Bobby Darin was one of the most personally complex and unpredictable artists of the rock era. Indeed, it's hard to find another major artist who reinvented himself with the deceptive ease and overwhelming success chronicled on this 20-track highlight disc. After scoring three lively and considerable Top 10 successes in the space of a year in the late 1950s ("Splish Splash," "Queen of the Hop," "Dream Lover"), Darin traded in his teen idol sweater 'n' slacks for a tux and tie (evidence suggests he considered rock a passing fad!) and went gunning for Sinatra and the Rat Pack. The immediate results were the Grammy-winning No. 1 legend "Mack the Knife" (adapted from Kurt Weill's "Moritat" in The Threepenny Opera) and the enduring, French-inspired Top 10 hit "Beyond the Sea." If Darin spent the early '60s alternately goosing standards from the American songbook ("Clementine," "Bill Bailey," "Lazy River," "You Must Have Been a Beautiful Baby," etc.) and mending a few rock-pop fences ("Multiplication," "Things"), he still had another surprise in store. His Top 10 take on Tim Hardin's dolorous "If I Were a Carpenter" cast him all too convincingly as conscientious '60s folkie. Other highlights here include his irresistible, swinging take on the lyrically bleak "Artificial Flowers" and his successful, self-penned nods to the '60s Nashville sound, "You're the Reason I'm Living" and "18 Yellow Roses." Darin was considerably more than the first postmodern lounge Revivalist, and herein lies the evidence. --Jerry McCulley

A Must.......2007-05-13
Alongside Sinatra, Ella, Ray Charles, Nat King Cole, and others, Bobby Darin is an absolute must in everyone's discotheque.
ought to Buy it !.......2007-04-11
Good selection of his classic songs.Any age group can appreciate Bobby Darin's contribution of music
He was the best of the best!.......2007-04-11
Every song on this CD will remind those of us who lived and loved the music of the 60's why it was so great and will forever remain so. Darin's voice and the artistry of his performance on each song is wonderfully smooth and easy to listen to. It is truly mood food ... whatever your mood might be.
Great!.......2007-03-26
This is a compilation of Bobby Darin's hits and includes everything from "Beyond the Sea" to "Mack The Knife". A definite for any Darin fan.
Too Many Mono Recordings.......2006-12-31
I don't understand the 5 star reviews. Of the 20 tracks on this CD (a good collection), only 5 were the stereo recordings; the remaining 15 were recorded in mono only!!! Bobby Darin's signature tracks of Splish Splash, Mack the Knife, and Beyond the Sea are all in mono format. Horrible, especially considering that the word "Stereo" is plastered across the cover of his "That's All" album where Mack the Knife and Beyond the Sea were recorded.
I suppose if you have one speaker, it would not make a difference, but PLEASE. I feel so very cheated.

Holiday blues comin' on? Well, put a spike in `em! Here's the zaniest, wildest and just plain sickest Collectors' Choice Music exclusive yet79 tracks from Spike Jones and his City Slickers! These represent Spike's complete Standard Transcription sides, but these tunes are anything but standard; Mr. Jones brought his full bag of tricks for these non-commercial recordings (made in Hollywood during the early `40s). Add to that the fact that most of these have never been on CD or even LP, and any lover of Spike's mayhem-filled mixture of laughs and hot licks is going to flip over this set! Notes and great pictures accompany this 3-CD walk on the wacky side from the greatest novelty band of all time.

Great set of wartime rarities.......2003-05-14
Spike Jones was the king of the novelty song performers, with hits like "Der Fuehrer's Face" and the parody version of "Sheik of Araby" becoming huge hits during World War II. This is a swell 3-CD set, gathering a full eighty-one of Jones' best tracks from his 1940s heyday, drawn from an extensive archive of radio broadcasts made for the Standard Transcription service. The tightness of his City Slickers band is amply demonstrated in these manic, kookily orchestrated performances. Toots, squonks, blatts and bleats whiz by at lightning speed, as one daffy song after another will delight devoted fans. Amazingly, Jones had the unusual, almost unique ability to perform a repertoire almost entirely made up of comedic material, and yet still be quite listenable and engaging. His jazz chops were hardly in question, and from time to time Jones would dash off a non-novelty ballad or two, just to give the rubes something to think about. Of course, just as often he would perform a song that *sounded* like a straight ballad, but would turn out to be another goof. (One great example of this is the sultry "Serenade To A Jerk," sung in slinky, burlesque tones by Myrtle Horwin.) This collection may seem a little overwhelming, but like his studio recordings, these radio performances have a certain brilliance and joie de vivre about them that will leave you enchanted. Definitely worth checking out!

Standard Transcription Collection.......2003-04-12
This collection has remastered material from the large stack of Standard Transcription discs from the early 1940's. There are many songs not recorded on RCA, many on the theme of wartime ("48 Reasons Why"), and the quality is excellent. The packaging is threadbare but this is an essential CD package for true music lovers.

OH Mama Mama you've got me, living on the front line..........2007-05-15
I've seen the Eddy Grant collections that are available and THIS is the one you want, plain and simple. Like many people I first knew of Eddy from his success with The Equals ("Baby Come Back"). And because I own a TV, I'm very familiar with the MTV hits "Electric Avenue" and "Boys In The Street." But "Living On The Front Line"...Eddy's Bob Marley trance reggae moment of sheer and utter brilliance...is the song that resonates over and over and over for me. I'm not even going to attempt to express how good this song is in words. This song was Eddy's defining moment.
A standing Ovation for job well done!.......2005-01-14
Eddy Grant lives in the beautiful island of Barbados...one day i will meet him and shake his hands for an amazing talent and job superbly done.Every track is pure magic and guess what he sings and plays every instrument..its time to support the real artist of the world use your computer and purchase this cd or forever hold thy mouse.
YOU WILL LOVE IT!!!!.......2001-06-01
If you like Eddy Grant.....you will love this CD! He is an extremely talented artist....
Take a listen then buy it!!! It's a must have!
EDDY GRANT's a real genius!.......2001-05-10
This guy's amazing. I've got all of his albums. Even my children love his music; the songs are incredibly contagious, and he writes the most powerful lyrics! He's touched on countless controversial topics ("Youth Tom Tom, War Party, Living On The Frontline etc."), unlike most of today's artistes who illustrate the morally destructive 'sex sells' campaign. Eventually, one tires of this...but EDDY GRANT's material is both refreshing and revolutionary. Music to change the world.
GRANT's albums each has something unique; something that everyone of us can identify with. Most of today's artistes are expendible; they make disposable music, and all sing about the same thing. EDDY GRANT's albums to me are a rare reminder that there are artistes who have something powerful to say.
A MUST HAVE! If you have 5 classic albums in your home LET "EDDY GRANT- GREATEST HITS COLLECTION" BE ONE!
Solid Snapshot of Grant's Career........2001-01-14
Being that I have all eleven of Grant's solo cds I can attest to the quality of this compilation. I do not usually support compilations as they tend to be money making schemes by the record companies. However, considering the fact that most of Grant's catalog is nearly impossible to find since it's out of print (particularly in the United States), I'm actually recommending this compilation. It has his hits and good album tracks all digitally remastered. For those who never checked into Grant's music, you will be rewarded here. Those of us who have been long time Grant fans will not really need this compilation except to have the songs digitally remastered (and they needed it!)

Naruto!.......2006-03-15
This CD contains great beginning and ending songs from the Naruto anime series:
R*O*C*K*S by Hound Dog; a fun rock song, with a few English words. Very fun to sing.
Wind (Akeboshi); this is probably my favorite song on the soundtrack. It is a very beautiful song, sung in English, actually, though you might have to get the lyrics to understand what he's saying.
Far-Off Distance (Haruka Kanata) by Asian Kung-Fu Generation; though it only just repeats a long verse (with a short verse at the end), it is a fun song.
Harmonia (Harumonia) by Rythem; this song can get annoying, but it's cute.
Turning Sadness Into Kindness (Kanashima wo Yasashisa ni), by 'little by little'; this is a fast song, pretty and cute.
Viva*Rock, by Orange Range; this is an extremely fun song. If you've watched the ending credits with this song, you'll know what I mean (with the little chibi characters marching across the screen and the song is counting in English). It kind of has a rap side to it, but not a whole lot, and it's just lots of fun.
Alive, by Raiko; it starts out pretty, then goes into a rap song, then back to the pretty... wasn't sure I liked this song at first, but it grew on me.
Go!!! by Flow; this is also an extremely fun song. It has a few words in English, which I think allows easier memorizing of the Japanese lyrics.
Lastly there is Many Times Until Now (Ima Made Nandomo), by The Massmissile; I don't like this song as much, but it's still fun.
As you can see, for the most part they are rock songs, and lots of fun. Maybe not worth the $40+ Amazon wants, but buying it used you can usually get it for under $20.
If you like this soundtrack (or even if you don't), I recommend: Best of InuYasha, Fullmetal Alchemist - Complete Best, and Rurouni Kenshin: The Best Theme Collection.
Great Songs for a King's Ransom.......2005-03-21
All of my favorite Naruto songs. I love them to death. Music from this show has the perfect mix of rock and pop genres for my tastes.
It is, thus, a tragedy that the CD is nearly fifty bucks. That's almost five bucks a song - there are hit singles out there with better deals than that.
It's still pricey in Japan, but not as much; if you know anybody going there in the near future, have them pick this CD up for you there. It's well worth owning, but not worth the import expenses.
For those who love Openings/Endings.......2004-12-26
The "Best Themes" Naruto Soundtrack almost all of the Opening/Ending songs from the hit anime that is currently being shown in Japan and Fansubbed in the US by quite a few groups. The manga is also liscensed and distributed by Viz.
Unless I am mistaken, it is missing everything after the fourth opening (GO!!!) and the fifth closing (Ima Made Nandomo).
Although I adore all of the music of Naruto, I would not purchase it for fifty dollars. It is also a shame that Amazon did not even include a track list for those who care what songs are on it.
A complete track listing is as follows:
01. R O C K S [OP 1]/ HOUND DOG
02. Wind [ED 1] / Akeboshi
03. Haruka Kanata [OP 2] / Asian Kung-Fu Generation
04. Harmonia [ED 2] / RYTHEM

07. ALIVE [ED 4] / Raiko
08. GO!!! [OP 4]/ FLOW
09. Ima Made Nandomo [ED 5] / The Massmissile

Falco at the disco console.......2007-01-10
Well, this is a wonderful disco remix of Falco hits. Love it!!
Mostly good remix collection.......2006-05-12
I'm a big Falco fan from the early 80s, from the minute I saw videos for Der Komissar and Zuviel Hitze on MTV. This remix CD will disappoint if you are looking for the "Salieri" version of Rock Me Amadeus or the extended American remix of Vienna Calling. They are all new 1990s "club versions" and, while not as good, are mostly still enjoyable in their own right... Well, tracks 1-7 are all good but the rest are awful, IMO. Get this album if you are a die-hard Falco fan and not just a fan of his American hits because most of the songs are in German language only.
The word Remix is in the title!.......2004-10-04
How smart do you have to be to buy a CD called REMIX Hit Collection then complain about it having remixes? LOL
Reviewing This 13 Years Later.......2004-10-01
By all means, this CD is a piece of trash for the most part! I bought it when I found it in the store back in 1991 when it was originaly released new. Not alot of people really know this was out way before he died (see other reviews). First off when I bought this I was expecting the original 12" versions of all the tracks. Then I get it home and pop it in the CD player and I was in shock! Turns out it was all new updated remixed crap versions of most of his tracks with the exception of 3 tracks. "Emotional", "Data De Groove" and "Sound Of Musik" are the original 12" versions and Jeanny Pt.2 is just the regular LP version. Only reason this thing even got a 2 star rating from me was for putting the 10 min version of "Sound Of Musik" which I had on vinyl on CD which is basicly just the full length version which didnt make it to the original LP. Was a sad shame that this is all that remained in print on CD in the US from Falco other than the poor Greatest Hits compilation from a few years back after he died. By all means if you want a good Falco collection on 1 CD get the import version of Greatest Hits. Or if your a fan, hunt down the entire discography on import or hunt for used USA CD's of "Emotional" and "Falco 3". Or if your like me and bought all his LP's on vinyl in the US when they first came out and they still in mint condition..keep your LPs..cause this CD is a joke! Wonder what Falco actualy thought of this when it was released?
Who are all these reviewers? Falco fans? (REAL Fans?).......2004-04-06
I AM a Falco fan! Have been since 1985! I did NOT buy this because it is readily available here in the states. I did NOT buy this because I wanted Rock Me Amadeus on cd. (I already own all his music on cd.) I DID buy this to hear REMIXES of some of his best stuff! I DID buy this to hear Rock Me Amadeus sound completely different from the original I so loved! (And still do!) I can't believe all the fuss over this! NOTE: If you prefer the originals (and yes I do too) then BUY them! (as I did.) If you wish to hear Falco remixed and updated then buy this! And Jeanny is in fact excellent here- very epic! 5 stars for a change of pace! Falco Forever-R.I.P
