One of the Best Soundtracks I Have Heard.......2005-09-24
A lot of great songs here, heartfelt melodies and lyrics from the heart of America. Music goes well with the a very good movie. Excellent acting from Sarandon and the teenage Portman.
Soundtrack worth to listen to.......2005-08-06
After I had seen the movie, I considered buying the soundtrack. I saw the track list, and the only song I knew was "Anywhere but here" by K.D. Lang. I thought, why not, maybe the other tracks are as good as well. I took my chance to purchase it. Looking back, I'm glad I did.
The music is well chosen. There are up-tempo songs such as "Walking" performed by Pocket Size and "Twisted Road" by Patty Griffin, and there are slow songs such as "Everything Around Me Is Changing" by Sinead Lohan and "Amity" performed by Carly Simon and Sally Taylor. Furthermore, the "Anywhere But Here Score Suite" written by Danny Elfman is a pleasure for the ear, it makes you calm down and forget everything around you for a while. The soundtrack is a mix of happy, cheerful, fresh songs and sad, sober, serious songs. Hence, there is a song for all kinds of moods.
In short, although there are a few tracks that need to be listened to more often to be loved as much as the others, this soundtrack is worth to be listened to.
"Anywhere But Here" Soundtrack.......2004-08-08
I brought this CD Soundtrack today and the songs are absolutely wonderfull as the movie was aswell with 2 wonderfull great actresses Natalie Portman & Susan Sarandon, my favourite 2 songs were I wish bt Lisa Loeb and The Anywhere But Here Score Suite by Danny Elfman. The CD comes with plenty of pictures and information on the Inlay Cards. You should purchase this CD today so what are you waiting for? GO FOR IT.
Excellent Movie with an Excellent Soundtrack.

I would like to know the same thing as "M" wanted to know, the same romantic fluty song that plays when she invites Peter over and he has to strip....and then they end up holding one another! HELP!

Album Description
Chris Cagle's third album, Anywhere But Here, is a collection that crystallizes the promise of the first two and takes him another big step forward. Its first single, "Miss Me Baby," is four minutes of raw drama sung with a nuanced intensity that announces Chris's growing maturity as a vocalist. It also represents the eighth time he has hit the Top 40 with a song he has written or co-written. The album captures a renewed Chris, back from vocal rest and a period of intense introspection, reflecting on the complex emotions to be found in living a modern life in the spotlight.

GREAT MUSIC--BAD CD.......2007-01-18
OK, let's get down to it. I loved this album. I liked every song and I normally would have given it a four or five stars.
The tragedy is the copy protection. The CD has it's own software built in to copy the music onto your hard drive or make a CD copy. Even following the software's instructions (that pop up when you put the CD in your computer), the software successfully copied the songs onto my hard drive--but flaked out completely on the last step when it went out to secure the "license". This left the music completely unlistenable.
I use copying for three purposes other than playing the CD itself. 1.) Make my own complication CD's for long drives. 2.) Play on my IPOD. and 3.) Have my computer shuffle play my large collection of favorite songs through the speakers for hours of enjoyment. Music industry folk can say that it is not their responsibility to see to it that I can do these things. I disagree and object to the whittling away of "fair use". Not being able to do these things reduces a CD's value at least by half.
True, issues about the copy protection say nothing about the music itself--but it says volumes about the PURCHASE. A car can have the most advanced engine under the hood but if the rest of the design is lousy it spoils the package.
The artist needs to know that if his record company does anything to make his fans unhappy they are unhappy with him as well. He needs to raise holy hell with the bosses and if they will not change then he needs to go somewhere else. Sure, easier said than done. But, if a significant part of the buying public will no longer buy his CD's, untimately it's his problem not ours.
Write protection is a nightmare.......2007-01-15
This was my first experience with this type of protection. Horrible! I personally will never buy another CD with this type of protection and I will be leary of this artist's CDS because of this awful experience. Sorry, but if the artist supports this type of protection, then they need to live with the repercussions.
Don't even bother.......2006-03-23
This CD is ok regarding country music but the "Copy protection" issue drove me crazy. That without mentioning neither my CD player or my computer at home (Linux system) play this CD. In this case, Chris Cagle and all singers out there should pay more attention to what "the music industry" tried to do. I can tell you I will NOT buy any more CDs if this means having that "protection" installed.... by the way, who is getting protected with this? Certainly not me!
Decent CD but not worth the trouble.......2006-03-06
All in all, I enjoyed the CD as far as the vocals and songs but the content protection is terrible. I could not get it to save onto my computer and play. When I tried it ended up crashing the whole system, and when you play it back it sounds grabled and scratchy. They say this helps protect the software but I was just downloading it to my computer for the first time and it still did not work. Be wary of these content protection unless you just want to listen to the CD in your car or stero, otherwise they are useless. I am extremely disappointed by not being able to copy the CD to my computer.
Some of his best vocals.......2006-02-21
This album is great! The ballads are worth the price alone. The song "You Might want to think about it" and "Hey Ya'll" are just plain fun. Cagle does a supurb job with Bon Jovi's "Wanted". I love Bon Jovi too but I like Cagles version better. Bon Jovi himself has praised Cagle for it.
It's a fun album to listen to and Cagles vocals are at their best yet. He has learned how to use his vocals even better (if thats possible) during his forced rest.
Great Album!!

Pound for pound a great album.......2007-02-24
Considering it was recorded on a shoestring (literally) represents the callow musings of a 20 year old midwestern kid, it really isn't half bad.
WHAT?!?!?!?!?.......2005-12-11
The average review is 4 stars?!?!?!?! What is this? What is this world coming to. Simple, the world is infested with wannabe punks that are too chicken to listen to the Misfits, Ramones, or Dead Kennedies. You guys are way too guillible. Just cuz they call themselves punk doesn't mean that they are. Anyways, most punk sucks besides what is listed above. Go listen to some Behemoth, In Flames, Black Sabbath, Megadeth, Exodus, or Slayer.
Oh, this album...it sucks too bad to mention. about a -999999/10 not too bad compared to some Simple Plan but it does suck.
Early Ataris = Good .......2004-09-14
Before The Ataris gave in and rode the wave of sound-alike emo bands into mainstream acceptance, they were a decent, if unremarkable pop-punk band in the vein of Green Day and the Descendents. Accordingly, Anywhere But Here is a decent, if unremarkable pop-punk album in the vein of Green Day and the Descendents. The Ataris speed through 21 songs that sound suspiciously alike in under 40 minutes, rarely dropping the tempo. It's a far cry from So Long, Astoria. Like most punk albums of its length, the songs eventually begin to blend together, but a few still leave an impression. "Anderson" is a hilarious middle finger to a boring hometown, and "Hey Kid" blends Descendents style pop-punk with a mellow ska riff. Remarkably, the Ataris play some very emotional pop-punk, but on this album they never really cross the line into whiney emo, at least not until the hidden track, but that's a cover of a Weezer song, and it's pretty good anyway. If you're a fan of pop-punk, chances are you'll like this.
Whatever.......2004-05-19
Sorry, but if you want to listen to Green Day, go buy a Green Day CD. These guys are flagrant rip-offs. Don't waste your money.
Ataris at their best.......2003-07-08
This is The Ataris earliest CD, and I think it is probably their best. Every song is fast and catchy with high energy, although all the songs sound almost the same, It's still great. Actually this would be a good CD to play at a party or something. You should definately buy this, it is well worth the money and it will never get boring.

punk at its finest.......2004-04-21
this cd is amazing. you might think it sounds like greenday, but its better. yes, its better than greenday. ataris are an incredible band and their other cds are also great. this is just so punk and the lyrics and the music are just awesome. i listen to this over and over again. i own alot of punk, pop punk, emo, ska cds and this is in my top 5 ever. its just simply amazing. i bought this like a year ago also, and i still listen to it often. this is true punk.
really liked it.......2002-04-01
This is the best album they have made. It is so much punkier than the others. The only problem is that the tracks are to short. But the tracks flow into each other so it really doesn't matter. The other albums they made are to slow, but this one has a lot of fast songs. When I first heard it I thought they were blink 182, but after awhile they came to have their own sound. Very good lyrics and tunes. Go buy it and support The Ataris.
Green day over and over.......2002-01-29
When are bands going to stop trying to sound like greenday. Come on Ataris. Please stop sounding like greenday.

Good, if only some of the tracks were longer.......2001-10-17
After being so impressed by all the other Ataris albums I decided to buy "Anywhere but here". Just like any other release by these boys you can expect a great album from start to finish. With a much more punk feel than "Blue skies..." or "End is forever" this album is almost completly flawless. My only real gripe with "Anywhere but here" is most of the tracks clock in at around one minute in length, with only three tracks going above the two minute mark. Of course track length has never really bothered me that much, and any Ataris fan new or old can appreciate this one.
yep.......2001-07-18
ok i have all four atari cd's and i got this one last. it is so rad. you can definately always count on them to make a rad albumn.

Great Performer!.......2005-06-30
I saw Tory at the Reservoir Lounge in Toronto while taking a much needed break from a conference. He and his band were incredibly talented. I ended up leaving the show with a few CDs and fond memories of the Reservoir Lounge (where they serve great mojitos). I hope he and his band cross the border and play a show in my neck of the woods.
I don't know much, but I know what I like........2004-04-02
I am definitely not the most sophisticated music connoisseur you will ever come across. What I do know is that I was flipping through the channels one day and stopped just in time to here Tory Cassis belt out "Such a Crime" on a local Canadian morning talk show. I was absolutely transfixed by the vivid lyrics, the rich and intense layers of music, and the depth of Tory's voice.
At the end of his set, when he was being interviewed by the talk show host, he seemed slightly embarrassed saying that the song would sound much better on the CD with all the instruments present (he only had a guitar and a small back up band). I searched all over Edmonton looking for the CD and finally found it in a tiny music store an hour away from my home. The song sounded fantastic on the TV and perfectly unbelievable on the CD.
Tory Cassis' "Anywherebuthere" was bought originally for just one song but I quickly fell in love with the entire CD.
CD Noir.......2002-12-16
Tory Cassis' "Anywhere But Here" is possibly the finest album I've picked up in years. The musicianship, the songwriting, the TEXTURE of the album stand head-and-shoulders above the mainstream. Think of the music as introspective-thoughtful-dark-humorous lyrics mixed in with crime-jazz music.
I was lucky enough to see Tory twice - once in Greenwich Village as a solo opener for Moxy Früvous (when he presented "The Ugliest, Tackiest Christmas Present Ever"), and at C'est What in Toronto with a full band. Both times his skill and personality were awe-inspiring, not to mention one of the tightest bands in the universe (who also appear on the album).
Buy the album - buy several copies and give them to your friends - go see the show - you won't be disappointed.
fantastic!!!.......2001-10-11
One word sums up this cd.... fantastic!! Kinda jazzy, kinda bluesy, it's sexy, funky and smooth all at the same time. The track that made me take notice is "Such a Crime". Passionate and strong, his voice is somewhat reminiscent of a young Frank Sinatra, but more modern and alot sexier. On the strength of this song alone, and with high expectations, I purchased this cd. I was not disappointed! Every single track is incredible! If I had to pick a second favorite track, it'd be "Baby's Coming Home". I've never heard a song that inspires candlelight and a glass of wine as much as this one. Get this CD, you won't be disappointed!
Mmm, mmm, good........2000-08-31
In a word, sexy. In a few more, smooth as satin, mellow, and sure to find at permanent place near your CD player. I had the pleasure of seeing him live in early '99, and I couldn't wait for his album to come out. It was certainly worth the wait, and then some.
