About the Artist
It's true. The Two-Minutes Miracles are not technically a band. But the time came to play them live, so the band adopted the album's title by default. Then came the purification process. Here is sludge that was left in the filter: Aaron Curtis plays drums. Andy Magoffin sings and plays guitar. Clayton Corneil plays bass. Micheal Christoff plays keyboards. All four of them (or three, depending on who's in school) share driving duties. Both recording and rehearsal take place in the House of Miracles, a recording studio located in downtown London between a laundromat and a coffin store. A Two-Minute Miracles show can hectic. But it does not pretend to be something that it is not, and it does not rely upon loud volume for its intensity. Watch for the Miracles' road show to hit your town soon.

At least Rod Stewart is consistent. Long accused by critics of selling his considerable interpretative talents short and playing it safe for the trappings of fame, Stewart revisits the font of his latest career revival here. But while 2002's It Had To Be You at least turned on the novelty of hearing raspy Rod the Mod tackle a slate of American pop standards with a boozy, world-weary tone that sometimes reinforced the originals' intent with trans-generational flair, the British rock icon unfortunately reverted to form a year later on this 14-track sequel. Set against the laconic, cocktail-friendly productions of vets Richard Perry and Phil Ramone, Stewart's performances seem strangely detached throughout. Even when offered the chance at some real human interaction on a pair of ill-conceived duets with Cher (who at least attempts to bring some dramatic flair to "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered") and Queen Latifah (whose recent turn in Chicago informs the title track), Stewart seems almost blissfully unaware of their presence. These are songs that virtually demand to be acted out, not phoned in. Brilliant vocal performances often reinforce the notion of "the singer, not the song;" here that old adage sounds more like a suggestion of where to place the blame for this album's disappointments. --Jerry McCulley
Album Description
Produced again by luminaries Richard Perry, Phil Ramone and Clive Davis, Volume II consists of 14 all-timers such as "I'm In The Mood For Love," "Smile," "As Time Goes By," "I Only Have Eyes For You," "Someone To Watch Over Me," "Til' There Was You," and a delicious duet with Cher on "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered," with the almost-never-heard original sexy lyrics.

ANOTHER GREAT ONE!!.......2007-01-23
AGAIN, HERE IS THE GREAT SOUND OF ROD STEWART! AND HIS DUETS ARE GREAT ALSO. THAT IS HALF THE FUN, LISTENING TO THE SPLENDID BLENDING OF VOICES!! I HAVE ALL FOUR OF HIS COLLECTION AND CAN'T WAIT UNTIL #5 ARRIVES IN THE STORES!!!
Incredible.......2007-01-12
I got this CD along with "Thanks for the Memories" by Rod Stewart for my dad and he absolutely loves them. Next time I see him, he said he would save a dance or two for me. Great music!
Smooth and Easy Listening.......2007-01-11
Can't go wrong with this CD and it will keep your feet tapping.
Not Happy.......2007-01-11
I ordered this item thru Amazon but with another company. I never received the album and could not get them to respond to my e-mails.
I finally called Amazon and they refunded my money. Amazon is a stand up company; just don't get envolved with and of there sub companys.
I've since ordered many things from Amazon and usually can't believe how fast they get things to me.

The Most Relaxing Classical Album In the World Eveer, Volume II.......2006-08-28
Good selection of music, poorly performed and badly arranged. Good album for a tag sale. Same comment applies for Volume I.
Great music listein to while you read in bed.......2005-08-21
I have listened to this CD for the last several years before going to sleep at night. I love classical music, and this is great music to help make my soul feel at peace and unwind after a taxing day.
A must buy for the non-snobbish classical music fan........2004-10-22
I bought Vol. 1 of this series and was quite satisfied, but I have to say I'm more than satisfied with this one. If you can just mellow out and enjoy some great pieces, you'll love this CD. #15 on Disc 2 is almost worth the price alone!
A bliss of spirit........2004-09-18
That's disc will open You a wonderful, beautiful world of sounds, their harmony & emotion : you'll feel your heart full of
Joy, Tears, Love.
Good LUCK!
Boring.......2004-05-11
Yes this CD will put you to sleep in minutes. Its the most boring uninspiring classical music. The first CD was very good but this Vol. 2 is like most movie sequels....AWFUL !

Prank Phone Call Volume II.......2006-12-01
Funny CD. You really need to start at the beginning and follow his progress. If you want some wholesome laughs, this is the cd for you. Great to share at family gatterings. The cd arrived 9 days after I actually ordered it, but it did arrive. I recommend that if you need it immediately you request priority service.
Rickey Smiley.......2005-09-19
Friggin great. I just listened to this CD at my friends house. He has multiple persnalities and halarious lines. I dont see how he could keep from laughing. Then again, i'm a 14 year old boy, but buy this and you'll laugh your a$$ off
Rickey is talented on his own, there was no need to bite........2005-06-18
Sigh...Due to recent business and vacation road trips & long days, I have been listening to my share of comedians on CD for the past 4-5 years on a regular basis. I was very disappointed in this CD. Rickey has copied some antics & styles from other well known comedians like the Jerky Boys, Roy D. Mercer and other Prank Call comedians. Copy cat antics are the greatest form of flattery when it is not at a customer's expense! It was obvious that it was the same thing. In one prank, he was calling someone wanting to go to Hawaii and kept saying it- We all know that the 'Hawaii bit' was from the Crank Yankers with the special needs boy calling the travel agency. It was on Comedy Central and is on audio CD. We heard it from them, it was funny, once it is done again by someone else under a guise, it is just dumb. Also, some of the old church lady antics were fine, but it just did not have any punch. They ended with him laughing, but I sure was not and neither was anyone else I know that has heard it.
He also, with little shame it appears, talked about 'whooping someone's ass'- we all know who said that! Roy D. Mercer! 'How big a boy are ya?!" These are classic prank calls that Rickey borrowed the style from, but it did not flow. Comedians should never borrow each other's material. Rickey Smiley is a wonderful stand up comedian and he has an original style that is unique and untampered with, however, this CD delivered few laughs. I will NEVER buy any of his prank CDs again. I was actually embarassed for him, while listening to it! If he thinks that African Americans don't 'cross over' and listen to comedians that are not black, he is sadly mistaken. I do, and that is how I know that he bit another man's style. How pathetic! My husband and I could barely get through it. It was like crickets chirping. If I could get my money back, I would. Don't waste your money on this, instead, buy his standup CDs and dvds. You'll be a heck of a lot happier.
ANOTHER MASTERPIECE!.......2005-01-09
RICKEY DOES IT AGAIN WITH HIS CHURCH RELATED PRANKS AND TURNS IT INTO GOLD. I HAVE NO CLUE WHY THESE AREN'T IN STORES, BUT DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND BUY THIS!
Listen To The Truth.......2004-09-12
You will laugh your ass off. He is the most underated comedian out there. YOU NEED TO BUY THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As the great grand children of Captain von Trapp they have inherited the family`s unique musical gift. Their beautifully blended voices bring a fresh, pure sound to a diverse variety of music in this debut recording.

The von Trapp Children are terrific singers! Their voices blend together just great. I can't wait to get the other two cds they have out!
Great!.......2004-11-27
These children are really fantastic! I loved every second of them singing. There voices are so clear and they blend together so perfectly. They are such a joy to hear and have added on to their family legacy! Buy this CD, you won't be sorry!
Wow! Magnificient Talent!!!.......2003-02-01
I am currently listening to this remarkable CD with that blissful madrigal talent passed down to these children.
My cat came and sat next to the speakers, which he has never done before, when the lovely voices sang so eloqenntly
and wonderously high.
I am so thankful this is available through Amazon!!!

Outstanding Organ Music.......2004-01-11
If you enjoy the sounds that the mighty Wurlitzer Pipe Organ can produce - you'll enjoy this album. George Wright is probably the best ever at mastering the multiple banks of keys and pedals of this complex instrument, and the music is very relaxing and entertaining. The sounds he coaxes out of the Wurlitzer on "Quiet Village" are remarkable. Easily one of his best - excellent on either a small office stereo, or played on a home theater system.

The legend of Johnny Cash has loomed even larger since his death, though this 20-cut anthology appears designed more to capitalize on that legend than enhance it. While it chronologically spans nearly half a century, the scattershot selection seems almost arbitrary: a few hits (though none of the biggest), a few lesser-known album cuts (though not necessarily his best), and a better sampling of the career-reviving recordings he made with producer Rick Rubin that reestablished him as an alt-rock icon. Among the highlights are the irresistibly cheesy "Ballad of a Teenage Queen" from his early Sun Records days, the socially conscious "Ballad of Ira Hayes" (the Marine whose story is told so movingly in Flags of Our Fathers), and a live, fully orchestrated rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Bird on a Wire." This might fill a gap for those who want to go deeper into the Cash legacy than a greatest-hits collection but aren't ready to splurge on a definitive box set. --Don McLeese
Customer Reviews:
Well selected career-spanning single disc.......2006-11-22
This 20-track collection is a good follow-up to last year's volume one. Both offer up seminal Cash sides, from his early days at Sun through his golden years at Columbia, his stay at Mercury in the '80s and his career capping sides for American. Both volumes also sandwich themselves in the narrow space between single-disc hit collections and deeper anthologies like 1992 and 2002's "Essential" titles, 2000's thematic "Love, God, Murder," 2005's 4-disc "The Legend," or Bear Family's oppressive triple-shot of box sets.
Both single-disc "Legend" volumes sample from the entire length of Cash's career, which means that they necessarily short-change any one phase, and leave out some seminal album releases. What you get instead is a sketch - rather than a full-color picture - of Cash's artistic arc, from slap-back echo at Sun through his righteous songs of the man in black, and finishing with stark, folk-styled renditions recorded with Rick Rubin for the American label.
Cash's fans may find this selection of tracks to be scattershot, duplicative of discs they already own, or unrepresentative of their particular favorites. But fans with deep Cash collections aren't the audience for this release. Instead, the songs have been selected and sequenced to make a compelling spin for new converts, those inspired by Cash's passing and subsequent biopic. And for these new fans, the Legend discs provide a good introduction to Cash's vast catalog that provides a bird's eye view from which to zoom in on specific eras or styles. Awesome score.......2004-08-11
They should've gotten Ron Jones to do First Contact instead of Goldsmith. This is the kind of score you need for an epic battle with the Borg. Wonderful action sequences with stirring strings and threatening brass. And the Borg theme is just marvelous. Ron Jones or Dennis McCarthy or even Jay Chattaway should do all future Star Trek motion picture scores.
Makin' The Best of Star Treký Even Better!.......2002-06-22
I consider the two-parter The Best Of Both Worlds© to be Star Trek's most pivotal & influential episodes, and the soundtrack does a beautiful job in adding to the feel and suspense. Although Ron Jones' compositions on this CD aren't quite as ambitious as the tunes one would hear in the Star Trek movies, his efforts did help make these two watermark NextGen episodes seem truly grand and larger than life. The military style of some of the tunes also gives a warlike tone to the show, as the Enterprise and the Federation fight desperately to stop the Borg invasion.
Each track complements the scene it plays in almost perfectly. One good example is Hansen's Message©, which plays through the end of the scene in Part One when the crew sees the Borg ship for the first time. The moment itself is chilling, but with the music, along with the crescendo at the climax, it becomes even more suspenseful! Another great tune to complement the moment is Intervention©, heard in Part Two when Worf and Data sneak into the Borg ship to rescue Picard (now changed into the Borg Locutus) and get him back to the Enterprise.
Thanks to the synergy between the music and the scenes, The Best of Both Worlds© becomes a whole lot more than the sum of its visual & musical parts!

I LOVE it it is so very relaxing to listen to on occations when you need a dose of Star Trek.
A Great Score For A Television Show.......2001-04-22
Without comparing this TV score to that of a film, I would consider this an excellent TV score. Hearing the Alexander Courage's version of Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek theme really opens the album up. It is really a shame that it appears only once or twice in minor situations because then it would mean this score has some trace of thematic development like film scores do. The Borg theme, played by a synthesized chorus, sounds very mysterious yet somewhat hostile and threatening. You have to have seen the show to know what's happening because there's barely any thematic music to base what's happening on. The strings and celeste playing on the tracks before the borg encounter adds the sense of mysterious but foreshadowed danger. The battle tracks between the borg and Enterprise aren't upbeat like scores from John Williams or Horner but sound much more suspenseful and average-paced like on Crimson Tide. Ron Jones seems to back off on fast-paced string and brass parts and prefers edgy brass and percussion coupled with electronics. Away Team Ready is a haunting, military-like cue as some people prepare to board the borg ship. An unused cue for the exploration of the borg ship sounds very far and dissonant like on The Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi, and Aliens. Both are very original sounding. Let me admit that the music on the second and final fight between the Enterprise and Borg ship heats up but leaves more to be desired. Of course, this is a TV score scored under a period of a week so forget what I just said for any film score fan. After a bittersweet ending stopping with an afterthought, the brilliant Star Theme comes up for the credits and draws this score to a close. I recommend this original score for anyone who has seen the borg episode of TNG but don't expect a Star Wars score here for any film score collectors.
Stirring score for an epic tale.......2001-01-29
Fans of the syndicated television show "Star Trek: The Next Generation" may remember the two-part episode "The Best of Both Worlds" as a high point for the series, and for science fiction television in general. This cliffhanger and its resolution constituted the third season finale and fourth season premiere. In the story, the United Federation of Planets faces an invasion by the Borg, a seemingly unstoppable cybernetic race that "assimilates" whole civilizations into its insect-like "collective." Captain Picard and the crew of the Starship Enterprise represent the Federation's only hope against this relentless enemy.
Such an epic tale calls for an epic musical score, and composer Ron Jones delivers. His music pounds with excitement during the thrilling space battle sequences. He makes brilliant use of eerie musical effects to capture the alien nature of the Borg Collective and its dispassionate "drones." He also brings out all of the emotion of the heroic struggle of the Enterprise crew to save the Federation from conquest and assimilation. But it's not all big, bombastic space opera music; Jones also pays attention to more intimate moments between the crew.
Yes, "The Best of Both Worlds" was a landmark in the ongoing, multigenerational "Star Trek" saga, and Ron Jones' superb score is an integral part of the story. This is an essential disc for fans of science fiction soundtracks.

Is this a sick joke?.......2007-02-12
There seems to be a constant buzz around his name... one can tell simply by the fact that there is a Glenn Gould edition. And of course, the grotesque flattery his name is given - Glenn Gould, the troubled genius!
That said, it is all as empty as his performances of Beethoven. This is passion? This is a lie! Glenn Gould has never touched a score without the urge to use it to make himself look good. He plays every passage of everything he touches, not with the music in mind, but with the ambition of his performance being different than any other. There is nothing wrong with originality and this so-called "audacity"! Needless to say, Beethoven's music was different than any other music when he composed it. But in Beethoven's case this was because he was constantly learning as he composed how to deeply express himself! He wrote different music because the music there was wasn't capturing his feelings and dreams as he needed it to. Gould's renditions of these masterpieces are, on the other hand, originality for its own sake - simply in the name of appealing to every pseudo-intellectual who listens to music (and believe me, there are far too many of them) with a fit of avant-garde vulgarity.
Take for example the Adagio of Op. 109 ... a piece of utmost luminescence and tenderness. Other performers know to play this piece sweetly and slowly, to let every note ring as though it is traveling to infinity, but precisely since this is the way the sonata is performed (and the way Beethoven intended it - if you don't believe me simply see the amount of instructions and specifications he wrote in the scores of these sonatas), Gould plays it faster, cutting off the notes in mid-ring, and then draws out parts which are meant to flow more quickly, only further removing the listener from the peace they are meant to feel. Op. 109 is one of Beethoven's most serene and tender compositions, and he wrote it with a sense of peace, of the sighs of a pining lover, in mind. Gould's rendition attempts (but fails, as no charlatan's lies can ever overshadow a spirit like Beethoven's) to transform this work into an expression of loss and isolation.
Gould constantly receives high praise based mostly on his Bach performances. Those are, at least, bearable and at times among the best, simply because Bach's music affords a great deal of freedom to the performer to express the work as they like... and in that case Gould's urge to play everything differently than everyone else can provide a unique perspective of the genius of Bach. Beethoven's music, and especially his piano works, do no such thing! He worked in the outer realms of perfection, where a piece was often one note, one slip away from sailing headlong into oblivion. Of course he wrote lovingly enough to spare room for a performer who understood his voice to add a personal touch - take Wilhelm Kempff, who plays Op. 109 in a way that draws me to tears, while adding his own personal voice to the performance. The difference between the two is that Kempff approched Beethoven humanely, while Gould approaches Beethoven as he approached any piece at all, intellectually, as though it were some new bit of postmodern philosophy. This is sickening beyond words.
To conclude concisely: I almost recommend this from an academic perspective for a listener or budding pianist to see how not to approach Beethoven (though as a pianist it seems even the most horrific performances dressed up in intellectuality earn a great deal of praise), but if you want to hear Beethoven's music with the intensity, fantasy, and spirituality it was written in, I suggest you enter "Beethoven piano sonatas -Gould" in your search box and try again.
GET GOULD's BEETHOVEN!..........2006-05-23
GG does something with Beethoven: the voicing, the phrasing, the accents--all brilliantly insightful and ingenious. Not to mention GG's miraculous digital ability: he had skills like no other: he does things because he COULD do things. You see?
The Opp. 31s are great; but the real treat is the last great three sonatas Opp. 109-11. I have Pollini; I have Kempff--whom I usually prefer to anyone with Beethoven; still, Gould beats them all here. I just keep listening to GG's Opp. 109-11 over and over again. Each hearing reveals new exquisitenesses.
Also, the Appassionata here is read in a similar fashion to GG's realization of the HammerKalvier: magnificent. You have to put down your tired old prejudices, and come to the work of Art as an unique phenomenon. Understand?!
An original approach!.......2005-06-17
Shakespeare and Beethoven are two powerful examples that show that no matter you face his work, even how terrible you play his message they resist as a big tree any intention, they simply are far beyond the present circumstance, they talk to the best of ourselves and the power of synthesis and strong conviction make them indestructible.
Glenn Gould's approach is an irreverent reading, trying to diminish the epic in some Sonatas and emphasizing the grief and passion. That's why the whole sum can produce great positive surprises but also terrible disappointments. For instance I love his version of the Op. 49, The Adieux, The Funeral March, Second, third and Seventh Sonatas, and even the Moonlight, the Tempest and the op. 110, because somehow this last Sonata reflects more than any other else the intimate universe of Mr.Gould.
I mean, do not expect glorious results from the Waldstein or Hamerklavier. I know Gould to guess he could do a best performance but simply didn ` t because his intention was clearly to refuse the argument lines and the historicity. I agree totally with him in what concerns with the absence of any Romantic approach with Beethoven, and in this sense he triumphs in several works due the true Beethovenian dissonances must sound hard, bitter and wild.
simply the funniest.......2003-09-25
My perfect antidote to any form of depression: The irreverent side of Glenn Gould, deconstructing the hallowed Appassionata sonata, showing that the emperor, in this case, was without clothes.
The whole record is perceptive, revealing new insights (and opinions) on Beethoven`s music. But it is not a representative Beethoven piano recording, and should be supplemented with one of the many excellent "correct" recordings that exist - Alfred Brendel is but one example.
This is for those who appreciate Gould`s unique and always fresh way of making music come alive and speak to you. Enjoy!
Audacity indeed!.......2003-08-24
. . . as in daring, courageousness, nerve and guts--the kind of audacity Beethoven exhibited in composing music is not unlike the audacity Glenn Gould exhibited in performing it.
As can be seen from the reviews for any number of his recordings, whether or not one will appreciate Gould's rendition of a piece depends largely on whether one generally appreciates the challenges Gould presented to both composer and traditional interpretations of that composer's work. The consensus on Gould's Bach is so overwhelmingly affirmative that today it becomes difficult to escape his influence on how--or even what--Bach is played at the keyboard (e.g., note how many Goldberg renderings have appeared in the 20 years since Gould's death--a piece he owned during his lifetime and rescued out of relative obscurity in 1955). To play Bach in an entirely original way at the keyboard today requires some degree of deconstruction of how Glenn Gould played it. These Beethoven sonatas are likewise entirely original renderings since Gould consciously deconstructed the manner in which they "ought" to have been played.
For those too caught up in how Beethoven should be played, this recording is probably not for them. But for those who are interested in how Beethoven might be played, it is highly recommended. Gould's rendering of the "Appassionata"--heavy, pensive and truly unique--is deeply moving, as is the bright and playful "Pastorale". Both renderings are perhaps unintended tributes to the composer who set music free.
