5 out of 5 stars Best. Song. Ever. Period.......2006-06-10

I'm Not Okay is the most frantic, angst ridden and unrelenting modern anthem of disaffected youth and teenage angst you will find!

It simply rocks

5 out of 5 stars I LOVE IT!!.......2006-05-25

OMG! I bought this song off iTunes and almost all of the other My Chemical Romance songs ever and they all rock! I love MCR! You should definitely buy this song. I also recommend Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan, the Used, Switchfoot, Foo Fighters, the Veronicas, and Greeen Day 'cause they all rock!

5 out of 5 stars I'm Okay With This Single (I Promise).......2006-02-04

This great single CD was taken from my all time favorite album "Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge", released in June of 2004. Anyway, this single CD is awesome and I'll give all three tracks a review:

I'm Not Okay (I Promise)- This song is insane. I remember watching MTV2 as a 13 year old in summer 2004 and this video coming on and I was amazed! This is the first of now three singles from 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' and is ultimately the most popular of the three. I love this song, and I probably always will. If you've gone through a recent break up or like someone alot this will appeal to you as it did me.

You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison (Live)- Awesome! If I had the insanely hard decision of picking a favorite song on 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', this would be somewhere in the top 3. Cap some insane guitars, with quite possibly the best intro ever, and you've got an awesome song. You can also hear Bert McCracken from The Used scream with Gerard on this song (on the original version).

I'm Not Okay (I Promise) [Live At MTV2's $2 Bill]- Another insane song (The Amazon description is wrong, it's $2 Bill not $3 bill; I know I watched this back in March of 2005)! This is quite possibly the best live band I've ever heard, because they get the crowd with so much energy, and their songs sound close to what they do on the original record. Though I do prefer the original version, this version is great as well.

Like I said, this single CD is great. If you like this, definitely pick up 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge', if you haven't already. Also, on March 21, My Chemical Romance comes out with 'Life On The Murder Scene', which is a documentary/Live CD, including live versions of "I'm Not Okay (I Promise), "Thank You For The Venom", and "Helena", each with a 'making-of' of each. THEN, if you like those two, MCR is scheduled to release a third studio album at some point of this year. So, as a footnote I'll say 'Three Cheers For The Best Band Ever!'!

3 out of 5 stars A Cautionary Note.......2006-03-22

Prospective purchasers of this CD should be aware that the major work here, the Jeremiah Symphony, is not a modern recording but an ancient monaural one from 1945 with a youthful Bernstein conducting the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra (with Nan Merriman as the passionately committed soloist). It sounds its age. The other works here are modern digital recordings from 1992.

5 out of 5 stars Amazing Voice!.......2005-12-20

Angie is great on CD and when performing live. Really worth adding to your collection. Perhaps the next truly great lilith-esque talent.

5 out of 5 stars I love this from beginning to end........2005-08-27

I fell in love with this CD from the opening notes of the first song. That led me to check out Angie's live shows, which pack the wallop of a freight train. Now I am a die-hard fan and recommend her to everyone.

A reviewer in Xposur magazine called "I'm Okay" a "do-it-yourself masterpiece" and I would agree.

The album probably best fits into alt-country, but it's in no way cookie cutter anything. It has simplicity, vulnerability, power, rhythm, nostalgia ... I can't speak highly enough about it. The production is spare and, in my mind, beautiful as a result. I hear echoes of 1960s rock, traditional country (early Grand Ole Opry), and bluegrass. But it's broader than all of that. I just tell people it is different and to listen to it.

When I started to list my favorite songs on the CD, I realized I was listing all of them. Still, I have tried to narrow them down to some highlights for people who want to sample.

"I'm Okay" is set to 3/4 time, with the bass leading the way and the drums adding punctuation to Angie's expansive, country-infused vocals. Imagine Leslie Gore's "You Don't Own Me" or the Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody" stripped of their orchestral strings and beefed up with a stronger rhythm section.

"Little Things" is indie rock with a honky tonk saxophone delivering a frantic trip through one man's homelessness.

"Water" has the sway of a 1950s slow dance, embracing the listener with a reassuring strength and a refrain that says "let it go, let it be, what is done is history, let it all fade away."

"First Love" is a sweet love song blending bluegrass sounds with a Texas-two-step beat.

"Heaven Knows" delivers a rush of pain and anger that only the worst of breakups can trigger.

"What Is Real Anyway" is poignantly uncluttered, allowing Angie's vocals and lyrics to convey a beautiful vulnerability.

"Sleepwalking" is about motherhood, with a sensitive drum beat that echoes the daily rhythms of life. "Dishes done. House is clean. Wishing I was seventeen."

5 out of 5 stars HEY M. saylor "hlsaylor" .......2006-02-25

Boy bands huh?

Weeeeeeeeelll Weeeeeell sir. I bet you didnt know this:
1) Your beloved Sex Pistols, were a boy band by the definition of the term. DID YOU KNOW: the sex pistols were PUT TOGETHER by malcom mclauren? yeah. but you didnt eh?
Malcom came to the US and saw the bands playing at CBGB's and wanted to bring that to the UK. he started the store "SEX" and then had tryouts for the band.

Now before you go and say crap about my chemical romance, do some research about the bands you oh so love. the sex pistols are nothing more than POP. and to be straight with you, so are my chemical romance. it's doesn't matter all that much, just as long as you like the band, you should be able to like them.

It's people like you that make me ashamed I know of the sex pistols.

I am an MCR fan. and i am NOT ashamed to say so. People are intitles to thier opinions, so let them have it.

Bury me in black, such an amaising song.

5 out of 5 stars they are the best band to ever walk the earth!!! .......2006-02-20

i think that mcr is probably the best, most healing band you will ever listen to. their lyrics have so much depth and feeling unlike some music. as you sit there listening to what gerard has to say, you feel as though he is sing directly at you. they have a certain way of connecting with their fans. the way that gerard sings mixed with the greatness of franks guitar makes the best music out there. plain and simple, they are the best!!

4 out of 5 stars I wanna see 'em.......2005-04-30

A. Ma. Zing. 'Bury Me In Black', that is. The others are... I'll be nice - forgettable. I have become a huge fan of these guys over the last year or so, and after seeing them live and spending hundreds - alright, hunDRED - in their online merch store, I can say that BMIB, is definitely, (That is the *correct* spelling of "definitely", BTW. I know many of you have trouble with that one.) without a doubt, my favorite MCR song. Seriously though, how could a song called 'Bury Me In Black' be bad? Since Amazon won't let you hear any of it, here's the lyrics:

(Tempo is 'Our Lady of Sorrows' + 'Hang 'em High')

'Bury Me In Black'

I said, we'll drown ourselves in misery tonight
I lied, you've worn out all your dancing shoes this time

Just give us war, worn, lipstick by the door if I inflame

These eyes have had too much to drink again tonight
Black skies, we'll douse ourselves in high explosive light

Just give us war, I've been calling you all week
for my shotgun

Pick up the phone
Pick up the phone f-cker

I wanna see what you're insides look like
I bet you're not f-ckin pretty on the inside
I wanna see what you're insides look like
I wanna see 'em

Well you don't say
And well I can't explain what happened to my face
late last night
I sleep in empty pools and vacant alleyways
And what I'm goin through, shot lip gloss through my veins

And when I can't complain
With the falling rain

C'mon

I wanna save your heart
I wanna see what your insides may be
[screaming outro]

Ah, perfection. The beginning of each verse ("I said", "Black skies", etc.) are drawn out, ("Blaaaaaack skiiiiiies") and screamed by Gerard through an intense growl with the higher pitched assistance of Frank, something I loved about 'I Brought You My Bullets...' which was conspicuously disregarded on 'Three cheers...'. That said, I hope someone at Reprise got killed, or fired, or something for leaving this track off the album. Making me get it from England... Feh.

This CD is worth every penny just for 'Bury Me In Black' (By my own calculations, I listened to this track fifteen times in less than twenty-four hours, and "that ain't not bad", to quote The Simpsons.)
