Outstanding Performance and Collection of Songs.......2006-03-29
I am impressed with the quality of the Gramercy Brass Ensemble's performance of these traditional American Patriot pieces.
Beautiful sound, outstanding musicianship, classic yet spirited arrangements, and wide variety from national anthems to branch-specific armed forces hymns.
I would recommend this recording to anyone looking to hear American Patriotic music at its best. A very nice CD.
Great Patriotic CD.......2004-02-21
This is a great CD if you ever need or want to have patriotic music. American music played by an American brass band. This group sounds terrific. For those of you unfamiliar with brass band, it is comprised of 25 brass players and 2 or 3 percussionists. You get a rich, full sonority and these guys play GREAT! This CD is HIGHLY recommended to all bras players who want to hear tone quality, timbre, intonation, and more. Band directors would be wise to use this as a model for their students for everything from pitch to phrasing. Everybody else would be wise to pick it up if you like Americana. I know people who use this for their commute because it is upbeat and uplifting. Excellent CD!!!! You may also want to check out their second CD entitled "Christmas Time Is Here". Also highly recommended.

Customer Reviews:
Visitor to Australia.......2006-04-12
I was exposed to John Williamson when my sister came back from Australia 13 years ago. When my wife and children and I visited for a month a couple of years later, we picked up a few John WIlliamson tapes and played them as we drove from North to South. His songs, became our songs and we returned home knowing most by heart. Up to recently, we have had to buy his cd's by shopping via the net in Australia. It is great to see Williamson's titles available at Amazon.
Anthems CD.......2005-10-22
I just got this CD for my birthday...and Amazon.com was the only place to purchase it!!! I went on an EF Tours trip to Australia in June and was introduced to a song that our bus driver, Matt, played over the speakers....it soon became our favorite request. The song was "True Blue". Soon after our trip began, our trip coordinator, Byril, taught us fun motions to a song that became our theme song "Home Among the Gum Trees". The clincher was the unashamed emotion brought on by "Waltzing Matilda (With 100,000 Voices)" and the pride even we non-Australians felt when that song was played. There is no question that memories of my fabulous Australia trip has a soundtrack with the songs of John Williamson.
all 20 songs.......2002-07-20
forget about australia verses america. This album is just good value. John Williamson is a credit to australia an icon to those who would be fair dinkum (honest & true) & the son that every parent would wish for.
If I had to repay every positve thought, or feeling that John's words & music have gifted to me, I would have no time to do anything else in my life.
The chance to see him live should not be missed & more importantly, the chance to instill, values that he & his songs give to us, should never be forgoten or unused.
To John Williamson,
If you ever read this, I would like you to know, that I am a succesfull & highly regarded tradesman in the mostly working class city of Newcastle. My reason for expressing my views is because you are 'Fair Dinkum' as I hope I am, & I think if my father was still alive he would say the same.
thankyou for your music, your lyrics, your heart & your soul.
yours fraternally
sam.
Finally available.......2001-02-12
I was first exposed to John Williamson's music 12 years ago now and had worn out all of my tapes. It was good to see a CD available again that had some of the old titles I remembered (True Blue, Galleries of Pink Gallahs,...). A very nice CD for those who want to re-visit Australia through some wonderful musical pictures. He sings like an Australia proud of his country and the land in which he lives. To get a feel for that country, beyond what most tourist will ever see listen to this CD.

Not Just For Truckers.......2007-03-08
This collection contains not only a slew of your juke box fav's,
but also old rocker tunes too. This is for everyone who enjoys music
from Johnny Cash to Canned Heat, from Willie Nelson to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils. This CD is guaranteed to bring you old anthems, and perhaps, as for me, a tune or two I did not have in my collection such as Johnny Cash's "Busted." The range of these cd's from Boxcar Willie to Woody Guthrie and John Mayall and Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen convey a musical sense over a long period of time and cannot be contained in a single genre. This is for popular music lovers everywhere. From Country to Country Rock to Rock from Ferlin Husky to Elton John and more. If you do not like this cd, you will have NO PROBLEM on the secondary market - believe me. If you take the occasional day trip, this will be an essential glove-box favorite!

Product Description
NYC newcomers THE FAME deliver the soundtrack to summer 2005 with their debut EP Get On The Beat - six perfect rock anthems bursting with pop hooks from start to finish. These are songs to blare from car stereos in high school parking lots across the country.
"The hard-rocking Fame, whose un-self-conscious party anthems are perfect boom-box-at-the-barbecue fodder, are slowly infiltrating the mainstream." -NEW YORK MAGAZINE

Customer Reviews:
Bands like The Fame are why rock and roll is here to stay........2005-08-31
I have read the great reviews of The Fame from New York sources I trust and ever since I got this CD, I cannot take it out of my car CD player--it says "play this loud" and you must--it will definitely improve your mood. These kids ROCK--but it's so intelligently free and fun--the songs are supreme rock--the sound is crisp and clean, the harmonies recall Beatles-esque sweetness but the lead vocals by Reno Bo defintely have an edge. The rhythm section is powerful and articulate and the guitar work is masterful but never overwhelms the demands of the song--it is perfectly balanced and a joy to hear. Rock on, The Fame!!! Make more recordings, quick!
Fresh and Fun.......2005-08-29
Finally, a new band that doesn't make me want to kill myself.

Album Description
The Plains is the new project of singer/songwriter Aaron Semer. The debut album, On Earth as it is in Heaven, is a mixture of country tinged rock anthems, minimalist folk tunes and a dose of Ennio Morricone influenced spaghetti westerns. Semer takes his listener on a poignant aural journey where one is transported across the landscapes of dying rural cities and a disillusioned minimum-wage work force. One senses not sympathy, but a deeper appreciation for the working class of America, which makes the album not only a critique of modern society, but also a celebration of life. These songs sit nicely beside more personal, heartfelt outpourings.
The album was recorded on 8 track reel-to-reel by John Randolph (Kinski, Hello From Waveland), mixed by Conrad Uno (Mudhoney, Posies), and mastered by Barry Corliss (Modest Mouse).

boss! dee plains!! dee plains!!.......2003-10-29
i saw these swiffer-monkeys at the Mars bar and said to myself - "weeeeelllll lookie here a band that might sound good both at home on CD AND live." that's a rare moment for me. they have some juice on stage as well (thus the swiffers) which is a plus! be sure to visit theplains, net.
oh yeah.......2002-12-10
what a wonderful piece of music. Sure hope that boy goes far. Makes me think of them cold nights in Ohia. Buy it, or play the fool!
Sounds Divine.......2002-11-12
The unique combination of melodic voice, guitar and kickin' drums intrigued me when I heard snippets of this debut album. The alt.country influenced rock tunes are by turns melancholic and ecstatic, but always intense and beautifully performed. The songs linger in my head; I have been listening to this album regularly and finding something new and delightful each time. I hope that this is just the beginning of a lifetime of inspired music by Mr. Semer.
