Pralines singer songwriter Pamela Richardson certainly knows her Byrds, and the vocal harmonies on the Pralines debut CD could give Gene, Roger and David a run for their money. Throw in the energy of the early Pretenders and the sultry twang of Lucinda Williams, and you've got a pretty good idea of what the Pralines are all about. The Pralines call to mind that post-British Invasion America of the 1960s, when rock and roll was at its most optimistic and garages everywhere rang with the sound of Rickenbacker guitars. Song of the Day Café harkens to a more innocent time, and the look backward is at once hopeful and bittersweet. There's a dreamy, travelogue quality to Song of the Day Café, and listeners are brought along for the ride. The Pralines drift from a rural summer carnival to a rain-soaked Paris café, through the yellow hills of Oklahoma, finally settling down in a smoky Texas honky-tonk. Guitarist Ric Salazar moves in and out of the scene, adding a perfect lead here, 12-string jangle there, or opting for a mandolin waltz. Accordion, viola and organ waft in and out, adding accents and flavoring the songs. All the while, bass lines roll like distant hills and the drums steadily count off the miles. By the time Song of the Day Café closes, the listener is as refreshed and energized as if waking from a wonderful dream.

Sound quality is first rate, booklet is informative too. Have given this as a gift to several friends with rave reviews.

This is THE definitive collection of Broadway hits. I have other collections, and none of them measure up. A great deal of care was obviously taken in compiling and presenting this box set. It covers a lot of ground, starting with some long-forgotten but still very enjoyable hits from the days of yore, and finishing with present-day favorites. To the best of my knowledge, the recordings are by those who made them famous. You won't be disappointed.

I used to think that classical music is boring, but this CD has changed my mind. The first time I listened to this CD I said, its OK. Later every time I listen to it I discover a new beautiful music. I feel calm and relaxed. I mostly liked the Borodin, Mozart and Faure songs. It is really 25 sentimental favorites. Now, many titles of the 25 "?" Favorites are on my wish list....

    Andre Rieu gives listeners a Musical Party with this Gala Evening, recorded Live. This is my favorite, although with Andre you cannot go wrong.

    Happy, Joyful, Fun. Get ready to clap, sing & dance.

    Live in Dublin has better sound, but it comes in a close second to this double CD set.

    I have them all. This is my favorite.

    This is probable the best CD made by Andre Rieu together with Fiesta.
    Should be absolutely loved by Dutch people as it has quite a few typically Dutch songs perfectly executed Live.
    It will make you sing along...even if you cannot keep a tune.

    This CD was recordered live. IT's a perfect cd for the "new year" although the sound is not perfect. But it's andré Rieu and we can always appreciate his music. If you like the Johann Strauss orchestra, you'll like the Maastricht Salon orchestra. In fact,some musicians who play in Johann Strauss, play in the Maastricht Salon orchestra. You will hear populars songs like "Old friend", "Stars and stips" "Amazing grace" and the theme song from "Popeye" etc... IT,s different from the other concert of André but it's beautiful. If you are a fan of André Rieu, you must have it.

    This concert is performed on "ashwednesday" after the carnival that is celebrated in that part of the Netherlands,they call that province Limburg, the people speak a certain dialect,part German, French, and Maastricht is one of the most beautifull cities in Western Europe,the reason for having "Euro"decision made in "the treaty of Maastricht" a few years ago.When we listen to this music,we shed a tear.

    Recording engineer Conny Peters has done it again. What could have been an excellect CD was turned into a less than satisfactory one. André's violin sounds like a cheap toy. Improper microphone placement, incorrect recording levels are but a few of the problems found with this CD.

      Pralines singer songwriter Pamela Richardson certainly knows her Byrds, and the vocal harmonies on the Pralines debut CD could give Gene, Roger and David a run for their money. Throw in the energy of the early Pretenders and the sultry twang of Lucinda Williams, and you’ve got a pretty good idea of what the Pralines are all about. The Pralines call to mind that post-British Invasion America of the 1960s, when rock and roll was at its most optimistic and garages everywhere rang with the sound of Rickenbacker guitars. If you’re looking for a definitive example of the roots/Americana genre, The Pralines Song of the Day Café is it. Song of the Day Café harkens to a more innocent time, and the look backward is at once hopeful and bittersweet. There’s a dreamy, travelogue quality to Song of the Day Café, and listeners are brought along for the ride. The Pralines drift from a rural summer carnival to a rain-soaked Paris café, through the yellow hills of Oklahoma, finally settling down in a smoky Texas honky-tonk. Guitarist Ric Salazar moves in and out of the scene, adding a perfect lead here, 12-string jangle there, or opting for a mandolin waltz. Accordion, viola and organ waft in and out, adding accents and flavoring the songs. All the while, bass lines roll like distant hills and the drums steadily count off the miles. By the time Song of the Day Café closes, the listener is as refreshed and energized as if waking from a wonderful dream.

      A friend made a mix cd for me recently and innocently placed between Lucinda Williams and Wilco was the Pralines song 'What to Do About You'. I immediately LOVED the song but couldn't place just who it was. The singer kind of reminded me of Lucinda, but with less drawl. I called my friend immediately and she laughed and told me that this awesome band is called the Pralines.

      Needless to say, I dropped everything and went in search of this CD. I would have been happy enough with my purchase if I only liked the one song (it's THAT GOOD), but to my delight, I LOVED every single song on it.

      Some of the songs are twangy (Unlikely Undertaking, Redeye to Loveland), some of them are just drop dead beautiful. The singer, Pamela Richardson has a beautiful voice and the harmonies are terrific. The band is tight as hell and the whole thing is just fantastic. I really hope these guys get big as hell and I'm betting that at some point, they'll be on Austin City Limits.

      If you like Lucinda, My Morning Jacket, Gilian Welch, you are going to love the Pralines!

      This compilation does not contain titles of real hit movies. It contains mostly sentimental or comic songs from old movies and even from the ones I managed to recognise only a handful were original. It struck me hard to find "Enae Volare" from "Les Visiteurs", the only title I ordered this compilation for, terribly altered but that might concern me alone. Finding "What a Feeling" from "Flashdance" similarly altered made me wonder... later, on the back of the box, I found a small note saying, as I could decrypt from French, that the songs in the album were not necessary original. I should've been warned about this in advance!
