5 out of 5 stars My heart still breaks............2007-07-05

I fell in love with Keith Whitley the first time I heard his voice and was devastated when I heard of his untimely death. No greater singer has ever lived. The angels are surely happy...RIP Keith

5 out of 5 stars These are the best of the best........2006-07-11

Keith Whitley was really a treasure for Country Music in the early 90's. What a tragedy that we lost him. I have a feeling that what is contained on this CD was just the beginning of his potential. Nonetheless, the songs on this compilation adequately represent the hits had. Wonderfully soulful, masterfully produced...I found myself saying, "oh man, I remember this one!" over and over again. The last track is a home recorded demo of a song to Lorrie (Keith's wife) that is sure to touch your heart.

I have to say I love Keith Whitley to death. I love most if not all of his songs. He's a Legend in my book. RIP Keith

5 out of 5 stars A great album.......2005-09-02

What can you say about a great artist such as Keith Whitley? From his beginnings as an outstanding bluegrass guitarist (and singer) with Ricky Skaggs to his move into the traditional country sound of the 80's, Keith's voice was simply fantastic. It seemed many of the neo-traditionalists of the 80's (ie George Strait and Randy Travis) relied heavily on the voice of Lefty Frizzel; Keith was the next step of Lefty Frizzel....the continuation of Lefty's sound. This album is very well recorded and the sound is superb; you can almost smell the whiskey and feel the heartache in every song. This is what country music is all about.

5 out of 5 stars One of Country's Greatest All-Time Voices.......2004-09-07

Keith Whitley had an unmistakable inflection in his voice that could make you feel the pain he had lived in his own life. He was one of the pivotal artists that made a longhaired metalhead from the desert (me) end up moving to Nashville to write country songs. It hurts me in my soul to know how many others have missed being touched by his music now that he is gone. And Kole, since you're Canadian, I can forgive you, because you just don't get it (remember, Canada gave us Shania Twain), but you really need to grow up and get a life...and while you're at it, let go of your hang-ups and try something new once in awhile.
