Editorial Reviews

Strait has long been an expert at Texas swing and Texas honky-tonk, but on this album he stretches out to prove he's just as good with dance music from Louisiana and California. "Adalida" is a surprisingly authentic Cajun two-step with lively fiddle fills by Stuart Duncan, while "I'll Always Be Loving You" sounds like classic Bakersfield with Brent Mason adding the bright electric guitar fills. Two Jim Lauderdale songs combine funny lyrics and twitchy dancehall rhythms, and an old Max Barnes number, "No One but You," is given a seductive swing arrangement. Coproduced by Strait and Tony Brown, "Lead On" proves that country music doesn't have to sacrifice great singing to keep the dancers happy. --Geoffrey Himes

5 out of 5 stars The picture.......2006-12-11

I haven't purchased the CD but the picture of the inside of a church on the cover is not of a British church, like one would assume since it says its a recording of British choirs. This picture is of Notre Dame Basilica in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Just thought i'd let you know. I'll be honest; I'm one to judge things by it's cover and if the company took such care to choose a 'British' church for their British choir CD, I'm willing to bet the music is equally well selected... I'm being sarcastic. But I gave the product 5 stars because I didn't want to hurt its ratings just because i'm cynical. But check out the church if you're ever in Montreal, it's truly beautiful... here I'm not being sarcastic.

Customer Reviews:

4 out of 5 stars Nice Collection.......2007-03-05

I have many collections of Purcell's Music. This collection stands up to them at half the price. Solid buy.

5 out of 5 stars PERFECT!.......2006-10-26

There is only a word with which I can describe this set of discs: perfect!
The only flaw there is, is not related to the singing or playing: no text enclosed.

5 out of 5 stars Great singing and excellent value for money.......2004-09-19

This is probably one of the best anthologies of Purcell songs around, and not just because it's two-for-one pricing means it contains twice as much music (CD1:74'24" & CD2: 77'41")! Nancy Argenta has an irrepressible sense of style and crystal clear diction. But unlike Emma Kirby, whose vocal purity can become tiresome, these renditions radiate warmth. She is also, I have found, more consistently involving than any one of the singers in Hyperion's three disc survey of Complete Secular Songs (recently reissued as a single set). One marvels at how she judiciously balances restraint and emotional forthrightness. The accompaniments (archlute, viola da gamba, harpsichord, and organ) are well judged and blend with the voice, all helped by an excellently defined recording acoustic. This is an absolute winner at any price!

5 out of 5 stars More than two hours of beautiful 17th century 'ayres'.......2001-08-02

Two CDs, totaling more than 150 minutes of sparsely-arranged (never more than 3-5 instruments at a time), sweetly-sung, 350 year old 'ayres' (a typically English form of secular music). Nancy Argenta's soprano voice is lovely, silvery indeed as her name implies. The instruments are a discreet but friendly accompaniment to her solo voice. Perhaps the instruments are a little too discreet -- there are times when I wish they were a touch more prominent. But that is a very, very minor complaint. A beautiful collection, and quite well worth the money.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Lead Me On Amy Grant.......2007-05-26

Hello. This is a powerful album with a positive messege. These are good songs.

5 out of 5 stars Great CD.......2007-04-21

The more I listen to this cd, the more I like it!

At first I thought it was an Amy Grant Lemon, but the more I listened, the more I realized the songs were terrific; it was just the 80's production value I disliked: heavy drum synthesizer sound on practically all the songs, etc.

Unlike the previous reviewer, "Sure Enough" and "All Right" are two of my favorite songs on the cd. Very catchy, upbeat tunes that stay with you long after the cd is over.

I've been an Amy Grant fan for years, but I didn't own this one, until just recently. Very nice, and I enjoyed Gary Chapman's musicianship on this one. Really miss his music.

Great cd.

4 out of 5 stars Some of her best stuff..........2007-03-04

It has been an interesting thing to watch the various iterations of Amy Grant's career over the past three decades, who seems to have run the gamut from being the poster child of Contemporary Christian Music through her secular hits and a more recent return to songs about her Christian faith heritage. The "Lead Me On" album seems to be a high point in the transition from CCM success to a more mainstream focus.

"Lead Me On" is a solid effort. Grant wrote many of the songs herself, which I always appreciate. The title track is great, as are "Shadows" and "Wait for the Healing." "If These Walls Could Speak" is probably my favorite track, with great lyrics and a beautiful melody.

Of course, this album has a very dated 80's sound to it. And there are a few clunkers. I don't like the very drum-heavy "All Right." And "Sure Enough" has a very strange guitar solo that just doesn't fit with Amy Grant's style.

A few minor gripes notwithstanding, I really enjoy this album. For those who don't mind the sound of the 80's, "Lead Me On" is a good album to get a taste of how Amy Grant hit the charts and laid the groundwork for the multi-platinum (and far inferior) "Heart of Motion." Other than my personal favorite Grant album, "Collection," I recommend "Lead Me On" as a good place to hear and appreciate why Amy Grant has had such a successful career over the years.

5 out of 5 stars Simply a Fabulous Album.......2006-03-07

I am 19 years old, and I can still remember hearing this when I was 3 and 4 years old along with all other Amy Grant albums. There is just something about this one and 2 songs in particular that captured me when I was a little kid and I still love these songs today. I am one of the few young people who know that Amy Grant is almost solely responsible for Chrisian music being what it is today......artists now owe alot to Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith, Rich mullin...etc.

Saved by Love is very well done vocally with Amy hitting the different harmonies. Many other songs are great also, but without a doubt the powerhouse song on this album is "Lead Me On".

Lets start with the intro to the song....if you have only seen the video or heard the shorter version you are cheating yourself. It starts off with just the base pedal and soft electric guitars in the backround. It slowly builds up to the chorus with a great lead guitar part. Then fades to the verse. There are many great musical performances on this song but the best is the Drumming....Fantastic. Now lets get to the lyrics. It discusses the slavery of the Jews in Eygpt before their deliverance. The second verse talks about the holocaust. It is very haunting but done very well. The chorus is infectious. Lead Me On, Lead Me On To a place where the river runs into YOUR keeping....Lead Me On Lead Me On the awaited deliverance comforts the seeking ....Lead On. The bridge does something not many christian artists did back then....it left you pondering WHY these things happen??

There is a reason why this album is rated the #1 by ccm as the greatest Christian album of all-time. This is a must have, by the greatest chrsitian artist there has ever been.

5 out of 5 stars One of Amy's Best.......2005-10-04

This cd was one of my favorites growing up. Then it was on a cassette which left out songs like "Wait for the Healing" and "If You Have to go Away" off the tape. The cd is awesome. A must own for an Amy Grant fan or anyone who likes rockin' Christian music.

5 out of 5 stars The Price Club.......2005-04-28

"I am here," said Leontyne Price when interviewed as she opened the new Metropolitan Opera with Samuel Barber's underrated ANTONY AND CLEOPATRA, "and you will know that I am the best and will hear me. The color of my skin or the kink of my hair or the spread of my mouth has nothing to do with what you are listening to." Back in the 1960s Price was one of the greatest divas in all of opera, and it wasn't just her voice but her magnificent stage presence, combined with her social activism. All of the above come into play in this collection of secular songs and ditties, some of them traditional plantation chanties and others, art songs and a scattering of pop music. And some of them, like Gershwin's "Summertime," cross the ever-permeable boundaries between Broadway and classical. These recordings were made at different times in Price's career, and her voice, while always angelic, has different shadings and reaches a different range of timbre in each separate recording date, but there is no question that, as time goes by, she is able to impart a richness of life experience noticeably absent from some of her earlier work.

"Ave Maria" sounds heavenly no matter which way you slice it, and as for "I Wonder As I Wander," it brings tears to your eyes. If you have a heart that's beating you will be moved by this rendition. "Ein feste Burg" is pretty strong, but Price seems more comfortable with the traditional spirituals, though perhaps it is the slightly off-kilter sounds of the Ambrosian Singers (what a name) who back her up on many of these tracks, that detract slightly from the experience. Compare "Lead Kindly Light" for a clear sense of what constitutes authority vs. what is a wee bit overproduced. If you had this compilation, and perhaps one of Leontyne Price's Christmas albums, you could attain nirvana any time you wanted to, just flip a switch and close your eyes, let her lift you up on wings of song.

5 out of 5 stars A living legend.......2005-03-10

Leontyne Price (still alive) and already passing into immortality amongst vocal artists, both classical and popular. Leontyne Price stands at the pinnacle of her classical art, but those who only know her work in La Forza del destino or the Verdi Requiem are in for a heart rending treat with this album where Leontyne Price goes home to her roots in Mississippi and gives an unabashed account of the classic spirituals she sang as a young woman. Like John Mc Cormacks rendering of Irish songs there is a personal longing and devotion expressed here that reveals a side of the artist not known in the bulk of their "classical" repetoire. A sense of going home like Citizen Kane's rosebud, or as Dorothy Gale observes at the end of the Wizard of Oz "everything I could ever have wanted was right in my own backyard "

1 out of 5 stars not your daddy's old timey spiritual.......2004-06-23

Agreed this is a good cd for a beautiful voice, but this is not, repeat not, for someone who wants to hear that old-timey religious fervor that you think of when you've been to a Black Baptist hand-clapping, standing, swaying, and singing service.

5 out of 5 stars Immaculate Vocals of Leontyne Price.......2003-12-31

IMMACULATE, SUPERB vocal range and style! There's no other words that can complement Miss Leontyne Price's vocal arrangements. Miss Price's voice is strong, and shrills very nicely to the instruments played on many songs listed on this double CD which is a joy to treasure; every song listed are songs I was raised to hearing and singing. Miss Price is the reason why many of these songs remain in popularity and presently used. Miss Leontyne Price has been incredible in many of her past performances. This is my fourth CD of Miss Price and I am glad to own this particular CD forever and ever. Many thanks to the executors who found this remarkable album and upgraded it to a CD format! **Angi**

4 out of 5 stars Great Gospel Stuff.......2001-04-12

This is a great CD. The only problem I have with it is that on some of the selections there is a boy's choir screaming in the background, and this takes away (a bit) from her performance. That said, her best selections are those that are either unaccompanied or those where her voice is not buried. Songs that strike me are - His Name So Sweet, He's Got The Whole World, Were You There, I Wonder as I Wander, Lift Every Voice and Sing, and my all time favourite Summertime. Enough said.

Album Description

The 7th solo album from singer/songwriter Colin Hay (from Men at Work). This album shows Colin Hay at the top of his game. It is a most compelling work from a brilliant songwriter. The album has a full electric sound with lush string and horn arrangements. Undoubtedly his best album to date.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Colin Hay is awesome!.......2006-05-11

My husband turned me on to Colin Hay as he and his best friend from high school were big "Men at Work" fans and subsequently followed his solo career. "Company of Strangers and "How Long Will It Last?" are beautiful, beautiful songs. I love the strings in "Company of Strangers"; it's a mesmerizing song. Of course, the lyrics on this CD are fantastic, as always, especially in "How Long Will It Last?"

This is my favorite CD right now. Buy it. You will NOT be disappointed. All of the songs are good. (The only one I skip is "Lucky Bastard" because I listen to the CD in the van with my 6-year-old and 4-year-old sons. They love Colin Hay and know the lyrics!

Incidentally, my husband and I were fortunate to have seen Colin Hay in concert at a club in Denver this past year. Colin is an OUTSTANDING performer -- funny, too! I can't wait to see him again!

5 out of 5 stars Colin Hay at Largo In Los Angeles.......2006-04-09

Just saw Colin tonight in the tiny club Largo on Fairfax in Los Angeles where he is a egular since he lives here - He began the set acoustic and then brought on four others, including his wife. The set lasted about 2 hours and was filled with Colin's humor and an absolutely amazing array of his solo work and some MAW singles as well. I hadn't purchased any of his solo work, but after tonight, they are all part of my collection - "Company" being the favorite since he played many of the songs found here -

4 out of 5 stars As Always, Good Stuff.......2005-12-30

You may find this one a bit sleepy at first, but stick with it. It's more mid- and slow-tempo than previous Hay albums like "Looking For Jack," "Wayfaring Sons," and "Topanga." On the first pass, only "Small Town Big Hell," "No Win Situation," "Don't Wait Up," and the haunting title track really jumped out at me. However, if you give it a few tries, songs like "I Got Woken Up," "Dear J," "How Long Will it Last" and the closer really start to grow on you. I started out mildly disappointed and ended up thinking it's among the best work he's ever done. It also features the third recording thus far of "Beautiful World," this one virtually indistinguishable from the version on "Man @ Work." It's a gorgeous song, though, so fine by me. All in all, a very worthy buy for fans of this underrated artist.

I provide the following as a checklist for Colin Completists who are stymied and frustrated by the lack of availability of his solo albums. If you wanna have it all, this is what you gotta get (wherever you can get it):
- LOOKING FOR JACK [1986, not commercially available]
- WAYFARING SONS [1990, not commercially available]
- PEAKS & VALLEYS [1992, available on import]
- TOPANGA [1994, available but expensive]
- TRANSCENDENTAL HIGHWAY [1998, available]
- GOING SOMEWHERE [2000, available]
- COMPANY OF STRANGERS [2002, available]
- MAN @ WORK [2003, available]

Good luck!

5 out of 5 stars Colin Hay is Amazing!.......2005-08-19

There is so much to say about this extremely talented artist, but the other reviews have done such a fine job in doing so. Along with Jeff Lynne (of ELO), Colin Hay is one of the most talented, yet under-appreciated musicians of our time. And, this album is truly one of his finest compilations. Colin is one of the few artists that can bring me to tears with the beauty of his music (in a weak moment). :) Order this CD while you can and try to see Colin in concert. You'll see exactly what I mean.

Majestic hymns sung with British accents. A great combination! I haven't noticed any objectionable sounds on my copy.

4 out of 5 stars hymns we sang in church.......2003-02-16

i grew up in a traditional presbyterian church that had a pipe organ. i wanted a cd of many of the hymns that we sang in church sung by a choir and accompanied by a pipe organ. this cd fulfilled my wishes perfectly. the hymns are performed in a very straight-forward fashion with no show-boating or excess flourishes which is exactly what i wanted. this is not gospel music but what i refer to as liturgical music to indicate that it is religious music but not gospel music. i would give it 5 stars but there is a slight hiss. other than that the recording quality is very good.

I dont think george strait would know how to put a bad cd out

4 out of 5 stars A very good album for the most part.......2005-02-05

Whilst George Strait hasn't had the same level of success of other 1980s and 1990s Country singers, he has indeed had as much consistency as the best of them, to date he has topped the US Country Chart with 50 different songs.

Whilst he was not a revolutionist (ala Garth Brooks, who draw some of his inspiration from Strait) he most certainly brought the tradition instruments such as Fiddle and Steel Guitar back to the forefront of Country music.

This album, recorded more 13 years after his debut, opens with the track "You can't make a heart love somebody", a track about a man proposing to the love of his life, who has to break the news she doesn't feel the same (it features the heart choking line "My Heart's the only part of me that's not in love with you"). Steel Guitar a-plenty, this is a true Country "tear in my beer" love song.

"Adalida" the next selection on "Lead On" is more upbeat, with a Cajun feel. It's a good song but by no means the best.
"I met a friend of yours today", however, is one of those great story telling songs, that was a big airplay success on Country Radio in both Britain and America in the 90's.
This is the type of song that would go down very well at the end of a small Nashville concert (although The Stadiums George plays today probably would want to end on a more upbeat number).

Other standout cuts on this selection include "The Big One." This was indeed a big Strait hit and another transalantic success on Country Radio (In the 1990s, (then) DJ of London's Country 1035AM, Randy Lee Rose, once played the track back to back on his show). Cleverly written with lines such as "S.O.S in this situation means She's Outta Site".

The already mentioned songs along with "Nobody Has To Get Hurt", "What Am I Waiting For" and the ballad "Lead On" represent the best of the album.

The 3 remaining tracks "Noone But You", "I'll Always be loving you" and "Down Louisiana Way" are all ok, but you'll probably find yourselfs skipping these tracks after a few listens to get to the better ones.

Overall, a nice album by one of the (many) good singers in the country genre.

5 out of 5 stars Great George Strait CD.......2004-09-28

This is one of my favorite George Strait CDs. I can listen to this CD over and over again and never get tired of it. This is one of a few CDs where I like each of the songs on the CD. Most of the songs on this CD are upbeat and fun like "Adalida", "The Big One", "Down Louisiana Way", and "What Am I Waiting For." There are also a few classic George Strait love songs and sad songs like "You Can't Make a Heart Love Somebody", "Lead On", and "I Met a Friend of Yours Today."

I would definitely recommend this CD to any George Strait or country music fan.

5 out of 5 stars markk.......2004-07-11

this is one of his best one of his most upbeat cds The song "what am I waiting for" alone is worth the price of the cd. "I met a friend of yours today", "andalina", "down louisanna way" are also great songs which makes this one of straits best I highly recommend this cd if your in the mood for some upbeat country music

5 out of 5 stars Transformative.......2007-05-20

About ten years ago I first heard Phelps play at the East Coast Blues festival in New South Wales and, from that time, he forever changed the way I heard music as well as sending me off in a new direction in terms of what I listened to. It was instantaneous and durable change. This brilliant album confirmed everything about that first hearing. Not everything that KJP does enthrals me but this album is uniformly genius. It will break your heart and mend it at the same time.
Borrowing from Spinal Tap, there aren't enough stars for this recording. By the way, can CDs wear out?

5 out of 5 stars Simple and Great.......2006-12-13

This is a great album by a great guitar player. As one of Kelly Joe Phelps earlier recordings it is simple and easy to reach. A man and a guitar. Cliche perhaps, but Phelps can play, man can he play! I enjoy his later stuff but always return ti this album over the years.

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful, Sad, Distinctive Slide Guitar.......2006-01-29

Kelly Joe Phelps has a truly unique and distinctive sound: acoustic slide guitar with a forlorn, dreamy quality, and a deep voice that slightly slurs the words. He sounds like the Billy Bob Thornton character from Sling Blade; like he can't decide if he wants to say the words and release them, or keep `em and eat `em.

The songs on this album are perfect for such a grudging and despondent (yet gorgeous) sound. Skip James' "Hard Time Killin' Floor Blues" (Jack King suggests: "When a woman gets over on you and you just can't seem to do anything about it, and you can't stay away from her even though you do your best, and your mind is all a mess from it. You promise yourself to never see her again and wind up at her door a minute later. She has you on the Killing Floor.") The songs are about heart ache, dying (Now in the time of dying/I don't want nobody to moan/All I want my friends to do/Come and fold my dying arms/Whoa Whoa well so I can die easy/Whoa Whoa well so I can die easy/Whoa Whoa well so I can die easy/Jesus gonna make up my dying bed), and Motherless Children. Not exactly upbeat stuff, but so beautiful and mellow that this is an album you will listen to over and over. Nearly all of KJP's albums are terrific, but this is one of his best.

5 out of 5 stars His First and BEST.......2005-10-16

This is a musician's muscician at his best. The new listener is truly lucky, and will be treated to the most stunningly proficient slide guitar (stop what you're thinking -- this is not sloppy, roadhouse twang, but brilliantly interwoven guitar like you've never heard before) and utterly unique vocals. Even legendary guitarists like Leo Kottke have offered special praise for Phelps. Yet this is warmly accessible and engrossing music -- you'll be singing it in the shower -- and his original songs sound as if they've been handed down for a hundred years. Top 10 favorite of the 500 cds I own.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent light acoustic blues..........2005-09-26

I have to thank Amazon for pushing Kelly Joe Phelps my way. I likely may never have heard of him otherwise. And what a find this artist is!

The recording is crisp and clear but it is stripped down. It is just Kelly Joe playing his slide guitar with the percussion from a stomp box. As others note, he is a masterful slide guitar player. His vocals are perfect for his musical style. It is a very mellow blues sound. The songs do not have a lot in the way of melody. It is not something you will likely sing along with (though you may certainly tap your toe to it). In fact, I still have not really focused a lot on the lyrics (who knows what I may be missing out on). But the sounds just wash over you. There is no real uptempo song or anything that you will really get down with. If you're looking to jam, this record isn't the one. But if you're feeling laid back or contemplative, there may be no better choice. If you are busy with other things, this album is excellent background.

For those that enjoy a mellow, stripped down acoustic slide guitar sound, Kelly Joe is a perfect find. Though some may bristle at the comparison, his sound reminds me of Ben Harper's acoustic lighter stuff (Disc 2 of Live From Mars, for instance). Of course Kelly Joe Phelps' sound is much more firmly rooted in the blues. Yet they share a folk similarity as well.

Really a perfect debut album. If you like the style, you can't go wrong.

5 out of 5 stars a voice teacher and early music fan.......2007-02-05

This is a really good representation of 20th century hymn tunes sung by a typical British Choir made up of boy sopranos, male altos and the usual number of tenors and basses. The choir sings very well using good diction and appropriate interpretation. The arrangements are varied, different groups of voices singing parts of a hymn usually alternating and eventually the full choir joins in; nothing unusual in the arrangements themselves. There is a nice variety of hymns, some more interesting than others. I will comment on a few of them as follows:
The opening hymn:'Christ, triumphant, ever reigning' is a good opener in that it is quick and begins with the boy sopranos and immediately gets your attention. John Barnard's majestic 'Guiting Power' tune sweeps the words up in a wide-ranging,flowing melody that creates from them a fine hymn.
'I, the Lord of sea and sky(Here I am, Lord) is a truly striking hymn! The words of this song begin with a proclamation in the verses; this is answered in the refrain by the singer's commitment to service. This is reflected in the tune. The melody for the verses has a vigorous movement to proclaim the work of God in creation, His continuing love for that creation, and His call for service. Both the words and music are by the American Jesuit musician Daniel L. Schutte, who has served both on college campuses and in parish ministry.
'All My Hope On God Is Founded' the tune of which is written by Herbert Howells and is called 'Michael'in memory of his son who died in childhood. It is a lovely melody and the words suit it very well.
The composer Ralph Vaughan Williams was the music editor of the 'English Hymnal'. The most widely used of his own tunes was the 'Monk's Gate' which he created from a folk tune. It is subtly contrived, as the rhythm of the alleluias shows. 'Sine nomine' simply means without a name. The resulting hymn is 'For All the Saints'.

The Wells Cathedral Choir under the direction of Malcolm Archer accompanied by Rupert Gough on the organ have produced an excellent disc.

4 out of 5 stars Dan Schutte's Here I Am, Lord.......2001-01-08

I bought this collection because I saw the song, Here I Am, Lord written by Daniel Schutte. I grew up singing this song and many other pieces from the St. Louis Jesuits and this continues to be one that has deep meaning for me. In addition, the other pieces in this collection are very enjoyable to listen to, not only for worship but for time of reflection.

4 out of 5 stars God is an Englishman.......2000-06-05

After the Anglican Communion, particularly the American branch, has completed its transformation from a church to a political-social club, at least it will be remembered for two things: the beautiful and influential language of its Book of Common Prayer (1662) and its wonderful music. The English Hymn, volume 1, is a promising start to another English music series by Hyperion. This series complements Hyperion's English Anthems series, its Psalms at St. Paul's (many volumes of Anglican chant), and its two-CD collection of "Mags and Nuncs" (My Soul Doth Magnify the Lord and My Spirit Hath Rejoiced). Volume 1, "Christ Triumphant," features hymns written in the 20th century. The styles of the hymns range from confident, pre-Great War, "God is an Englishman" roof-raisers to insipid, happy-clappy jingles, which inadvertently, I assume, parallel the decline of the church. The Wells Cathedral Choir sings with gusto and, typical of Hyperion, the sound quality is excellent. My only disappointment came when the CD ended - is this all there is to the 20th century? I hope Hyperion plans to include more than one volume on the 20th century in this series. If you enjoy this type of music, you will be satisfied with this CD. If you have CDs from the other series listed above, the English Hymn, vol. 1, and a programmable, carousel-CD player, now you can click your heels and transport yourself to Evensong at King's College, Cambridge, or St. Paul's, London!

1 out of 5 stars Horrible Sound! The Quality is Poor!.......2006-12-11

With the exception of the hit single "Lead Me On", the rest of the material is dull and uninspiring. Terribly produced and the sound quaility is awful! Buyer beware!

3 out of 5 stars MONOTONE.......2006-07-04

I Own the LP that this CD is based on. I even have a 45 of "Lead me on" with "Love me Like you Mean it" as a B side. Other reviewers aparrently discovered what I did upon listening to this CD. It is recorded/mastered in MONO SOUND. Is this the end of the world? No, but it is a bit dull considering the rather wild and rich stereo sound the music was actually recorded in. Had I known then what I know now about this disk I might have waited for a better alternative. FOR DIEHARD OR TONE DEAF FANS ONLY!

5 out of 5 stars Amazing!.......2006-06-05

I bought this CD for the "Lead Me On" track and to my surprise found that most of the other tracks were really very good. This CD brings back to life the vibrance of the 70's and is an absolute must for serious CD collectors. I found the sound quality of this CD flawless as well, and I really hope there will be some more Maxine Nightingale CD releases in the not too distant future!!!

3 out of 5 stars Thank GOD....finally.......2006-04-15

I have waited and thought NEVER to see this on CD.....LEAN ME ON....what I say.

1 out of 5 stars Disaster!.......2006-01-09

Only buy this if you, like me, had to have it on CD. The sound is *astonishingly* awful. No excuse. Why this artist is so obscure and so difficult to obtain on CD is a mystery.
