Customer Reviews:
The ultimate duet vocalists........2004-08-03
These import two-fers' are terrific. They feature terrific sound quality and great packaging. The albums included are:
UNITED (1967; with Tammi Terrell) **** (4 out of 5) After artistically promising but commercially unrewarding collaborations with Mary Wells and Kim Weston, Motown finally captured lighting in a bottle by pairing Marvin with the demure Tammi Terrell. The incredibly attractive pair were born to sing with one another, and remain one of the all-time great duos in the history of recorded sound. Three big hits were scored right out of the box, including the immortal cuts "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" (#19 Pop, #3 R&B), "Your Precious Love" (#5 Pop, #2 R&B), and "If I Could Build My Whole World Around You" (#10 Pop, #2 R&B). The rest of the album follows the fairly disjointed `60s Motown formula, however "Two Can Have A Party," "Give A Little Love," and the beautiful, Gaye-penned "If This World Were Mine" (which received some airplay as the flip side of "If I Could") are almost as strong as the majestic singles. There are a few faulty selections (such as the silly "Sad Wedding" and the unbelievably straight-faced cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra's hit "Something Stupid"), but Marvin and Tammi's immense chemistry can make even the most worn clichés seem new and exciting
YOU'RE ALL I NEED (1968; with Tammi Terrell) ****1/2 (4.5 out of 5) Stronger album tracks and a more unified feel make Marvin and Tammi's second release together superior to their first. The big hits "Ain't Nothing Like The Real Thing" (#8 Pop, #1 R&B) and "You're All I Need To Get By" (#7 Pop, #1 R&B) are two of the finest singles to ever grace the Motown label. The third single "Keep On Lovin' Me Honey" (#25 Pop, #11 R&B) was less successful, but is just as amazing as any of the duo's other hits. Unlike many of Motown's sixties releases, the singles are not the only strong tracks on YOU'RE ALL I NEED. Several of the album tracks are nearly as stunning as the singles and sound like they could have been hits in their own right, including the infectious "You Ain't Livin' Until You're Lovin'" and the joyous "When Love Comes Knocking At My Heart."
In an effort to save time, over half of the "duets" were actually recorded separately. Most of these were Tammi's previously unreleased solo songs, with Gaye's vocals added later. The overdubbing is seamless though, and the chemistry between Gate and Terrell vocals is remarkable. "I Can't Help But Love You" and "That's How It's Been (Since You've Been Gone) are perfect pop and, for my money, their version of "Come On And See Me" is superior to both Tammi's original solo version and the later version by the Supremes. YOU'RE ALL I NEED is the finest album Motown released in the sixties, and it stands as Gaye and Terrell's golden moment together.
Their only two genuine duet albums.......2003-08-16
In theory, Marvin and Tammi recorded three albums together, but Tammi was desperately ill and dying at the time the third album was being recorded, so for most of it, Tammi was replaced by Valerie Simpson, although it was Tammi's name that appeared on the album and the singles that came from it. So the two albums featured on this collection are the only albums that Marvin and Tammi recorded together.
The first album, United, yielded three American hit singles - Ain't no mountain high enough (top twenty), Your precious love (top five) and If I could build my world around you (top ten). In Britain, only the last of these charted and even then it was only a minor hit. There are plenty of other great duets here including a cover of Nancy and Frank Sinatra's Something stupid.
The second album, You're all I need, yielded two American top ten hits - Ain't nothing like the real thing and You're all I need to get by - that also charted in Britain, though less successfully. Keep on loving me honey became an American top thirty hit. Its B-side, You ain't living till you're loving, became a British top thirty hit. As with the United album, there are plenty of great album cuts here.
Since I bought this collection, a double-CD has been released in both Britain and America titled The complete duets. The tracks on this set form the first 24 tracks of the first CD of that collection. The rest of that collection includes the so-called third duet album, plus some of Tammi's solo recordings and various alternate takes. If you just want the definitive versions of the songs that Marvin and Tammi recorded together, this twofer will be sufficient. I looked at the track listing of the other collection and the only important tracks not available here can be found on various other Motown compilations.

Album Details
Two Track Single, the First Single Taken from their Album "Super Extra Gravity".
Customer Reviews:
Cardigans are Back!.......2005-10-05
This is the first single taken from the forthcoming Cardigans album "Super Extra Gravity". They have brought back producer Tore Johansson, who was absent on their previous album "Long Gone Before Daylight" and his influence seems to be quite big. "Long Gone Before Daylight" was a very melodic album and a great warm production, whereas "Gran Turismo" has a simpler and "colder" approach. Taken from these two new tracks their sound seems to be tending mostly towards "Gran Turismo". "I Need Some Fine Wine" is a pop-rocker perhaps slightly in the same vein as "My Favourite Mistake", without being as immediately catchy. Still a great song - and I rather enjoyed the video for it, too. The second track "For the Boys" is just as good, slightly softer and more melodic. Interesting that the song is not listed on the new album; which obviously makes this single even more worthwhile.

Step in the right direction, but loose the raps........2003-09-26
"Boy" was a good single for her and the video did well on MTV, but no one is yet treating her as seriously as they used to. She needs to loose all the rappers. While I am a huge Hip-Hop fan, she needs to realize she is not Ashanti (very mediocore), Beyonce, Mya or Nivea. She is a distinguished, multi-platnum selling diva. I mean, listen to Celine and Whitney's recent albums and then listen to "Boy"! Mariah needs more mature efforts. I do give her props for effectively mixing Cam'rons hit last summer with her tight R&B grooves. However, "Boy" doesnt live up to the "Fantasy" Remix with ODB or "Sweetheart" with JD. Get her earlier stuff instead.
Dance Mariah, Dance.......2003-08-22
Theer is sometimes where an danced up version of a song, or the actual song can not seem to show the true taste of the talent of the artist. In the case of Mariah Carey, she seemed to have it all wrapped all over again. After her tragic breakdown and gossip columns budging, she was ready. Too bad I wish I could say the same thing about the song. As for the most recent song, Boy (I need you), the song really doesn't seem to live to those expectations you'd see from Mariah. Although it seemed easy to catch at first, it stood still and fell down after the second listen. Still, I think that Mariah should try to go back to those ballads soon, like she did with Through The Rain. Maybe people should be reminded of that reason Mariah made it after all, not here.
Mariah is back on top form.......2003-04-13
The second single from the great album Charmbracelet, BOY is one of Mariah's best songs to date.
BOY uses the "Oh Boy" smaple made famous by Cam'ron last year. It in fact even features Cam'ron and he has become Mariah's newest rapper friend. BOY is irresistible from the first note to the very last one. The jerky hip hop beat suits Mariah's silky vocals perfectly, Mariah has never sounded this good.
The remixes are not to bad either but cannot beat the the album version.
Street Remix was remixed by Just Blaze who produced Mariah's and Cam'ron's versions. It again features Cam'ron but also Juelz Santana, Jimmy Jones and Freeway. This remix is probably the best remix on the CD and it gives it more of an underground hip hop feel and it will probably be a sucess in the clubs.
Topnotch L8 Mix slows down BOY and gives it a new beat which gives more of a sexy feel.
Topnotch Tox Mix is a remix of the first Topnotch remix and is the best of the two. It is still slow and sexy but now has a more dancey feel to it.
BOY is one of the best songs Mariah has ever released and could well be the one to take her straight back to the top where she belongs.
GREAT SONG.......2003-04-10
I just ordered this along with the other "Boy (I Need You)" singles, they're great. I truely recommend them!

Mariah (I Want You).......2006-11-29
This is one of the most fun and best songs Mariah has ever recorded. It may not have been a huge hit, but it's still a great song! The lyrics are awesome and she and her voice is so sexy!!
Truth Hurts.......2005-10-16
I loooove this song. Mariah is truly talented. As for the commentator about Mariah's use of rappers and being ghetto, I guess your Irish grandmother isn't, because 1) Collaborating with rappers doesn't make one "ghetto" 2) Working with Black artists doesn't make one "ghetto" or we'd add Tim McGraw (Nelly), Fred Durst, and many other artists to that list, and 3) Get a clue, where have you been, Mariah is biracial, with Black heritage. She's free to work with as many Black and/or "rappers" she chooses to. She's has the membership card. But, I don't think your grandmother does. Oh and, while I like Ashanti, if you haven't noticed, she can't really dance and I found her form of singing kind of bubble gum-like, also....
Girl (I Need You).......2005-07-13
I just love this single so much. This song was one of the reason why I became a fan. I started my search for more CD's of her. This song is so good. The lyrics are fun and that's why I love it. The music video is so beautiful. She looks so hot in that video. This song is taken from the "Charmbracelet" CD, I love that CD. Almost as much as I love her latest CD "The Emancipation Of Mimi". Girl I Need You!!
Oh, Dear.......2005-06-29
What's with Mariah and the rappers? Mariah is about as "ghetto" as my 89-year-old Irish grandmother. She needs to return to her white-girl ballads and leave the hip-hop to Ashanti and Ciara.
Awesome c.d single!.......2003-12-31
I recently recieved this c.d single as a gift for Christmas, Charmbracelet is a wonderful c.d and I think the remix with cameron should have been put on the album, but it's worth it if you want to go out and buy the single. If you have Charmbracelet then you will definetely love this single!

Album Description
Turning Point' is teenage R&B sensation Mario's second album, and the follow up to his 2002 eponymously-titled release. Featuring slick production and smooth vocal stylings, the album sticks very rigidly to the contemporary R&B formula that has proved so successful for his peers. Includes the single 'Let Me Love You'.
