"Crooked Pictures" is full of haunting images and lovely melodies. Sheehy's dark baritone is perfectly suited to his diverse folk and alt.country material.

3 out of 5 stars Sheehy's 1st album takes at least 2-3 listens to grow..........2006-09-06

Mark Sheehy's 2nd album, "Rock, Paper, Jesus" (4 1/2 stars) melts into your ears, like your first tongue-kiss from the girl-next-door melted into your tastebuds, and olfactory-memory, to stay forevermore.
This album, four years the predecessor, entitled ''Crooked Pictures'', at first hits you as raw, as a 'crooked picture' would...less 'produced', as the nowadays-mainstream. But by the 2nd, and 3rd time through, it begins to grow on you; and in the 3rd track, titled "I Know", even though the character in the song, knows little, in reality, Mark reminds the listener that he, the artist, does indeed know what he is doing.
Though, doubtful, this album will be an old friend, it-at bare minimum- will be a long-lasting amicable aquaintance. Seems to me, Mr. Sheehy is continuing to 'learn' from each effort. This should cause the owners of both of his albums, to lick-their-lips in eager anticipation of the next release... and that returning tongue-kiss from the long-gone, returning girl-next-door...whichever happens first! ;~) :~D ;~J

5 out of 5 stars Gets better each time I listen to "Crooked Pictures".......2000-07-29

This is wonderful piece of work from an individual that evidently is very creative and has a sense of humor. His voice is memorizing and the music has been composed wonderfully.

I am buying another copy for my brother. I think that this is music that can be enjoyed by all.

5 out of 5 stars Fresh songwriting, Fine singing.......2000-05-12

This CD was a gift from a friend and it really was a pleasant surprise. I'd never heard of this guy before, but I really like the songs. There are some nice lyrical twists, and Mark has a nice way of setting a mood with a few, well chosen details, whether it's the guy watching a relationship end in "Took Away the Air" or the weird sillly/seriousness of a drunk falling on his dog in "Grace." And his voice seems to be soothing and edgy at the same time. I like it. I especially like the way it works with the guitar and french horn on "I Know", a song about a guy who doesn't know at all.
