5 out of 5 stars The WALTZ QUEEN DELIVERS - GREAT ITEM.......2007-04-25

Miss Page is one of the most versatile singers of all time. I know many folks that have this CD and they all love it. Even her current CDs of the 1990s and 2000 are fabulous. Her voice is deep and rich. She is still THE SINGING RAGE. Over 100 million records sold, she continues to sell today. YOU GO GIRL !!!

3 out of 5 stars Thank you.......2006-06-27

It has some good old songs on and will be a valuable addition to my CD collection

2 out of 5 stars If you like 'em with schmaltz . . . .......2006-06-10

I've only listened to a few tracks before storing in my to-listen-to-later stack. P.P. is a borderline case for me, but I like Tennessee Waltz. What we have here sounds like an overdone re-recording of 50s and 60s hits--heavy on the violins, choruses, and other syrupy forms of overproducing. Do I detect the heavy hand of Mitch Miller ladling on the schmaltz? Reminds me of the way the fun Sons of the Pioneers were sugared o'er in their later years.

5 out of 5 stars Didn't think this was my kind of music but..........2006-03-10

I bought this for my partner for Christmas. He loves country, bluegrass, and Bette Midler. He plays music all evening long every evening. He's taught me to like or even love the kinds of music he loves (before we were together, I was more a rock and roll and classical kind of guy). This Patti Page CD has really gotten under my skin. I can't believe I'm listening to music my parents listened to, but this is really good stuff. Ms. Page's voice is, no other word for it, sublime. The arrangements are very lush. I was familiar with some of the songs but not all. I love it now when my partner puts this CD on (great as she is, there has to be a little relief from Dolly Parton from time to time!).

3 out of 5 stars Not the Best.......2005-09-09

I must admit I've never been a fan of Patti's. She certainly has an acceptable voice, but she sings so artificially. Even her "look" on the jacket of this CD is artificial.

Anyway, I see little of the substance of a great singer such as Eydie Gorme or, one of my favorites (I'm a WW II guy), Helen Forrest.

5 out of 5 stars Music to cure what ails you........1999-08-25

I have had the pleasure of seeing these guys several times, and each show brings something new to their music. While they themselves may not be big names in the folk world, they deserve to be. This album is worthy of being in anyones folk collection. The first song on the album "Gather the Family" is sung in the fashion of a shape note hymn and is just very powerful and beautiful. It also sets the tone for the rest of the disc. In addition to being fine singers, songwriters and musicians, Michael and David are also able interpreters of other peoples music. This is no where more evident than in their recording of John Gorkas previously unreleased "Faded Blue and Gold." Take my advice. Buy the disc. Listen to the first track, listen to the last track, and then listen to everything in between and I think that you will agree with me.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars One of the best new albums of 2004.......2005-01-18

If you LOVE music & talent - you'll LOVE Donna Lynn's new album! It's easily one of the best independent albums of 2004. Her voice is similar to that of Alison Krauss and I think many people would feel a familiarity with her vocal stylings, even on the first listening. Yet Donna Lynn manages to sing with a style that is distinctly her own and these songs are a testament to her superb ability as a vocalist. This album's songwriting is down home and rootsy which makes the songs easy to relate to. I would reccommend this album to anyone who is in the mood to hear some beautiful (and soulful) acoustic music.
