    this is a lovely and easy to listen to popular form of orchestral music. I find it charming and buy albums of modern string miniatures whenever I can. The first piece by Purcell is a five part treat of dances. The rest is sometimes deep emotions, mostly light but serious and pleasant. An eminently English genre for modernists who like there to be tunes and emotive expression in some kind of string narrative.Working at home as I do, these are the light break I need.

      As one of the musicians in The National Swing Band of Texas and on this CD, I would like to encourage everyone interested in Big Band, Western Swing, or Country Music to give this album a try. The strength of Curtis Potter's voice combined with the musical talents of The National Swing Band of Texas gives a combination that is great to listen to. Also, if you are a fan of the Buddy Emmons and the Swing Shift Band albums, this CD will definitely interest you. Now, for a listing of the musicians:

      This is a very good CD! Willie and Curtis together are dynamite!! Their voices blend in quite well. I met Curtis in Roswell,NM. in the summer of 2004 and have been a fan ever since. I play his music quite often and it sounds better every time. He sounds a lot like Ray Price and has a voice you can't help but appreciate. I was told recently he had retired from music. I sincerly hope this is not fact as he is very talented.

In this "Best Of Volume 1" you will find nine (9) of the classic songs that Curtis recorded either on 45's or on LP's for Dot, Capitol, RCA, Hillside and Step One Records. Three (3) new songs were recorded to round out the song list. All twelve (12) of these new digital recordings were completed during May 2001, with an emphasis on capturing the feel and styling of the original recordings. Consideration was also given to bringing each song to the current 2001 standard for commercial success.
