and a super recording of crafty song writing.i guess it's a real compliment when who hear dave schramm's guitar playing and the schramms production ripped off by the best.if you don't own a schramms record, this is the one to buy!.i've seen these guys play around nyc for 10 years,the schramms invented roots rock americana!!.

This CD is rather a disappointment, I think. I love Richard Buckner who does back-up on here and like Jeb Loy Nichols (also on harmony/back-up) too so I figured this would be well worth buying. While there are a few good lines, riffs and moments on here, overall it is an uncommonly boring CD -- not good for driving, for example.

It's a tightly packed body of tunes and poetry that stays in my mind long after the stereo has been turned off. I wish I could describe the music in such a way as to do it justice. It's rock and folk and loud and tender and guitars and organs and all things that make sense. I gave it two listens and felt satisfied. I gave it a third and was totally blown away. The playing and songwriting are nothing less than superb!

5 out of 5 stars Country Rockers Free Range Chicken CD.......2001-01-02

This is an overall great CD. The country rockers mix rock and country with their unusual talent that is rarely seen in many bands today. The whole CD is great if you like this kind of music. There is something for everyone on the CD. The music ranges from country rock to head banging hard rock/country. There are fast and slow songs. All in all, this is an excellent CD and I recommend everyone purchase this albumn and add it to their classic collection.

    This is a great album and I agree with the prior reviewer that it it is one that I listen to over and over, even 10 years later. While he labels it power pop, she has a diverse style and I think the album includes alt-country, folk, and rock. There are also a number of prominent guest muscians. This album and artist deserve a wider audience

    When this CD came out I was a subscriber to Stereo Review and CD Review. I figured if both magazines gave a new recording a best of the month review, it was probably worth checking out. I had never heard of Mary Karlzen at the time, but the reviews were great, so I bought it. In fact, I ended up buying lots of copies for other people. Great power pop, I still play it frequently and I think that it is one of the finer recordings in my collection.
