She wasn't a beauty queen, but country-music star Patsy Cline's voice was a thing of wonder: full-bodied, aching and dreamy at the same time. She came by the torchy emotions in her songs honestly, as shown in this biopic directed by Karel Reisz, rising from poor surroundings, literally forcing her talent on the Nashville establishment, all the while trying to survive an abusive marriage to a drinker. Though the script by Robert Getchell is standard Hollywood biography, the movie is more than watchable, thanks to a bone-deep performance by the always astonishing Jessica Lange and the counterpoint by Ed Harris as her loving but unreliable husband. The soundtrack features a basketful of Cline's hits, which Lange convincingly lip-synchs. --Marshall Fine

AWESOME SOUNDTRACK.......2007-06-28

PATSY CLINE AT HER "UPDATED" BEST. I HEARTILY ADVISE GETTING THIS TIMELESS CD OF HER GREATEST HITS. BELIEVE ME, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.

Purists may hate me, but..........2007-01-30

these songs sound terrific remixed! Who better to do the remixing then Owen Bradley, who produced the original tracks. There are those who bemoan that the songs have been remixed, but the original versions are available in pristine form elsewhere. These are slight variations on the originals, and the result is a freshening up of the terrific performances. If you love Patsy Cline's music, you'll love this disc!

though this is an old record, but it is still worth listening, esp the title " Crazy" now seems become popular again.

Why change the background?.......2004-10-01

The soundtrack is great, because of Patsy's voice. I don't understand why they had to change the background for the movie- All they had to do was use the original 4-Star material that Patsy recorded. Maybe they weren't able to do so, due to copywrights and such. Whatever the case, even if I like the original backgrounds better, they are an interesting change. My favorite track is "San Antiono Rose." It's always been one of my favorite Patsy songs and it sounds great with an alternate background. I recommend this album to add to your Patsy collection if you are a fan!!

Great memories but nothing Remastered here........2006-04-15

To call this CD remastered is a bit misleading. I would have gotten the same results by sticking a cheap microphone near the speaker of an equally cheap television set.

The songs and sounds of the Marx Brothers brought back great memories but the skips in the CD and the overall quality of sound was a bit disheartening. If you love the Marx Brothers then buy this CD for the memories, as for the quality, I would definately think twice.

If comedy were still like this . . ........2005-08-20

. . . it'd be much better than it is - well, if you've seen "Monkey Business" you know what I'm talking about!

This CD contains music from two of the Marx Brothers' early Paramount films, "The Cocoanuts" (their first) and "Monkey Business." Since these films were made in the late 1920s and early 1930s, the sound quality isn't the best (and the dialog occasionally carries over in the music), but considering that a CD like this is hard to find, it's certainly worth adding to your Marx Brothers collection. Not only do you get Chico's chord-smashing, finger-accented piano playing, or Harpo's dreamy, beloved harp playing, you get some of the Brothers' comedy bits from these two movies - such as their hilarious Chevalier "impersations" and the immortal "Why-a-duck?" exchange.

Just a tiny bone to pick: Harpo's solo in "Monkey Business" is actually called "I'm Daffy Over You" (written by Chico!), not "Sugar in the Morning" as the CD case says.

Welcome to the Land of Dreams!.......2007-01-30

This is the soundtrack for "Strawberry Shortcake: The Sweet Dreams Movie," the recent CGI movie in which Strawberry Shortcake and her friends travel on a magical adventure to the Land of Dreams.

"The Sweet Dreams Movie" soundtrack is a short, but berry sweet twenty minutes of fun. There are two tracks that have already been heard before on other albums --- "You're My Berry Best Friend" and the instrumental version of the show's main title theme. Both are good, so I don't mind their inclusion on this CD.

The original music is all wonderful. My favorite track on the album is the very first one --- "How a Garden Grows." It introduces listeners into the world of the show and then provides a cheerful, fast-paced and fun theme about how to grow a garden. "To share is more than just to share / It turns what's bare into a paradise." This tune is followed by "Sweet Dreams," a gentle and comforting tune performed by Strawberry. Next is "All it Takes," a wonderful riff on the tune "Do Your Ears Hang Low?" "The Land of Dreams" features the new character P.J. welcoming the kids to her land and then they consider whether or not dreams are worthwhile in "Sweet Dreams."

Some fans of the series have been turned off by the reintroduction of the villain Purple Pieman into the series, but he puts in a decent performance in "A Little Dream of Yours," in which he schemes to take everyone's dreams and make them "his, not yours." Next is a reprise of "Silly Dreamer/Sweet Dreams" and finally the pleasant "Tell Me a Story."

Fans of the new version of "Strawberry Shortcake" will find more fun and entertainment in this CD. Though it's short, it's worth many listens.
