About the Artist
Hi, I'm Ben Sullivan...a songwriter, a poet and performer. I grew up just outside of Little Rock, Arkansas. My parents still live on the small farm where I go home to reconnect and place my feet on the ground. We lived at the end of the road, in paradise, where silence is friendly and nature hums my harmonies and helps to quiet my mind.

I've always been a writer. Poetry at first. Then, my teachers encouraged short stories and one-act plays. All the while, I would get off my school bus, walk down our gravel road and strum my young stories on my Mother's old Sears and Roebuck Silvertone Acoustic. I still love playing this guitar. It has written many songs and touched at least two lives along the way. Its emotion and sound have reverberated through coffee shops, bars and beaches. Thank you, Mom, for handing over this treasure and empowering me to sing our Southern story and share the love with the world.

You know I had huge dreams; dreams bigger than Little Rock could show me. My wise Dad sat me down and gently nudged me onto I-40 West; west to California, where I could writ my songs and in a fews years time--produce my first album, "Pardon My Mess."

With my family's blessing and all the money I'd saved, we loaded a U-Haul trailer and Mom and Dad pulled my few possessions to Los Angeles as I followed--for the last time. PARDON MY MESS

Growing up is an unannounced thing. One Friday you awake a litte later than usual, you glance over your date book and shockingly you discover, five years are gone. Inside the beginning and end of this notion, life has cycled. Final goodbyes consumed you, changes of address ruined you, airlines delayed you, friendly faces disappeared and astonishingly you realize...I'm Grown Up. Now what? THE ALBUM

I had begun this effort many times. I had recorded my songs in a kitchen while the up and coming engineer monitored the process from his upstairs loft. I have recorded my music in a state of the art studio in North Hollywood. I even recorded a demo in Nashville with expert session players.

This journey has been educational. And perhaps the most significant thing I learned, I taught myself. I must always adhere to the integrity of my songs. They are, after all, gifts from mystical air. Gifts which find themselves on the lines of my notebooks; on my breath as it leaves my lips.

I tested different music producers until I found the perfect fit between producer and artist.

Enter Marty Rifkin. I am very proud of what Marty and I constructed into an album. His work is masterful and his heart is generous. You can hear that in every note on this cd.

These songs are tender stories told from my soul. They are observations, snapshots of travels; portraits of characters I meet everyday. They are my footsteps as I walk through life, and I want every verse to be heard.

Currently, I live in Los Angeles, right in the midst of my musical dream. I am enjoying promoting "Pardon My Mess" and learning this business of music. Most of all, I am enjoying this skin that surrounds Ben Sullivan, and I learn everyday how good it is to be me. Enjoy the stories, Ben

Pardon My Mess,Ben Sullivan,Ben Sullivan,Country-Soul; Ben is a Storyteller, and his songs are sung with honest yearning. These songs are snapshots of his surroundings (past, present and otherworldly), and they are expertly produced by LA's Marty Rifkin

The Boston Globe ("warmly sophisticated songs") and Boston Soundcheck ("lush, beautiful, poetic, a reflective emotional ride") are both right! This is a very listenable CD. Try it, you'll like it!

5 out of 5 stars just relax, unwind and breathe.......2003-11-14

I knew Ben before california and and am happy to know that he has kept his style unique. These songs are true Ben Sullivan and are sung with honesty and feeling. Take a long drive, relax, unwind, feel and reflect. Looking forward to the next album. Anything is possible!!!

5 out of 5 stars Real songs from a real man.......2002-06-20

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Sullivan,at my place of employment, during a visit he made to San Diego , not knowing who he was or what he did. He was charming, fun and adventurous (though he did NOT sing at our Kareoke that night). So, it came as a suprise to find that he has released a CD.
Like him the songs are full life, from the happy moments of discovering love, finding ones self, to letting go and saying your last goodbyes. It is rare to find a Singer/Songwriter that not only protrays the emotions of a song ... but when you meet them ... you know that they feel what they sing.
I met the man behind the music for but a short time; but to listen to his songs, is to listen to Ben Sullivan as well. So pick up the CD and meet a man that has been touched by life, and shares that gift, by touching ours with his music

5 out of 5 stars Momumental Movement.......2001-11-28

The man and the CD moved me. I recently heard it (I believe it was 3 times in one night) while sharing a bottle of wine with new friends. They were the ones who introduced me to this man who calls himself Ben. He sings from his soul and seems to have a very deep one. This is a must have for anyone who wants to make monumental movements in their life. A must have for soulful walks!
