All the Evie Fans should have.......2007-06-20

I was thrilled to be able to find these Evie songs in a CD. Out of high school, I first saw a video of Evie singing "Born Again" on the Ross Bagley show. I then began buying old albums and new, as soon as they came out. I even got to see Evie in concert on a front row seat. It was a slice of Heaven! She had the warmest, most personal touch I'd ever seen with an audience. This CD collection holds great memories for me. They have packed it with classics: Live for Jesus, Born Again, Unfailing Love, and many more. I just wish there would be a Volume II. I'd volunteer to select the songs. If you loved Christian Comtemporary music, especially from the late 70s and early 80s, buy this collection. I guarantee you'll love it and get a blessing!

Evie sings Mirror Mirror.......2006-12-04

Remember Evie singing Mirror Mirror, and Give them all to Jesus, Praise the Lord He never changes? Well here is your chance to have her in your home again. This CD is a hard to find item, but I remember hearing Evie LIVE when she first came out and was performing way back when. She has a wonderful voice and just to hear her sing, I think would make even the Angels wonder how she got away from the choir. Her vocal range is awesome! Anyone that can remember EVIE will remember how easy it was to sing along with her, she just has the voice to capture even the youngest hearts. Sit back, close your eyes and let Evie's voice bring back all the fond memories of music that is a joy to listen to and sing yourself. Children that are young will enjoy some fine music such as Evie. She touched our hearts and now it is time for us to share her again with our little ones.

Recollections.......2006-01-30

Evie was/is one of the greats in Christian music. Whenever I go to a music store, I search for a chance happenstance on one of her CD's. And, now, thanks to Amazon, I have the best one!!! Thanks to whoever put this CD together, we have a CD that actually has all of Evie's greatest hits in one place! Each song is better that the last until it starts all over again. For those of you who love Evie, this CD is a MUST; for those of you who've never heard of Evie, oh, you've got to listen to her! She's great!

Songs that touch the heart of the maker.......1999-05-04

I have been a fan of Pearl and her husband Larry since I first heard them perform almost 10 years ago. Going Home is a perfect blend of pop, folk, blues, and Americana that should resonate with anyone who has taken the long journey of spiritual discovery chronicled on this recording. I can't even remember how many copies of this project I have given away to friends and family. Pearl's unaffected alto is the most amazing instrument on this project; even when standing next to performances by collaboraters and jazz greats Abraham Laboriel and Richard Souther. That voice speaks beyong the lyrics of a life spent running from God only to find Him waiting with open arms at the end of that long road. Joy, pain, faith, doubt, and longing are all expressed honestly and without religious pretense. Stand out tracks include "Take Your Shoes Off","Heart of Gold", and the hauntingly beautiful closer, "I Will Wait". Great production, stellar musicians, and terrific songs combine to make this an all time favorite that is seldom far from my CD changer.

Excellent way to go into "retirement".......2001-08-25

For nearly thirty years, Tennessee Ernie Ford recorded for Capitol Records. In 1976 shortly after recording a hit album with Glen Campbell, he retired. In the next year, he recorded five albums for Word Albums. This collection is made up of mostly albums 2 + 5. The 1977 album Swing Wide Your Golden Gates was his third album he recorded with the Jordanaires. Nine out of the ten songs on the album are on this collection. It's the same story with 1983 album (his last) Sunday School Songs for Children. Included are the songs He Touched Me and a moving Leaving on My Mind (wrote by his friend Sammy Goodman of the Happy Goodman Family). These songs as well as the hip "Operator" and "One Day at a Time" make this a collection a classic.

A highly interesting mix.......2001-08-25

Make no mistake, this is not the traditional hymn album put out by Ford. There are songs here that can't really be classified as hymns; songs that are only spiritual in the mildest sense of the word. For example, "I Believe" has never been sung in a church service that I have ever attended. The same thing, to an even larger extent, goes for "I'd like to teach the world to sing." This is by no means the hymn CD that I would pick from the Ford collection. Nevertheless, there are a few hymn standards here, such as "Jesus paid it all," "Room At the Cross," and " When We All Get to Heaven." Still, I admire the bravery of one who would buy this CD at first glance.
