Only one title on the second volume of the three-volume Good Vibrations best-of series cracked the U.S. top 10, 1964's "When I Grow Up to Be a Man." (Five of the selections here made the U.K. charts--"Do It Again," "I Can Hear Music," "Break Away," "Darlin'," and "Cottonfields.") In contrast to its loaded-with-hits predecessor, Greatest Hits Volume 1: 20 Good Vibrations, Volume 2 serves up songs that stand as second-tier Beach Boys--but only in commercial terms. The likes of "In My Room," "Don't Worry, Baby," "Caroline, No," and "Heroes and Villains" stand well above Volume One's "409," "Little Deuce Coupe," and "Sloop John B" in their contribution to the group's incredible legacy. Those hungry for hits will want to stick with the earlier volume, but burgeoning Beach Boys boosters will find this 20-song set every bit the match--and arguably the subjugator--of its all-hits forerunner. --Steven Stolder

Makes You Feel as if It Can Be Summer All Year Long.......2007-04-02
This album brings together all the all time favorites from the infamous Beach Boys. In My Room, Don't Worry, Baby, and Friends are all included in this CD that is guaranteed to get your blood pumping. Its hard to resist getting up and dancing to these wonderful tracks. If you like the Beach boys, you are sure to love this album. Its got all the right tunes and grooves. It makes you feel as it can be summer all year long. I highly recommend this album to any person of any age, its safe for kids, another perk of these amazing tracks.
Great Collection...But You Have To Buy The Other 2 Volumes!.......2004-05-19
As the album title indicates, this collection picks up where Volume 1 ends. Although some of the songs barely cracked the Top 40, I feel these songs are just as important and do more than just "supplement" Volume 1. Like Volume 1, these songs are short radio versions.
The liner notes are enjoyable along with the colorful pictures, song credits and chart positions. As stated in my title, you can't just buy this without getting the other two volumes. Plus, this three volume set may save you from buying their more expensive box set which contains over 100 songs. With this three volume, three CD set, you get 60 songs you will want. Highly recommended.
+ 1/2 stars...The Rest of the Capitol Hits (and Near Misses).......2004-03-14
In many ways the Beach Boys GREATEST HITS VOL. 2 (along with Vol. 1 and 3) is a better choice than the 2003 single disc SOUNDS OF SUMMER. You not only still get all of their Top 40 singles (which SOUNDS OF SUMMER can't claim), you get some key album tracks and singles that charted outside the Top 40. So Vol. 2 not only gives you the big hits like "When I Grow Up (To Be a Man)" (1964, #9) and "Heroes and Villains" (1967, #12), you get Beach Boy favorites like "Wendy" (1964, #44) and "Friends" (1968, #47), along with b-sides like "Please Let Me Wonder" and the U.K.-only single release of "Cottonfields" from 1970--where it was one of their biggest hits at #3!
Even at 20 tracks the album is still a bit skimpy (running time - 51:12), but it helps provide a solid overview of the Beach Boys first decade. Like Vol. 1, the 12-page foldout booklet is awkward, but the essay by Beach Boy author Brad Elliot offers some terrific insight, the photos are wonderful and the track-by-track studio info is informative. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
Great Material Unknown To Much Fans.......2004-01-30
Volume 2 in the "Good Vibrations" series tends give a more intriguing look at The Beach Boys. There is little, if any, inklings of the classic surf numbers. This disc seems to focus more on Brian Wilson's studio wizardry and their unique harmonies.
The first 11 tracks are from when the band was still hot and tearing up the charts. Here is where you'll find the eloquent "In My Room", the gloomy but optimistic "The Warmth Of The Sun" (great Brian falsetto on this one), the "faster, faster" vocal riff on "Little Honda", and the heartshattering "Don't Worry Baby", to name a few. Other gems include the one "Pet Sounds" track, "Caroline, No", the heartwrenching "Please Let Me Wonder", and the upbeat grooves on "You're So Good To Me".
The rest of the disc is from when the band started to become passe. Here we get tracks that are relative unknowns, with the exception of the infamous "Heroes And Villains". There's there two top 20 hits from this period, the pretty "Darlin'" and the nostalgic "Do It Again". There's also the sweet "Friends", a rock reworking of the country standard "Bluebirds Over The Mountain", and Carl's heavenly high on "I Can Hear Music". Closing this album is "Breakaway", featuring ebullient harmonies, and another reworked country standard, a marvelous Al Jardine - produced "Cottonfields".
I heavily suggest you purchase this album. It not only is full of great music but exposes the casual listener to a whole new world of Beach Boys music that they never heard before.
Not Bad, But Greatest Hits Volume One is Better.......2004-01-16
This is a must for the absolute, die-hard Beach Boys fan. However, on the other hand, if you are a more casual Beach Boys fan (nothing wrong with that either), skip this CD and get the Greatest Hits of the Beach Boys, Volume One.
The first greatest hits CD has their BEST songs, their all-time, absolute GREATEST HITS. This CD picks up where volume one leaves off and focuses on their lesser known, and less popular songs.
Some of the selections contained in this CD are "I Can Hear Music," "In My Room," "All Summer Long," and "You're So Good To Me."
These songs are a study of how the Beach Boys' material matured and evolved from car, girl, and surfing songs to more intricate songs. It was at this point in their history that Brian Wilson wanted to progress from their surfing and car material to other types of songs, but the other members of the band still wanted to play surfing and car songs.
This volume is an study in that evolution. It is certainly not a bad CD, but if you prefer the car and surfing material, stick with volume one.

A Great Comp Of Dr. Hook Songs Capitol........2007-03-03
Well in beginning i bought this album for the songs: Cover Of The Rolling Stone & When You're In Love With A Beautiful Woman. But as soon i popped in this disc i just fell in love with whole thing. the and more to title of the album impiles the fact that there are few songs tacked on for your listening pleasure, i must say my favorite tracks are: I Could'nt Believe, A Little Bit More. Sexy Eyes & Sharing The Night Together( Are Definitely Disco Influnced) but still likeable. Radio should've may the top ten along with Cover Of The Rolling Stone, Years From Now. Brings tears almost, it's tender ballad. This album is one that you'll want to dance to because there are slow and fast tunes. when i listening to this album i think of palm trees and the sun.
Disappointing.......2007-01-22
Not what I was hoping for. This album does not include several of his best songs. Definitely not his "greatest hits".
Dr. Hook & The Medicine Show-- Greatest Hits (And More) .......2007-01-18
Dr. Hook always brings back memories of my childhood. Their music is real the lyrics tell a story and it is good music to listen to after a hard days of work in your own little space. Great stuff !!!!
My opinion.......2007-01-10
I was thrilled to find this recording. I had been looking for one particular song by Dr. Hook for years and didn't know the name of it. I was so greatly surprised to find it on this albumn. It is Love Me A Little Bit More. It is a very special song to me and am thrilled to have it. I would recomend this albumn to any one that loves Dr. Hook and the Medicine Show.
I'm Hooked.......2006-09-02
Dr Hook was and still remains one of the most underated groups to emerge during the Seventies. You really had to be lucky to see them in concert but they're somewhat forgotton now. The songs on this album are all classics and will remain that way to all seventies music lovers out there. Good quiet time music is at a premium these days and " A Little Bit More " is should always be played with romance in the air. Great album!!! Two thumbs up!!!

Unforgettable.......2007-03-09
Juice Newton is one of the best counry-pop singers of all times. A great energetic voice and some real unforgettable songs.
My personal favourites include the beautiful Angel Of The Morning, the rollicking Queen of Hearts and the strong and sorrowful It's A Heartache
After all these years, her work is unforgettable, catchy and full of energy and vibe.
Juice's Greatest.......2007-01-27
I saw Juice Newton in concert way back when Angel of the Morning first came out and I was blown away by the purity of her voice. I remember it gave me goosebumps. So I was browsing through Amazon and came across this greatest hits cd and figured it was time to update the handful of vinyl albums I own. This cd has all her major hits and its great to hear that marvelous voice without all those pops and clicks of my old vinyl. And it may just be my old ears, but I swear the songs on this cd sound like re-recordings...not the originals. I could be wrong, but I've heard Heart of the Night hundreds of of times and on this cd, her voice sounds just a shade older. Even so, the songs still sound great and this is highly recommended.
Hits and others.......2007-01-19
I wanted the hits, I got them and some others I don't remember on this album. Great to have the hits...guess I'll save my opinion on the others until I figure out whether I really like them or not.
Juice Newton-Greatest Hits.......2007-01-08
Very Good CD well worth the price. She is a very good singer she
reminds me of Janie Frickie. She sings country and pop and baled
I really like this CD it has a bunch of here hits on it and some
that I have not heard before very nice.
Sincerely, Jason or Peter Pielak.
Beautiful, Heartfelt Singing!.......2006-08-04
Juice Newton is a great singer. Her verson of "Love has been a little bit hard on me" sounds like she is singing from her own experience. This lady really makes you "feel" the sadness or joy about which she sings! I guess she might be retired by now but her heartfelt singing and wonderful songs live on! You'll enjoy this one! The years 1975-1988 contained big successes for Barbra Streisand, though she ran through an unsteady gauntlet of disco-fied pop and pseudo-Broadway show stoppers. This collection, originally released in 1989, brings together the hits of those years--like the two Barry Gibb duets, "What Kind of Fool" and "Guilty"--in a range of production scenarios utilizing the talents of Rupert Holmes, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Phil Ramone, Dave Gruisin, and others. The two new recordings added to begin and end the package, "We're Not Makin' Love Anymore" and "Somewhere," serve as bookends of the dance and ballad style Streisand revolved around throughout her later career. --Stephen M.H. Braitman

I have been looking all over for this cd and have just ordered a replacement. I haven't listened to this collection in a long time, but just reading the reviews on this board makes me long to hear it again. Quality music from a gifted songstress. A must for any collection!
Barbra's 3rd Greatest Hits title....as great as her first two!!.......2006-06-10
This album, Barbra Streisand A Collection Greatest Hits...and More was released in October, 1989. I have this title on all three formats: LP, tape and CD. Every one of these songs is great to listen to. A majority of these songs were previously released on her earlier 80s album titles (except for two songs from the 70s, I should point out here), while two others were recorded specifically for this title's release. This album is not quite titled "Barbra Streisand's Greatest Hits, Volume 3", although this album's title sounds extremely close to that, and that some people would almost refer to this album as that. Her first Greatest Hits album, released in late '69 or early '70, profiled her best known songs from the 60s, her Greatest Hits, Volume 2 album, released in late '78, profiled her best known songs from the 70s, and this "Collection Greatest Hits...and More" title is a profile of her songs from the 80s (except for two songs which were done back in the 70s). This would also be considered, in my opinion in general, a mixed bag album of songs with different sounds. Most of these are easy listening, but one of them, "The Main Event/Fight", has an upbeat disco sound to it. Barbra's voice is as wonderful as ever on this album; not a bad note was sung by her on any one of these song titles. I can also assume that since this album first came out in October of 1989, it was (or may have been) the last title of Barbra's to be officially released on vinyl, as it was only a matter of time before records were discontinued to make way for tapes and CDs (I can take an assumed guess and think that records were discontinued about a year or a year and a half later after this title came out). So, get this album and let this wonderful voice of Barbra's pour out of your CD stereo's speakers. No Barbra Streisand music library should be complete without this album!! Get it while you can!!
Barbra Streisand: A Collection-Greatest Hits...And More (1989).......2005-08-19
In October of 1989, Barbra Streisand released her thirty-second album entitled, A COLLECTION: GREATEST HITS...AND MORE. This would be Barbra's fourth greatest hits compilation, featuring her hits from the last ten years, as well as three new songs. Another great compilation.
WE'RE NOT MAKIN' LOVE ANYMORE
New song. Great.
WOMAN IN LOVE
From the album GUILTY (1980). Great song.
ALL I ASK OF YOU
From the album TILL I LOVED YOU (1988). Beautiful song to the best Broadway musical.
COMIN' IN AND OUT OF YOUR LIFE
From the album MEMORIES (1981). Great song.
WHAT KIND OF FOOL (Duet with Barry Gibb)
From the album GUILTY (1980). Great song.
THE MAIN EVENT/FIGHT
From the original motion picture & motion picture soundtrack THE MAIN EVENT (1979). Barbra Streisand had the lead female role in this song's title film. I have never seen the film, but this song, which turned out to be the film's theme song, is just outstanding.
SOMEONE THAT I USED TO LOVE
New song. Great.
BY THE WAY
New song. Great.
GUILTY (Duet with Barry Gibb)
From the album GUILTY (1980). Hate it.
MEMORY
From the album MEMORIES (1981). Beautiful rendition.
THE WAY HE MAKES ME FEEL
From the original motion picture & motion picture soundtrack YENTL (1983). Great song.
SOMEWHERE
From the album THE BROADWAY ALBUM (1985). Beautiful. Just simply beautiful. That is the best way I could describe this song, which was the love theme to "West Side Story".
With the exception of "Guilty", this album is just amazing. A COLLECTION: GREATEST HITS...AND MORE should be standing in your collections right now. I know I've been saying this over and over, but I would not be saying it if the albums I've reviewed weren't great. This album is one of the greats and it should be put into your Barbra Streisand catalog.

Sometimes When We Touch...touches me..........2007-03-16
If you are a child of the 60's or 70's, prepare your soul for a trip back home. His music and his lyrics are as simple as rain yet as deep as the sea. What's not to love about "sometimes when we touch, the honesty's too much and I have to close my eyes and cry." A sweet melancholy awaits you...light the candles.
You better enjoy ballads..........2007-03-02
If you like Dan Hill's typical mellow, bordering-on-cheesy, ballads, then this is a good album for you. Hill is known for his love-themed, practically-cheesy, mellow ballads, and this album is full of them. His popular tracks, "Sometimes When We Touch" and "Can't We Try", are on this compilation, along with several other ballads. Although his duets are recorded with Ricque Franks, who isn't the original duet partner, the songs still sound fairly comparable to the originals. "In Your Eyes" is another nice ballad with his typical love-theme, but slightly different than his other hits. There are about six nice ballads in this compilation, but I just about skipped through his non-ballads. Some artists are strictly balladeers and Dan Hill is about as "balladeer" as you can get. Dan Hill's music is somewhere between Barry Manilow and Joe Cocker, so if you're into the mellow/raspy voice ballads, you definitely will enjoy this one.
Dan Hill Greatest Hits.......2007-01-20
I was disappointed that Dan Hill Hit Song the Dance of Love was NOT included in this collection of his hits i thought this was a little misleadung, This CD should have had all of his hits on it. Again i was disappointed
1 because there's no zero.......2006-02-05
I wonder how many people have a song that by the 2nd time they hear it, they can't change the station on the radio fast enough. "Sometimes When We Touch" is that song for me.

Dan Hill had two top 40 hits and ten hits on the adult contemporary chart from 1977 to 1994. Of the tracks on this album, only three are in either category "Sometimes When We Touch", "All I See Is Your Face", and one of his two duets with Rique Franks that charted, "In Your Eyes". The rest of the CD contains an alternate version of "Sometimes When We Touch", two new versions of 80's hits, and six non-charted songs. If you're looking for a good collection of Dan Hill's charted hits, this is NOT it!

Up on the roof .......2007-01-05
It is difficult to describe the kind of sheer joy and sense of freedom which comes from listening to one song here 'Up on the Roof'. I believe it to be one of the greatest of all pop songs and one which most perfectly expresses that desire to in pure kind of joy , a freedom in joy which comes most naturally in youth.
It is one of the songs which have stayed with me all through the years, and gives pleasure to this day.
There are other fine pieces here, including ' On Broadway' but being up on the roof with the Drifters is as high in my opinion as pop music can go.
The DriftersTunes We Most Remember.......2004-10-02
This is the one, folks! Although Clyde McPhatter made some memorable songs in the early '50s as lead singer for the Drifters (songs later covered successfully by other name artists), the Drifters we most remember had Ben E. King or one of the seven others (count them) who followed him as lead singer. They are all in this compilation. Everybody has a favorite of these; although I like all the "A" sides (and many of the B's), I have always been fond of "Please Stay" (Don't Go) which is virtually never played on the radio. Today many of the Drifters are gone and various groups travel the country singing their songs (sometimes alternately appearing as The Coasters). If you want the real deal, though, this is it. By the way, in case you didn't know, Ben E. King "left" the group because the other members of the group failed to show up for a recording session and his product was released under his name only. Do you remember the name of it?
All the Drifters hits from 1959 to 1965 - and much more.......2002-10-07
The Drifters were onne of those groups that went through a lot of line-up changes, so let's first clear up any confusion first. There was a group with that name before 1959 - it feautured Clyde McPhatter and recorded some wonderful R+B, some of which is available on other CD's. That group was disbanded, and a totally different group was given the Drifters name. It is that line-up, featuring Ben E King, that opens this collection (which is presented in chronological order). Ben left after Save the last dance for me to pursue a solo career. His solo hits are not included in this collection, which is why Spanish Harlem and Stand by me are missing. You can obtain these recordings on Ben's own albums, although I've also seen Drifters compilations which include Ben's solo hits.
So, what you get here are forty of the finest tracks from their best period, including Save the last dance for me, There goes my baby, Dance with me, On Broadway, Some kind of wonderful, One way love, Up on the roof, Under the boardwalk, Saturday night at the movies, When my little girl is smiling, Sweets for my sweet and others - all huge American hits. Only Save the last dance for me was a big hit in Britain for the Drifters, because record companies at that time often found local singers to cover the songs and they had the hits instead. This shameful practice died out by the end of the sixties.
Even with all their hits included, there is plenty of room to explore their B-sides and album tracks. All the ones included here are excellent, but my favorite is their cover of Stranger on the shore, an extremely sad song which which was a huge instrumental hit for clarinetist Acker Bilk. Many vocal versions of this song exist, but the Drifters sing it as well as anybody.
After 1965 (which marks the end of this compilation), the Drifters didn't have much success in America, but they enjoyed a new wave of popularity in the seventies in Britain, where they had several top ten hits. Even as a Brit, I prefer their sixties music, but anybody interested in their seventies music should seek out a British compilation.
Excellent collection of timeless Pop & R&B songs.......2002-07-27
Together with Elvis Presley, Phil Spector's bands, The Everly Brothers, The Beatles, Dusty Springfield, The Beach Boys, some from Motown, Brenda Lee, The Rolling Stones or Tina Turner among others, The Drifters have also written their page in Rock'n'Roll history, a fact that I don't realise whether it has been some time acknowledged.
The legendary group recorded songs that are today timeless pop or R&B classics; Save The Last Dance For Me, Dance With Me, Sweets For My Sweet, Some Kind Of Wonderful, When My Little Girl is Smiling, On Broadway, my personal best favourites: Up On The Roof, At The Club, Under the Boardwalk, and This Magic Moment, are only some gems of their musical legacy. They have been covered by dozens of artists and they still continue to be covered by others.
The Drifters' choice of songs and songwriters were exemplary: Doc Pomus, Mort Shuman, Bacharach, Hilliard, David, Jerry Leiber, Mike Stoller, Bert Russell, Jerry Ragovoy, Goffin/King, Kenny Young, Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil, almost all the best of the 60s.
A must-have for those who love 60's music, for collectors and also for those who feel curious about all the richness and beauty the music of that time gave the world.

Al Green - More Greatest Hits.......2007-05-26
Al Green at his best! Every fan of his should purchase this CD.
there is nothing like Al Green.......2004-07-06
There is nothing like Al Green for a day just hanging out
and listening to smooth tunes!
There are alot you can sing too, but great for dinner music playing in the background.
Excellent collection of his songs.
A Legend.......2004-02-18
This was when music was MUSIC. This is a GREAT CD. Thank you Al for giving my generation (60s, 70s & 80s)a real reason to listen, love, enjoy and appreciate good soul music from your heart. This is what real R&B is all about!
One Love
My First Al Green Album.......2002-12-19
I'd been hearing this singer on movie soundtracks and his numbers always enhanced the movie in question. This was his first album that I ever listened to and if he has even better ones, as some other reviewers here claim, I find that hard to believe. He is the consummate artist as the soulful, heartbroken, lovelorn singer. He hits each song here perfectly and is a master of conveying emotion. My favorite is "How Do You Mend a Broken Heart." The only song I could pass on is "To Sir With Love" because I've always thought it was a bad composition. Green does his best even with this lesser number.
Great for those who want to go deeper into Green's Catalog.......2001-08-30
This CD is not for the "fly by night" Al Green fan. For those fans, his "Greatest Hits" CD is probably sufficient. However, for those who want to delve deeper into Green's repertoire, this is a great CD. My only thought is that if you are that big of an Al Green fan, you will probably want to buy the individual CDs, so this CD may be repetitive. However, if you want a one stop shop for Green's more peripheral material, this CD won't do you wrong.

No one is soon likely to persuade you to change your religion, and if your belief system won't allow you to view the music of John Tesh without a skeptical or derisive eye, then Forever More, Tesh's second compilation project (Monterey Nights being the first), will probably do nothing to alter your view. For the converted, though, this 13-track collection is a pleasant, wide-ranging sampler of the pianist-composer's varied output between 1989 and 1998. The package offers no new tracks or revelatory elements, and fans could argue with some of the selections. Grand Passion, a fine album of solo piano originals, perhaps could have been represented here by a stronger selection than its title track, and were two songs featuring vocalist James Ingram needed? Yet Tesh's fundamental skill is apparent: the capacity to pen accessible, heart-touching melodies and perform them with conviction, spirit, and sincerity. While tailored more for Tesh's easy-listening fans, the highlights of Forever More are found in its dynamic opening trio of selections, two of which ("Barcelona," "Concetta") come from Live at Red Rocks. Here's hoping that the commanding bravura that guided Tesh's earlier work will find its way into the studio for future projects. --Terry Wood
Customer Reviews:
GREAT songwriter.......2003-01-03
I am a fan of Rush and the B-52's and I like John Tesh. Some of the slow songs are dull, but Barcalona and all his fast songs ROCK. Not many reviews here. and one is from a loon. People are missing out! Remember, critics hate quality. They hate RUSH...enough said.
A sickening waste of space.......2001-11-26
Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.
A sickeening waste of space.......2001-11-26
Sick, sick, sick, sick, sick, sick.
A great introduction and retrospective of John Tesh's works.......2001-09-09
Sure, I fully realize that John Tesh is one of the most bashed and trashed figures in the current music scene. He's a showman, maybe more showman than musician though that's arguable. But the bottom line is that I like the sound on this CD escept for the two songs by James Ingram. I respect those who have no use for Tesh--musicologiests, you might want to stay away from this. But those who enjoy Yanni and the Boston Pops orchestra should find much to favor here. So hold on while I tell you what I liked and why.
GARDEN CITY--The quiet, tentative intro and the ruthmic beat of the development, the build up on intensity as he plays around with the one key phrase. It's this kind of repetition of one phrase that separates those who like this style from those who don't.
BARCELONA--A musical portrait of the spanish city including the flavor of the well known bull ring. (I hate the idea of bullfighting, but it is part of the scene of that city.)
CONCETTA--A strident piece with modern dissonant moments and great stringed accompaniment.
ONE WORLD--Do I spot allusions to X-FILES?
BECAUSE YOU LOVED ME--Diane Warren's song popularized by Celine Dion, and from the movie UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL given full treatment here--a natural for the former Entertainment Tonight co-host.
GRAND PASSION--Piano and Viola blend
BASTILLE DAY--a quiet, rather soulful tribute
SPANISH STEPS--A danceable (almost) number here with jazzy overtones.
ONE MORE NIGHT--Warren Hill on alto sax and Tesh do their thing with this Phil Collins hit.
The best antidepressant! Love the feeling ....wow!.......2001-08-31
A great combination of exilerating music to uplift anyone!
