I'm a serious Cross Movement fan and I appreciate this effort to educate the church about Hip-Hop. If there is anyone who should spear head this mission it should be the Ambassador. However this album is not just for the church but for any fan of good music. Once you listen you'll feel this powerful message.

Thesis- Decent, but could have been better............2007-05-08

Ambassador was the first album I got from Cross Movement, and in many ways this artist introduced me to Christian rap. I loved his first CD, Christology, for its message and great variety of beats. Yet, this timeI didn't feel that in his latest album. As one reviewer said, too many of his songs are very upbeat and sound similar. The beats lack variety and seems a little uninspired. In my opinion, they actually took away from his lyrics and at times message. I give him credit for serving the Lord, but not much credit for a lesser album.

I still collect the Cross Movement albums for their wonderful message of God. But right now, my favorite is Lacrae...that guy has crazy lyrics, beats, and a powerful annoiting of God.. Maybe Ambassador will be my favorite again, but not this time.

Best Christian East Coast Hip-Hop CD.......2007-04-11

I absolutely love this CD. I personally feel that this is the best Christian East Coast hip-hop cd out their period and believe me I've listened to a lot of Christian Hip-Hop. The beats are off the chart and Ambassador ability to rhyme is simply amazing. I've gotten this into the hands of quite a few individuals who solely listen to secular hip-hop and they all have said that this cd could definetely compete with anyone out their today. Ambassador is also very deep and sound biblically. Especially in the day of the Gospel Gangstaz, Japhia Life, Rob Hodge, etc... who say very little about Christ and quite a bit about themselves in their "Christian" rap it is always refreshing to listen to an artist who is not all about himself since this seems to be especially rare in Christian hip-hop today. So I definetely recommend this CD to any Hip-Hop fan you won't be dissapointed!!

I just cope a copy of this The Ambassador "The Thesis" and I love it! Who ever said that hip-hop and CHRISTian can't mix is wrong. This Cross Movement member has proving us all wrong! I enjoy every tack on this album but the ones that stand out to me is: Song for You, Feels Good and My Clothes, My Hair ill tracks. Just proves you can mix ill music and speak about GOD at the same time!

Death Country, that is the label pasted on this band, but if this is death country, then Mahler is Death Classic. This is a country band, but then a low and dark one. Especially the more up tempo songs like Second Sun and Wolfgang are worth listening to, although the banjo playing is a joy to listen to in every song. Really. Check it out!

If you like roots, alt-country, or bluegrass, this record is for you! Wonderful, pretty vocal melodies/harmonies with a slight edge to them. Foot stompin' good time! Music to drink whiskey by!

I usually write full paragraph reviews, but little need be said here. The lyrics are perfect, the guest spots are ill. This is the greatest piece of music ever produced, in any genre, either secular or Christian. This will be the standard for good holy hip hop for a long time.

BLAZING HOT CLASSIC!!!! Cd's like this are rare. .......2006-08-26

This cd is head and shoulders above the rest. The deep lryical content and talent presented by The Ambassador are surpassed by none.He is a true lyrical genius.This cd has so much substance that I listened to it about 4 times no-stop and I did not skip one song.Each time I listened to the cd I picked up on something new. The Ambassador thoroughly delivers the gospel on each track through tight metaphors, similes, beats and hooks.The message is easier to digest and it lingers within, when it's presented in this format. Young believers, like myself, really need cd's like this, Christology is a must have for any music collection.I give it 10 stars.Keep an eye on The Cross Movement.

Timeless Classic - Secular or Christian.......2006-07-31

Just a few days ago, I picked up this album in a Christian book store. I saw it kind of on its side, and there was only one copy left. When I picked it up and looked at it, the first thing that happened was my heart rate kind of jumped, because I knew I just picked up a classic.

First off, I had a hard time putin the cd away after I listened to the WHOLE THING Top to Bottom. Ambassador remains to be one of the top dogs on Holy Hip Hop. His wordplay, especially on Christology, is second to none. His use of metaphors can be compared to any one you want. Holy Hip Hop, just hit a new standard with this album. (Even though it was released in 1999)
Everything from the production, to the flow, to the sound, its Timeless.

Before I baught Christology, I had purchased his second album, The Thesis, and I thought he brought it on Thesis. But once I heard Christology, Hip Hop was put on a new level. I have over 60 some HHH albums ( I know its not that big)
but this one goes with the 2 or so that I have, that are Classics. I mean everything about it gives glory to our Maker, and Savior. It makes most Christian rap look whack!
Most of all, I feel convicted in the ways Im livin life. I hear what Ambassador says, and I think, whoa, I need to change this, or think more about that. I feel like I just wanna get close to God, and study his word more! I had a great feeling when I was just sitting there, and listening to the album!

Its one of the most theologically deep, but (Laymen's Terms) most applyable album you can buy. This album is rare, I feel blessed to have it as a part of my collection. Trust me, you dont find many of these around these days. Hip Hop today, for the most part, except for a few MC's, is mostly poluted, which most of us know. This album, could possibly be one the best Christian rap cd's that Holy Hip Hop has to offer. Even 7 years after this came out, you dont find much like it.

Its worth EVERY dime you pay. Don't hesite to pick it up.
Feed your Faith, and your Hip Hop/Rap desire, dont settle for the Mediocre stuff. Get fed for Christ. Ambassador does not dissapoint!

Album Description

Micho Russell (1915-1994) of Doolin, County Clare was an Irish national treasure. A farmer who became a performer during the folk music revival of the 1960s, Micho was as at home on stage as he was in front of his own turf fire. His vast repertoire of beautiful old tunes, personal warmth and utterly unique approach to playing the tin whistle won him a loyal and enthusiastic following wherever he went.

Ireland's Whistling Ambassador captures the magic of Micho Russell's music and takes the listener on a journey to the very roots of Irish music. The CD features studio, concert and field recordings made by Edward Haber and Bill Ochs between 1990 and 1993. Ireland's Whistling Ambassador was nominated for Best Celtic Album of the Year in the 1995 NAIRD Indie Awards and was included on the "Best of 1995 Lists" of both The Irish Times and Irish Echo newspapers.

The album's running time is 49 minutes. A half-hour companion video, also titled Ireland's Whistling Ambassador, is available. Aside from five minutes of shared material, the audio and video formats are completely different from each other.

Micho's style is unmistakably his. Having learned to play by ear under the influence of the concertina certainly shaped his playing in a way that it is completely distinguishable from any other whistle player I've ever heard. He is one of the few musicians who I've heard that can effectively use the space between the notes in a musical way. His stories and the history of the tunes that he offers are all part of the show and just as touching as the music. After hearing this album it is easy to see why this man was loved by his audiences across the world and all who knew him personally. From his whistling to the stomping of his foot in the background to his stories and songs, this album captures the essence of one of Ireland's greatest musicians.

Tape Hiss is a GOOD THING.......2004-12-24

No comment on the recording itself - since I haven't heard it.

The best way to offer a old recording is straight - hiss and all. To "clean up" a recording - digitally or otherwise - is to harm it - even with today's technology. To remove the hiss is to remove the harmonics - which is what gives a live recording it's liveness.

Great Music Poor SACD.......2001-12-23

Armstrong fans will appreciate the joyfull exuberance of these live european recordings. Audiophiles will cringe at the SACD treatment of this album. Analog tape hiss from the original recordings is faithfully reproduced on the SACD treatment and on quiet passages, the tape hiss is overwhelming and distracting. With the premium cost of SACD recordings, I think Columbia could have digitally cleaned this recording up before releasing it. Worth adding as a Jazz album, not worth adding as an SACD demo.

The King of Dub.......2003-01-09

U Roy was the first and greatest DJ/dub-artist of the roots-dub-reggae era. Under the general umbrella of Jamaican reggae he was truly the King, second only to Bob Marley. "Rasta Ambassador" is probably his best-mixed and tightest work I have yet discovered. U Roy's dub cadences are hypnotic and when paired with the steady-yet-trippy, bass-heavy reggae riddms it becomes almost its own genre. I might call it "Space-reggae." U Roy presented a rhythmic style of dub that others who mimicked didn't seem to fully understand. When his howls and chants seem odd and out-of-place he then drops into a pocket of clever, mellow vocal percussion that plays masterfully against the tapestry of reggae power behind him. "Rasta Ambassador" is full of jewels, my personal favorite being "The Tide Is High." Get hooked on U Roy. It's well worth the ride.
