Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars A generous collection of hand-clapping, toe-tapping music.......2000-03-16

This is, for me, the best collection of Bob Wills music, because it is very generously filled (with 28 tracks, versus 32 on the two-CD "Anthology" collection) and contains all of his best songs. For anyone not familiar with Bob and the Texas Playboys, the music is a little hard to describe: I would say about 40 percent western, 40 percent swing, and 20 percent country. Anyway, it's absolutely irresistable music. This disc is especially good because it contains "Dusty Skies" (as does the "Historic Edition" disc), which is quite simply one of the most hauntingly beautiful western songs ever written. In fact, I bought this disc specifically for that piece. A good second choice would be "The Essential Bob Wills", which is great but lacks "Dusty Skies." EEEE-HAAAA!
