energy, but the track is still pretty good. "Hurt" features Alfa Mega, who is a new member to Grand Hustle and Busta Rhymes. This track is clearly one of the better tracks on "TI Vs TIP" as Busta Rhymes clearly steals the show, but TI and Alpha Mega also give nice performances. Danja, who works with Timbaland on alot of his production produces the energetic track. Danja also produced "We Takin' Over" which featured DJ Khaled, TI, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, Birdman, Lil Wayne & Akon. The "Act 2" interlude comes up next as once again you will be wishing that the track was a complete song instead of an interlude. The interlude switches the TIP side of the disc over to TI. Although, the "TI vs TIP" theme isn't that interesting to me anymore, you can't take the quality of the rhymes and beat to the interlude away from TI or TIP. Just Blaze shows up with what is my favorite track on this CD, "Help Is Coming". TI clearly delivers a message to anyone thinking hip hop is dead or that rap music is slowly dying. He even goes as far as saying that he is the man that can single handedly save hip hop. I may not agree with that claim, however, you can't take anything away from this track. The concept, beat and lyrics are the best that you will hear on "TI Vs TIP" in my opinion. Things continue to get better on the cocky "My Swag" which is also produced by Wyclef, Jerry Wonder and company. If someone would have told me that Wyclef and company would have been responsible for 2 tight tracks on a TI CD, I would have laughed. However, Wyclef and TI provide a nice hook and TI does a good job of bragging and boasting on this track. However, after hearing 2 nice tracks in "Help Is Coming" and "My Swag", things go downhill with "We Do This", "Show It To Me" w/Nelly, "Don't You Wanna Be High" and "Touchdown" w/Eminem. "Touchdown" surprsied me the most because once I heard that TI and Eminem would be on the same track, I expected a 4 alarm fire. However, in the end it ended up being some sparklers that you can find at a convenience store on the 4th of July. I was extremely disappointed in this track. It sounded as if Eminem listened to Paul Wall's "Get Money, Stay True" 10 times and then called TI and said let's do a track together. TI tries his best to make a contribution, but in my opinion, things just don't work out this time around. After listening to the 1st bad interlude which has TI and TIP cussin' and fussin' at each other, TI or TIP...lol rebounds nicely with "Tell 'Em I Said That". Danja makes another contribution with the production and in the end you just wish TI or TIP would have made more songs such as "Help Is Coming" and this track. It seems that TI knows that he is one of the best rappers in the South and his swag ended up hurting him this time around. "Respect This Hustle" just doesn't work for me. The production is nice but when you compare this track to the best songs on this CD, you wouldn't even put this track in your top 10. "TI Vs TIP" ends out on a nice note with "My Type". You will easily call it "Live In The Sky" Part 2 but it's nice when TI takes a step back from the bragging, boasting and "King" crowning to make a track where he is saying something with some actual meaning behind it.
If you purchased "TI Vs TIP" from Best Buy then you also got 2 bonus tracks with "The Hottest" featuring Macboney from P$C and "Hustlin'" w/Governor. "The Hottest" is produced by Khao, who produced TI's jam for the ladies on "King" with "Why You Wanna". The thing about "The Hottest" is that it's better than any of the tracks from 11-14. Macboney makes a decent contribution and you'll wonder why it was a bonus track in the first place. I'll never forget my introduction to Macboney on a track entitled "Killin' Me" which has TI on the hook, Macboney on the 1st verse and Paul Wall on the 2nd verse. This track was better than anything on the P$C CD that was released in stores with the exception being "I'm A King" of course. Governor adds a nice touch to "Hustlin'" but in the end it just adds a lighter touch to TI's strories about being in the "trap".
In conclusion, TI still is one of the best rappers in the South. "TI Vs TIP" is a CD that is worth checking out and adding to your collection if you liked TI's earlier releases. However, there are some "duds" on here. You will also have yourself wondering why would TI go back in time to bring back an old "Trap Muzik" theme from 2003 with "TI Vs TIP". Some things are better left alone. To anyone that gave this CD 5 stars, I will ask you to listen to tracks 11-14 again and reevaluate what you wrote or thought in your review...lol At the same time, there are some hits on here as well. I am not saying that this is a pathetic release from TI. However, if you are the self appointed "King Of The South", every release needs to reflect that. After last year's "King", "TI Vs TIP" doesn't display that fact as well as "King" did.

Delivered on this album for the most part.
I was unimpressed by Touchdown... Eminem is my favorite rapper but he lacked in the production department.. Add to that he sounded much out of his comfort zone on the track. As for the rest of the album... I think it has to grow on you. At first listen I was not pleased, however, I gave it another spin and was sucked in. (Pause)... Hottest track: Tell Em I Said That.
Danja is a MONSTER
I am not pleased...........2007-07-09
I am a big FAN of TI. I have all of his CD's and this is the worst one. First off what is the difference between TI and TIP. They are both speaking the same things. He brought the right first single out Big thisngs poppin as this is the best song and lured in sales. I cannot get through the CD no matter how many times I try. Normally things grow on you but I only play tracks 1- an interlude and 2. I do like the song My Type but that is about it. I love TI but this CD is not good at all.
T.I. vs T.I.P: Best Album of 2007.......2007-07-09
These days rap music just isn't the same as it used to be. Growing up in an era loving Jay-Z, Nas, 2Pac, Eminem, etc, I miss the good ol days of rap. Artists like MIMS for example just don't do anything for me. T.I. is one of the only recent rap artists I've grown to love. With every album, he improves and this album is no different. KING was amazing. It practically melted in my car stereo last summer. So obviously, the anticipation for this new album was high and it exceeded my expectations. T.I. vs T.I.P in my opinion is his best album to date and I loved KING. T.I./T.I.P. brings the heat with this record, doing something different. He talks about really personal issues (Miscarriage of his baby daughter, death of a friend, etc) and this album seems like a personal diary of his life. His other albums are great, but this one seems like the most personal. T.I. has some great collabos this time around too, as Jay-Z, Eminem, Wyclef Jean, Nelly and Busta Rhymes all show up on this release. Best songs on the album are "We Do This," "Tell 'Em I Said That," "Respect This Hustle," "Show It To Me" feat. Nelly & "My Swag." However, the whole album is great so don't get the impression the songs I didn't mention are not good. Surprisingly, the songs he did alone are better than most of the collabos. While I was excited to see T.I. work with Slim Shady himself, Em kinda hurts the track. He spits with a southern flow and it's not amazing. I would have liked to heard the song "Whatever You Want It To Be," the second song they recorded for T.I.'s album. Maybe it will show up on Eminem's next album with the other track they recorded for Slim's next release. The T.I./ Jay-Z collabo is good. Finally, Jay gets at Lil' Wayne and puts him in place. Jay's verse alone solifies he won the beef with one of the most overrated rappers of all time. Overall, T.I. has given me a reason to think rap can be saved again. TIP is one of the only artists around anymore with TRUE talent. I'm glad he decided to stick with music after KING. He put everything he had into this album and it shows. T.I. might be on his way to becoming one of the rap legends in the game. He's definitely one of the best to me. If you're looking for good rap, buy this. It's amazing.

T-Pain opens the liner notes to his hotly anticipated second disc with a couple of helpful definitions: An epiphany is "the manifestation of a supernatural being" (definition No. 1) or "a sudden moment of insight or revelation" (No. 2), the opening page puts forth. Because most of the R&B record-buying world knows that T-Pain is not a supernatural being, but a stylish and inventive singer from Tallahassee, it would seem the second definition inspired the title--T-Pain probably felt flashes of inspiration when laying out the lyrics. A single spin ought to convince listeners a little of both factored in, though: Songs like "Bartender" and "Buy U a Drank" send out a southern hip-hop vibe silky enough to be considered a revelation (thanks partially to Akon, who pitches in on "Bartender"). And because the entire album leans hard on the vocoder, tracks such as opener "Tallahassee Love," a nod to Tupac's "California Love," sound otherworldly, a la definition one. Throughout, T-Pain hands out hooks like there's been a two-for-one sale. Maybe they came to him in a series of epiphanies. Or maybe a benevolent R&B being--some supernatural force who knows how to make a hit record--whispered them in his ear. --Tammy La Gorce

Pretty Good.......2007-07-03
I noticed a lot of people did not like this album. I thought it was pretty damn good. The reason why I didn't give it five stars is because there are two stupid skit and two song I don't like. That leave me with 13 songs that I really liked. It has both a comical side and a serious side. I suggest you buy this album yourself and see what you think. It makes for good driving music too with a lot of bass. Check it out.
Not impressed; More substance and hits would've been nice..........2007-07-01
So I joined the bandwagon and bought EPIPHANY. Why you ask? Well my friends, "Buy U A Drank (Shawty Snappin')" was bumping and it was one of the most undeniably catchy (as well as stupid) songs of 2007. I couldn't resist. I'm not a big fan of "clubby" R&B albums, but sometimes i give into guilty pleasures. In some respects with EPIPHANY (which I have to agree with one of the reviewers that this is no "epiphany" by any means), I wish I'd let the album itself pass by and just downloaded "Buy U A Drank". But I had to indulge and I can't help to say that ultimately EPIPHANY is a disappointment. Then, you also have to think mentally, that with such club-savvy artist as T-Pain, Akon, and sometimes R. Kelly (though excluding nis great new album DOUBLE UP), that the club-centric albums only tend to have one hit. Sure, EPIPHANY is good for a couple of worthy numbers (first single and "Church" to name a few), but overall, it is nothing but a mess. Sure, I'm happy T-Pain surprised everybody to take the #1 spot on the Billboard charts, hold back both Rihanna and expected chart-topper Paul McCartney, but still you wonder if people were expecting a real "epiphany" for the money. Oh well.
The album begins with the introductory track, "Tallahassee Love" in which T-Pain not only defines "epiphany" but also gives love back to his hometown, Tallahassee. It is completely unnecessary, as with most intro tracks, but it is actually better than some of the full length tracks on EPIPHANY. "Church" has the most undeniably catchy groove of EPIPHANY with an incredibly soulful guitar riff, tropical sounding drum-programming, and random interspersed "rah!" during the verse. Vocally, T-Pain sounds top notch, even if he is halfway between singing and rapping. T-Pain sounds among the hardest ever when he sings: "***damn, you think you cool, you think I'm not, you think you're tough, ***damn, you think you're hard, you think I'm soft, you think you're rough... I'm gonna have to take you're a** to church..." Sure the song's ridiculous, but it is worthy of spins in the CD player. "Tipsy" features overall repetitive, but sound production work, with an undeniably catchy sounding synth-line. Sure the track lacks substance, but it is the same man who took "I'm N Luv Wit A Stripper" to #6 on the pop charts. "Show U How" is plain annoying and odd, though the hook is well performed. "Suicide" is perhaps T-Pain's first attempt at being serious (it is a song about AIDS), but he falls short, particularly when he uses clumsy lines as "cause I f***** her/ and didn't have a rubber on me." Sure, it is a worthy enough track, but again, it comes over cornier than it ultimately should.
Second single "Bartender" tries to bank on the success of the great "Buy You a Drank", but it also falls short. It isn't bad, but the repetitive piano loop doesn't quite sell as well as the great "Buy You A Drank". Sure, T-Pain jacks his discoverer Akon, but it still doesn't make "Bartender" as top-notch as the inescapable first single. "Backseat Action" features mammoth drums supporting T-Pains heavily produced vocals (that stupid vocal effect again) and proves to be one of this albums few stronger tracks. "Put It Down" is solid as well, making it look like EPIPHANY might have a stab at redeeming itself after a number of misses via "Show U How" or even the utter unconvincing nature of "Suicide". "Put It Down" actually has some very nice moments, even moreso than "Backseat Action". "Time Machine" is a miss, while "Yo Stomach" is OK. "Buy You a Drink" almost comes too late, and is followed by misses that continue all the way to the end of the album ("69", "Shottas", "Right Hand", and finally "Sounds Bad").
It's unfortunate for T-Pain because had he bottled the best of EPIPHANY and perhaps written songs with more substance not so focused on sex or the strip-club, he may have truly had his FIRST epiphany. Sure at times, EPIPHANY is on the edge of at least being average, but with so many misses and with numerous unconvincing moments and a title such as EPIPHANY, a listener can't help but rip on T-Pain. More substance in the future please - you are a talented rapper and vocalist. 2 stars.
I'll take a drink over this album anyday!.......2007-06-28
I only bought this album for the hit single Buy you a drink. And its funny because thats the only jammin' song on there ! Thank God I bought it bootleg for 3 bucks because its not worth the retail price!( Yeah Yeah I know alot of people may look down on others that buy or sell bootleg copies of cd's but hey if the artist only drops one hot single and nothing else what can you expect! Im sure as hell not gonna chance all my money for a cd that dont jam!)
Not Impressed.......2007-06-23
This is another album where only the singles are a hit. Save your dough.
He's different and I like it.......2007-06-22
I decided to take a chance and buy TPain's new album. I love it. I'll be honest and say I didn't expect it to be good at all, but I was highly surprised with some of his tracks. His voice is different and I will agree with another reviewer and say that he's not afraid to try new things with his songs, and for that he stands out. And besides everybody has got him on their album, so what does that tell the haters? :)
Four stars no doubt!

Hey There, Plain White T's.......2007-07-06
I wish there were half stars, but this is closer to 4 than to 3 for me.
I'm older than the average demographic for this band, if I went to their concert I'd have to wear a "Delilah's Mom" t-shirt :) but Hey There Delilah has been playing on my radio station and the song just sticks in my head.
It is the song that every girl wishes someone would right for her. Unusual these days to hear something sweet about commitment, it's a beautiful sound with a beautiful message.
I bought the EP along with the All That We Need album. It's all young catchy pop (but not bubble-gum pop) stuff, airplay sort of stuff. It is not an acoustic band. Very enjoyable for a 46 yo mom and my 19 yo son doesn't mind me playing it in the car. He just doesn't appreciate me singing along...
BTW, I like it that the rest of the band is in the Delilah video. That shows class.
Let me be your Sampson, Delilah.......2007-07-04
"Listen to my voice, it's my disguise . . ." My niece said: "I found out who did that song. The new Delilah song." I had completely forgotten but she said there was a song about Delilah. I named one of my dogs Delilah. She was a stray that some family found, and put a flyer up at the dog park. The kids called her Lilah, but I changed it to Delilah . . . and it fit her to a "T."
In the bible Delilah is the downfall of Sampson, a strong Hebrew warrior. She keeps trying to get the secret of his strength, but when he tells her, she has Sampson's enemies do it. He tells her, if I am tied up with green saplings, then I will be powerless. He wakes up tied with green saplings, bursts the bonds, and slaughters the enemy. Whatever he tells Delilah, they try. You'd think he'd catch on, but no. He, like an idiot, tells her his real secret. His strength will never wane, as long as he never cuts his hair. Next thing you know, he's as bald as Britney Spears.
Anyway, my dog Delilah is a pretty red dog, an Australian Cattle Dog, or maybe a Kelpie. Maybe part Dingo. She is pretty, but can be contrary. She might not want to come in at night, and if you leave the gate open, and she gets out, good luck trying to get her to come back.
Anyway, my niece Kelsey told me about this band so I checked them out. I like the song, "Hey There Delilah" and it is also the name of their album. There are two versions, and the last one seems to be a sing along, like their fans heard it and everyone who came to their show knew the words. I like it that they inspire such loyalty.
Their music sounds like rough rock, but with a focus on songwriting. Maybe they would fall in the category of Emo. I played it for my dog, Delilah, and was wondering if she would respond to her name being sung. She had no reaction. She gave it two paws down. But what does she know about music anyway? I like it.
Great.......2006-09-21
I bought this because I saw the Hey There Delilah video on MTV 2. This cd is great, and I listened to the title track about 10 times.
Love this CD.......2006-06-18
I recently saw this group at Warped Tour and really liked them. I had their CD before this, but never really listened to it. At Warped Tour, they had a tent and they all signed a tee shirt I bought, and then took a picture with me and my sister. The entire way home from the concert, I listened to both of their CD's, and really liked them.

Album Description
After four years, this is the long awaited second album from this Chicago pop rock band. Plain White T's have long been recognized as the hardest working band on Fearless playing 250 shows a year. Not only are they loved by fans, but their peers have embraced them as well. For fans of Sugarcult, Simple Plan, and Fallout Boy.
Customer Reviews:
Another one hit wonder.......2007-07-10
I'm soooo tired of hearing the Tees squeek out their one hit wonder "Delilah". This song should be used as a torture device to get criminals to spill their guts. Hearing this over and over and over would invite madness. This is my most hated song of all time, surpassing "I Shot The Sheriff", "Betty Davis Eyes", and "Loving You". Dull, sappy, weak, thin, garbage.
as expected.......2007-06-03
the merchandise arrived to my house in a reasonable amount of time as described.
Definately a good CD.......2007-05-31
Plain White T's CD is definately takes care of your alternative itch. The CD has really good pacing, is fun and and smart.
Plain White T's are All That We Needed!.......2007-01-14
A mix of power pop/alternative/and indie songs, Plain White T's put a lot of passion in their music. The songs are very good and well written even if they are slightly repetitive. Many of their lyrics are sweet love songs or songs about relationships gone wrong that would appeal to many who listen to emo music. However I would not classify them as emo for their music is generally upbeat. If you like to listen to just a few songs off a CD Plain White T's, All That We Needed, is a good buy. You will find that you fall in love with ½ the songs and the find others are good also. Listening to a CD as background noise you will love the sound and the lead singer, Tom Higgenson, has a great voice. The song "Hey There Delilah" sinks into your soul and make you want to melt in your shoes. It is soft and sweet love song it starts off with;
"Hey there Delilah,What's it like in New York City?, I'm a thousand miles away, But girl tonight you look so pretty,Yes you do,Time Square can't shine as bright as you,I swear it's true"
If this is the only song you've heard off that album I will warn you that it is the only real acoustic song on the album. The other songs are good in a different, more 'get up and jump around,' kind of way. The music is passionate and have very good beat that cause you to want to put it in your CD player on repeat. I would 99% recommend this album but try not to over play it as soon as you get it!
One Good Song.......2007-01-11
This CD get 2 stars for the last song and 0 stars for the rest. I bought this CD spefically for the last song, "Hey There Delilah." I had hopes that there might also be some other songs on the CD that would be worth listening to. In my opinion the last song was the only one worth listening to because all of the others are simply annoying.

such a let down.......2007-07-04
Okay, so I bought this album based on "Hey There Delilah". I know, I know. What can I say? It's a simple, fun little ditty. When I saw it was a "bonus track", I briefly considered the possibility that this is the little lyrical accoustic after-thought to an album full of bland power chords and blander lyrics. Then I said, "No, this'll be good."
Nope. As I desperately sought for another song with some hint of originality or depth (track 12 coming the closest), my girlfriend aptly said, "They sound like a high school band."
Fifteen regrettable dollars lighter, I pause to pontificate on what it is people hear in this kind of bland music. Perhaps it is just the MTV teen girls with their parents' disposable income who think they're cute and really don't care what they're listening to, so long as it's cool. This album is so derivative and bland - both musically and lyrically. Is there some rule that rock artists who break into major formats can't incorporate interesting instruments (violins, digeridoos, flutes, etc...) or drift from repetitive power chords? Are these artists forbidden by market demands to write anything but navel-gazing songs about their own seemingly uninteresting lives? Why can't they look at the world beyond and comment on something that actually matters - war, the environment, greed, whatever? Green Day finally did it and that seemed to work out pretty well for them - grammy wins, record sales, and peer respect.
I don't know - I look at exciting newer artists who are bending the rules of instrumentation, lyrical exploration, and styles like Bright Eyes and Xavier Rudd, and they don't have a tenth of the exposure this band now has. Then, on the other side of the coin, I consider older artists that have maintained a musical and lyrical creativity for decades like Springsteen, Van Morrison, and (though a few decades lighter) Ben Harper. How does music this bland break into the big time when there's so much better work out there struggling to exist? Even outside the music realm, there's an incredible number of really intelligent, creative thinkers pushing the boundaries of human thought, and still this is the drivel that rises to the top. There's either something deeply wrong with the music industry or extremely unspiring embedded in the public to which they cater.
Nothing new.......2007-06-15
This cd is completely average. I'd call it bland, but that seems a bit harsh. They aren't doing anything original with this album. I feel like I've heard all these songs before with other bands/music, and they're relying on too many power chords. It's likable for a few plays, but it's also easily forgettable. It's the complete middle of the road - not exactly bad but not really great either.
And to the guy who said he didn't like it but his girlfriend did... I'm a girl, and I don't find anything special here.
To emoish for a guy like me.......2007-06-07
As said before, this band sounds like another emo band. I liked emo when it was more underground, but for the past years I got to say it has turned out very bad, with every other band trying to copy each other. Plain White T's is an example of that. Though some songs sound great, some other songs just sound boring and not exciting. This album sometimes sound as if the inspiration to make this album was Fall Out Boy, and the Academy is... I am not a big fan of those two bands, and I guess that is why I disliked most of the songs. Also, BEWARE of the powerchords on this album, there are to much in here that just do not make the CD enjoyable to listen too, almost 90% of the songs consists of this.
I rated this cd 4 stars though, cause the chick I go out with likes this album or else I would rate it a 2 [Lucky PWT]. So I am assuming chicks probably like this music, and if you want to get an emo chick [hopefully thats not overweight] then this is the cd you should get. But for a guy's taste, this cd is just weird to be listening while you are hanging out with your friends.
I think I said all I had to say.
3-1/2 stars -- If you hate emo, skip this review.......2007-05-14
Plain White T's are another one of those punk-pop bands whose first few albums went unnoticed, but then their recent material got picked up by MTV, thus giving them some exposure. I say "some" because few people seem to own Every Second Counts, but I decided to check it out anyway.
I really didn't think I would like this album all that much because the only song I ever heard from them was the aptly titled "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)". But there are much better songs than that, particularly the first two tracks: "Our Time Now" and "Come Back to Me". And while the acoustic "Write You a Song" is passable, an even better choice would be "Hey There Delilah", a revamped track from the EP of the same name.
But then there's the dud track "Friends Don't Let Friends Dial Drunk", as well as a couple of lyrically challenged songs: "You and Me" and "Figure It Out" (which is indeed hard to figure out: "I'll figure it out as soon as I figure it out"?). Basically, while Every Second Counts isn't a waste of time, the guys should do something to make themselves stand out more because right now they'll probably be considered as one of those "other" emo bands.
Anthony Rupert
If this is good music, I would hate to hear the awful stuff.......2007-04-13
Well well well, looky here, it's America's new favorite band - Plain White T's. 50th verse, same as all those that came before it. Once again the masses have decided to flock behind a band whose sound is simple and derivative, not to mention so glossy and overproduced that the producer should be the one who wins any and all awards that this album may earn - and given the prehistoric, dated tastes of everyone involved with these shams of award shows, I'm sure it will win a whole truckload.
Why is this band so popular right now? That's easy - they have the photogenic pretty boy look that MTV knows is big with their core demographic of teen and pre-teen girls. And their sound - take Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, All American Rejects, Good Charlotte, Sum 41, Green Day and a ton of raw sewage, puree in a blender and pressure cook it for a week, and you have the Plain White T's sound. Basically, it's been done so many times before - the band appeals to all of these people who can't get enough of the same thing over and over and over again. Nothing new in the lyrics department, as it all came from "I Hate (Or Love) My Girlfriend 101". It fascinates me how people can be so enthralled with such mediocrity.
I suppose I could recommend this to lovelorn teen girls who have user names like "Mrs. Wentz" who will probably kiss the cover of this album every night before they go to bed. Put this CD in a multi-disc changer and try to distinguish it from all the similar bands out there - the fact that you won't be able to is an accomplishment in itself, so we need to give Plain White T's that much credit. One song blends into the next as they all chug along at pretty much the same tempo. Songs like "Hate (I Really Don't Like You)" tell you everything you need to know in the title - hey girl, I loved you, but now I don't! Utter genius - Stephen Hawking and Noam Chomsky step aside, here comes Tom Higgenson! But nothing is as utterly repugnant as the piece de resistance, the creme de la crud, if you will, of the PWT oeuvre - "Hey There Delilah", which is inexplicably becoming a huge success on Alternative radio stations nationwide. Not since Hoobastank's "The Reason" (and before that, Green Day's "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)") has a song so clearly aimed at the nursing home demographic made such an impact on this format. Sample lyrics: "Hey there Delilah / What's it like in New York City? / I'm a thousand miles away / But girl tonight you look so pretty / Yes you do / Times Square can't shine as bright as you / I swear it's true". I'll stop right there because you will need a new keyboard if I continue. Somehow these guys managed to write a song so insipid and cheesy that even schlockmeisters like Bread, Air Supply and Michael Bolton would have rejected it. Yes, Plain White T's are amazing, but for all the wrong reasons.
In summary: Four words - been there, done that. Combine that with a front-runner for the sappiest song of the decade and you have a band that may be MTV poster boys right now, but they will be forgotten when the next band full of "hot guys" puts out an album 15 minutes from now. Unless you are looking for what will become an overpriced coaster, I recommend that you save your money. You'll thank me later. And that's my two cents - go ahead, children, feel free to vote Not Helpful ... I may not have enlightened you, but at least I tried.

Very Impressive.......2007-05-24
Lil Wayne Is in my opinion, the king of mixtapes right now. He is avereging about 1 mixtape every three months. This Mixtape is Awesome. Alot of his other mixtapes have people from his record label, and you only get to hear Weezy on one of the verses. However, on this mixtape he does it mainly by himself. This is more like a full cd or two. Great punchlines, I had to rewind a couple of times because I was dumb founded. Definitely worth the buy. Cant wait for his next mixtape!

"I put in so much time," Joe sings in a down'n'dirty rasp on "My Love," one of a handful of tracks on Ain't Nothin' Like Me destined to make hopeless R&B romantics swoon. Then, on the same song, he massages away the worries of fans who've been waiting for new Joe material since 2003: "I've got everything under control," he croons. Despite a bunch of release-date pushbacks, Ain't Nothin' Like Me leaves little room for doubt that he does. This is confident, grown-and-sexy music stirred to a pleasing consistency by slick, super-experienced collaborators--Dre, Nas, and G-Unit heavy-hitters Tony Yayo and Young Buck among them. The chugger "Love is Just a Game" grabs hold with grooves that swirl and echo, opener "Get to Know Me" bumps along to a hot Tim & Bob beat, and "Where You At" wins instant sympathy from the lovelorn and the forsaken with its rueful finger-snaps. Frost-free vocals are put to excellent use throughout, and in a way that doesn't emphasize style over honesty. If there's a misstep here, it's the boastful title--any disc of substance deserves a better one. Still, there ain't nothin' else not to like. --Tammy La Gorce

SO-SO CD By JOE the Artists.......2007-07-06
I Think Joe could have done a better job as far as the song are concern on the CD AIN't Nothin' LIKE ME because From the last CD to this one I think it took about a year to record this one. What I,m trying to say is I,m a fan of Joe,s an I,m from his home town Columbus,GA I expected something with a lot more energy, drive, carizma.Maybe two or three song that would make ya get up on the dance floor and do the don thing know what I mean! But this CD don,t got it.(Sorry Joe)Maybe next time
It keeps gettin betta.......2007-07-05
This is Joe's best cd yet. He mixes it up a bit with more up-tempo tracks than with previous projects, and does a fabulous job at it. I can honestly listen to this cd straight through, there isn't one song I don't like. Considering how talented the brotha really is it shouldn't be that surprising. He continues to evolve as an artist. This is how R&B should be done.
ain't nothin like the other R&B singers.......2007-06-29
joe has been around for years now; but, this new album of his is something else. it has that grown and sexy R&B vibe throughout the whole cd. id recommend this album to anyone who likes R&B. this album is so much better and deeper than the other R&B albums of today.
Don't Sleep On This!.......2007-06-26
Joe has been around the block enough times to know what it takes to put together a solid R&B album. A lot of artists come and go in the music industry because they didn't have the promotional machine behind their albums. Joe has fallen victim to this very same situation, suffering from a lack of sales even though his albums have great songwriting and are well produced. But the son of a preacher man (and preacher woman) continues to push on because of his love for the music. His latest project is Ain't Nothin' Like Me, another banging R&B album on his long list of hot albums. His focus on ballads is obvious, probably since more fans recognize him for his smooth vocals. Songs like "If I Was Your Man" and "I Want Her" are huge standouts that are primed for radio. "My Love" is another contender for a future single with its underlying danceable beat, along with the poetic "It's Me" where he apologizes for stepping out on a relationship. Surprisingly, his song with Nas titled "Get To Know Me" and another with Papoose called "Where You At" are still slow cuts even with the inclusion of the respective rappers. Other songs with a touch of Hip-Hop are stepped up to a mid-tempo groove, namely "Let's Just Do It" with the incognito lyricist Fabolous, the title track with Tony Yayo and Young Buck, and "Just Relax" with Dre (of Cool & Dre.) If you're a long-time fan of Joe, you will certainly enjoy Ain't Nothin' Like Me. The album title says it all.

Flat-Out Unique.......2007-06-21
This is one solid band. Although I enjoyed the demo of "Face Down" (recorded in 2005 or 2006, I believe) more than the re-recorded version on this CD, it gives you some thing a little twisted. And I don't mean that in a horrific or bad way.
It's nearly impossible to fit this band under a genre other than Alternative. Believe me, it is. This band has so many different sounds of music, varying from pop-punk to metal to screamo to post-hardcore, it gives you some thing not very many artists aim for, these days. It's a good change for those looking for some thing new.
"In Fate's Hands" is an energetic start to a great album, as the position of the first track. "...Who finally understand, what it takes to make this dream come true..." It gives you the message that they really write themselves, and really give a crud about their music, and not their image, unlike many mainstream bands. Hell, just look at the band's name.
They have some meaningful lyrics, to say the least. They have a good beat. They have a freaking awesome vocalist (or in this case, vocalists, because since I last checked, they all sing). They have a unique sound. They'll make you go crazy.
Pick this up if you have the money and the chance. You won't be disappointed, let me tell ya.

First of all, I'm over 13. I just just afraid to say my mom's credit card number and real name and everything in the registration. This is a GREAT album. It's not a rip off emo band like a couple people who only gave this album 1 star said. This CD has great songs on it that people can relate to."Seventeen Ain't So Sweet" is probably one of the better songs on this album.

**sigh**.......2007-05-19
this is a rip-off band. it takes all band's work and changes the guitar and lyrics. im sick of emo bands just coming out and all they do is complain, scream about slitting their wrist, and saying how horrible life is. i even saw the music video for Face Down and they have their hair completly in their eyes pertending they are all that. i agree with whoever wrote "This is a Boy-Band that screams"
Blehhk........2007-05-18
Okay, so, this CD was on my listen to list for maybe a couple months but I just never got around to it. Then earlier today, I was disappointed. Possibly the only good songs on this CD are Face Down, and Your Gaurdian Angel. That's all I'm gonna say. So yeah. If you like this kind of "Ooh, look at me, I'm trying to be so hardcore" stuff. Then this CD's for you. If you don't, then don't even bother. All i have to say is...Blehhk.

Customer Reviews:
MacRae and Jones head a superb and O.K. adaptation.......2007-03-16
The film adaptation of Oklahoma heralded a technological breakthrough in widescreen cinema just as the original stage musical ushered in the integrated book musical. As such this film adaptation was treated as a special occasion, well-supervised by the creators themselves. The soundtrack, featured here, boasts sterling performances from MacRae and Jones making the most of their portrayals of Curly and Laurey, backed by a charismatic cast and superb orchestrations. And of course let's not forget the enveloping stereo sound that holds up well even today.
Despite being a Hollywood star, Gordon MacRae performs the part of Curly as if he was born to play it even on the stage. He shines vocally in his renditions of Oh, what a Beautiful Mornin' and Surrey with the Fringe on Top. He is well-partnered by Shirley Jones as a fresh and pert Laurey, lending her beautiful voice to the part. Although we don't hear much of her on this soundtrack, her partnering MacRae in People Will Say We're in Love exudes a masterful chemistry, as if they were setting sparks off at each other in their rendition of the song. Gene Nelson makes a dashing Will Parker and is equally well-matched by Gloria Grahame as Ado Annie. Grahame renders I Cain't Say No splendidly and partners Nelson in All er Nothin'. The supporting cast is filled out by Charlotte Greenwood's suitably caustic Aunt Eller and Rod Steiger's Jud. It's a pity that the film cut the song Lonely Room, otherwise Steiger would have better demonstrated the dark hues of the character of Jud. Yet it all adds up to a wonderful renditionh of this classic musical, enough to elicit a spontaneous YEOW! during this year of the Oklahoma centenary.
This EMI-Angel reissue offers one the advantage of the dance music and the main titles. This means that the listener gets the Kansas City and Farmer and the Cowman dance sequences, as well as the extended Dream Ballet. The only downside is the extraneous sound effects lifted from a DVD copy of the movie. Yes I share many of your sentiments that these sound effects tend to grate, and long for Didier Deutsch to have used the original untainted studio vault versions. However, let's at least be thankful that the CD producers have offered us a more comprehensive version of the Oklahoma soundtrack that we could only have dreamt of in the past.
In short, this is a wonderful and valuable addition to the R&H discography, and is an equally celebrated rendition of the score like the original Broadway cast recording. Warmly recommended to those who seek even their first version of Oklahoma.
Broadway in a movie setting at it's very best!.......2007-03-06
I have the original Broadway version, but prefer this movie selection.
The CD is flawless and, in my opinion, there's nothing better than a Rodgers
and Hammerstein musical for music, lyrics and pure joy! This is the best!
Wonderful.......2007-01-30
A great way to introduce oneself to the world of the nearly extinct Hollywood musical.

Oh, what a beautiful sound!.......2006-03-26
Oklahoma has never sounded better as sung by Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones in the 1955 movie version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's unforgettable Broadway musical. The memory of MacRae's beautiful voice lives on with this CD. I never tire of hearing this wonderful music. From the opening overture to the finale you will feel as though you're right in the theater.
