A very cute, but also very strong collection of early 'Fifties country. Due to a couple of early hits, Roberts was typecast as a novelty song artist -- but since his novelty songs were so good, this was hardly a liability. Features the hit version of the can't-shake-the-chaperone lament, "I Never See Maggie Alone", and the cutesy-wootsy little kid song, "Chocolate Ice Cream Cone." STRONGLY RECOMMENDED.

My Mom played this record for me all the time when I was little (that was a few years ago! ) So the old "vinyl" is not doing to well anymore. We were sure we'd never be able to replace this album with a cd or a tape. Now I play the old scratched up record for my kids - and they LOVE "She taught me to yodel." My mom was sooo excited when I told her I actually found this music again.

This is a fantastic CD. For years I have been trying to find it. We had it on an album but that is long gone. When I'd Yoo-Hoo in the Valley,Boogie Woogie Yodel, and She Taught Me How To Yodel just takes my breath away. I recommend to anyone who loves the sound of the yodel to buy it.

For years I have tried to find a recording of Kenny Roberts works. Finally I found them in this CD. The cuts of '' She taught me how to yodel'' and ''When I yoo hoo in the valley'' are especially good examples of his excelent yodeling. Kenny is a world champion yodeler, and this CD proves it .I highly recomend it.

This album, rendered in the country/hillbilly style of the 40s&50s, is undoutably the very BEST yodeling record avable today or at any time. Kenny Roberts, who is a world champion yodeler, performs with great skill and clarity, some of the most complex and beautiful yodels ever recorded. especially ''She taught me how to yodel'' and ''When I yoo hoo in the valley''. In my opinion, this CD is a colectors item. I have been trying to find a collection of his recordings since I first heard him in the early fiftys, thankfully I finaly found it here.

I love the Weary Boys and I do play this quite a bit, but I admit I mostly go to "Drink On It" and "California Sunset" and hit repeat a few times. There are other good songs on it, but some are better than others. I'm not sure that the cover of "Jambalaya" was absolutely necessary and I'd love to know why "Vaya Con Dios" seemed like a good idea. I liked the earlier albums better; they seemed more focused and less . . . sappy.

And, I'm sorry; I don't expect classical violin but after having played for a certain amount of time, any promising fiddler ought to be able to play in tune. "Raw" is fine; "obviously off key" is irritating.

    This is incredible work! He sounds nothing like he does in Kiss. It's amazing early work that I really enjoyed hearing. Much more diverse than his new CD! Awesome!

    This is a great collection of great music that's being performed by one of the greatest of the rock-a-billy singers, Jumpin' Gene Simmons, one of the original Sun Recording Artist. Sam Philips had him two winners from Tuplo, Elvis and Jumpin' Gene.

    Can't beat 39 tracks on any artist, but generic, boring covers of Rock Around The Clock, Skinny Minnie, Teen-Age Letter, etc. make for a tedious listening. This is for the hard-core oldies or Simmons fan at this price; a cheaper, condensed package would do the average oldies fan just fine.

    More than twenty fiddle tunes in a row - I never thought I could stand that many, even though I really enjoy the sound of the fiddle. But listening to Byron Berline, I feel tempted to push the "repeat" button. The slow waltzes are especially impressive, deceptively simple, played in a way very few can match, sure to give you goose bumps all over. Too bad someone made a mess by getting the song titles in the wrong order on the cover; it is hard to tell which song is which. But who cares when they are all this good...
