5 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of 2006!.......2006-07-02

There are few albums that give you that hip hop feeling but this is one of them. Project Move hailing from boston has given me that hip hop feeling.

Their steeze is on some mid ninties flavor (which i feel was the golden era of hip hop). They have alot of great production on the album, this is one of those albums where you have to try and decide on what your favorite song is. Am to Pm, The anthem, Butterfly theory, Thats how it was(remix), Love Gone wrong, are all standouts. The interludes themselves are pretty good as well.

Thank you project move for giving me that feeling again, if you guys are reading this, im letting you know that your hard work is not going unappreciated. Project Move proves that you can make good hip hop music with out the drugs, killing and gimmicks!

3 out of 5 stars Screechy yet Pleasing Angst Synth Pop Rock.......2003-12-16

I don't know a single thing about the members of this band, I bought this on a whim after hearing the samples, which actually catch the good moments of the selected songs. Overall, this isn't a bad album. As I mentioned in my title, it's screechy. I can definitely see how the vocals get on some peoples nerves. But I can't fault the singer for his strange voice; more often than not he makes up for his tonal foibles with a heartfelt delivery, sometimes achingly heartfelt, but always in the earnest, the way the truest, most painful teen angst goes.

Another minor complaint is the longevity of each track. These cuts are all way too long. Each one could cut off at least 30 seconds to a minute. Track 3 for example, is mysteriously set at 5 minutes and 25 songs. These songs would be great at 2 minutes each, but 5 minutes plus makes do for some heavy wear and tear on the ears, greatly lessening my interest in the songs. I have nothing against long tracks, it's just that they need to do something, like build up and boil over into a shredding rockout or explore different melodies in a unique, but compatible structure. These songs do neither of those things. Frankly, behind all the guitars and synths, the songs grow quite stagnant.

It's strange because I wouldn't necessarily recommend this album right off the bat, due to the length and rough edges, but like I mentioned before, coming from the heart must count for something. One thing is evident, these guys are really playing they're asses off. There are no inhibitions on this album. It's all raw rocking, sometimes pretty bad, sometimes pretty good. I'd like to finish up this review by panning this album as a budget Pinkerton, but I'm really enjoying track 5, I'm So Sorry, right now, so I'll finish up on a more positive note. Basically, this isn't anything that will be a top 10 in your collection, but if you're willing to throw out a few bucks for some fun pop rock songs, by all means, try the beans.

This album is definitely a must have for anyone out there striving and wanting that feel good hip hop 90'sesque groove back. The lyrics are intangible, production is simple but yet has a dab of excellence and the delivery that these brothers bring to the album is insane. This one is without a doubt one for the books.

3 out of 5 stars In this case the BUZZCOCKS do it better........2006-02-27

I love a great cover or tribute album. The essence of one is when the bands can either cover the original song in a way that offers a new take on the song or that covers it in a way that it's almost like an outtake by the original band, a good outtake.

There's the rare case when a cover is actually better than the original as in a CLASH tribute CD where a band does Death or Glory really well with gusto and upon hearing the original one can see its one of the few CLASH songs that's a bit flat.

There's no such song here. I'd say the BUZZCOCKS do every song better then these guys do here. Some are pretty good covers, DOSE especially I think captured the general BUZZCOCKS sound well. As with the CLASH when a band does like a punk or, actually, a sorta hardcore punk version of one of their songs its not all that good because the BUZZCOCKS (and the CLASH for that matter) aren't hardcore bands and the essence of their artistry sorta gets plowed away when done that way.

What this CD shows me is that I really like the BUZZCOCKS' vocalist's sound. No one really measures up to his distinct sound. The best covers here sound more faithful to the original although none of them are simply duplications of the originals.

I wouldn't rush out and buy this. I may never listen to this again actually. I think I'd explore more BUZZCOCKS albums rather than listen to particularly to this or make like a best of version of this using say 5 of the best songs as a sort of ep. chrisbct@hotmail.com

        Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars clever and memorable.......2004-02-02

The album is a good mix of Steve's catchy, funny tunes (such as "Coffee and Beer" and "The CD Song") and his more serious, melancholic tunes such as my favorite, "Right on Red." There is something for everyone, whether you want to tap your toes to the twangy blugrass sound or appreciate good lyrics and melodies.

        4 out of 5 stars clever songwriter/straightforward alt-country.......2004-01-31

There's some great tunes on this. On "I'll Take a Tuesday", the chorus gets me every time. For anyone coming out of a relationship or trying to get into one, this album will hit a lot of right chords.

4 out of 5 stars Catchy and Clever Tunes.......2004-01-31

Mardon's sound is a folk/country hybrid with some songs heavier on the twang than others. There are many clever tunes (When I'm Drunk, Coffee and Beer, New Girl at the Office, Tex's Tune)--with lyrics that bear a close listening. However, for me, it is some of the less cute songs (Right on Red, I'll Take a Tuesday) that truly resonate, while others such as Doctors Today manage to be both witty and moving.

        4 out of 5 stars Twang with a Twist!.......2004-01-31

Great lyrics...I always start my day with coffee and end it with a beer!

5 out of 5 stars Stories You Tell Your Friends Over a Few Beers.......2004-01-31

Great CD. Music with a great deal of meaning. The lyrics cover the highs and lows of everyday people and everyday lives. Part of why the songs stick in your head so much is that you live them out everyday. If somebody made a comedy about the stories you tell your friends over a few beers, this would be the soundtrack.
