5 out of 5 stars Starlight......Starbright!.......2007-06-23

Joyful! This is a star studded collection guaranteed to take you down memory lane almost hand in hand with Linda. Her intimate song stylings could even make standards and ballads seem like golden oldies, for she is vivacious, sparkling and exuberant! You may relive first love like it's a walk in the park. All of these songs about stars seem a metaphor for the singer...a star in her own right. In this collection are ten song titles about "stars" and even some moonbeams thrown in too. There are 8 songs in a row about stars. It's a rare and impeccable CD!

This is a great album by a cute little gal with a big voice. Her songs were popular when I was a young man out of high school and it's great to relive them.

5 out of 5 stars Linda Scott album.......2007-03-14

Wow, really neat sounds. I loved the hits as well as the other songs on the CD. If you love the girl sounds of the 50's and 60's, you'll love this album! I recommend it highly!

5 out of 5 stars Linda Scott: Star Vocalist.......2007-01-13

Linda Scott was unfortunately an underrated talent by the media. She had a great vocal instrument and she knew how to utilize it to its fullest capacity. Her bright sparkling voice has an instant appeal. She knew how to phrase the lyric and deliver the melody in stunning fashion. She had many hits including the million seller, "I Told Every Little Star" which was recently featured in David Lynch's film, "Mulholland Drive". She was originally signed to a recording contract by the Winnipeg record mogul, Neil Galligan, who produced all the songs on this release. I treasure the fact that a local personality was responsible for bringing this great talent to a wider audience. I always felt that she should have had a broader following like Petula Clark. The arrival of The Beatles really put a damper on the American Pop Rock Ballad Singer. Woman singers like Lesley Gore, Connie Francis, Connie Stevens et al went into a sharp decline and had to find other venues for their talent. The British invasion had their pop rock ballad singer equivalents like Tom Jones, Englebert Humperdinck, Petula Clark and Dusty Springfield but their American counterparts like Gene Pitney, Bobby Vee, Ricky Nelson, Dionne Warwick and many others were relagated to the backburner. But now here is Linda Scott once more sounding great in a state-of-the-art compact disc. Eric Records deserves our deepest gratitude and highest praise for this superlative release. Perhaps, they might consider releasing more or all of her recordings as she never made a bad record. An artist of Linda Scott's calibre deserves to have her releases in public domain once more. I am certain her great song stylings will be appreciated by many old and new fans alike. It's wonderful that these songs are available again by this great singer. Linda Scott's time has finally come again!

3 out of 5 stars I can't believe it !!.......2006-02-25

Actually, I haven't purchased this item yet. I'm just thrilled to find it. I've been searching for the song "Starlight, Starbright" for years, without really knowing the exact name of the song. Long, long ago, when I was about to enter the 7th grade, I heard this song when I was at a friends house. The old 45 record had actually been purchased for "Don't Bet Money, Honey" but I liked the flip side better. Everytime that I went down the street to visit my friend Debby, I got out "Starlight, Starbright, and played it as loud and as long as she would let me. I've sung it over the years to my friends, but no one knew the exact name or who had sung it. Thank goodness for the internet....it saved the day. After long hours of searching, I've finally found THE song. Just had to share my joy! YIPPEE!

At odds with each other, the duo must cooperate to solve grisly cases involving serial killers, vampires and demons. Directly from the anime series, the soundtrack to "Descendants of Darkness" features 28 tracks of sublime, exquisite music, including the TV size versions of the opening song, 'Eden' and the show's ending theme 'Love Me.' 4 out of 5 stars Oh yes! More good music, but..........2007-05-24

Music for anime is a really special niche in its own and, for me, can only add greatly to the series as a whole, or not. Stellvia's music is fantastic, great writing, powerful and thematic. The intro piece, "Brilliant Road To Tomorrow" is as masterful as it gets, alongside other anime themes, like Nadesico's, Kiddy Grade's, an oldie-but-goody like Lost Universe, and even Starship Operators, another Geneon production.
For me, Im caught by what a series gives me at the start, its intro and music. The Stellvia Foundation, both story and music, are above par in every sense.
I give it a "4" because these are only "t.v sized"...they are truncated just as in the series, when they are really full length songs. I got this one simply to add to the collection and show my appreciation, but I'd suggest purchasing "Sora no Koe" by Angela, and get the full songs. They are quite worth it.

4 out of 5 stars This is really the complete Stellvia OST.......2006-01-07

I loved the series, and I knew the music was pretty standard stuff for animation, but I still got the soundtrack. The music is good, suspenseful in parts, happy and cheery in parts, sad in other parts, and the themes fit the series.

The problem I ran into was that the themes are TV-sized, only a minute and a half long each. Other than that, it's a GREAT background CD. I still put this album on when I need some pretty music in the background to study or work or cook to, the themes are a bonus.

I LOVE Asu e no Brilliant Road, it's on my Greatest Theme Songs mix indefinately.

    Album Description

Chicago, IL, the windy city, was blowing on this night but not outside. In the depths of the subterranean Elbo Room, the Twinemen bellowed out some of the finest music we here at KUFALA have experienced in a long time. The dedicated Morphine fans that showed up were awestruck by the Twinemen's greatness. Their prescription for a musical amphetamine was filled by a performance of Morphine's "Eleven O'Clock". In the encore the band shed light on some of their tour van antics and donned headlamps and sent the crowd spelunking through a musical journey. The smiles on peoples faces piling up the stairs to street level said it all, an evening to remember.

4 out of 5 stars I Expected More But This Will Do .......2006-04-09

I really don't even like techno or club mixes that much but I have to say that this is a pretty good CD that may get you into this type of music. The sound quality is a few steps above what I expected, you can hear it very clear. It has nice bass and it has a lot of music you could play to keep hyperactive company entertained. I also was expecting a few other tracks that I heard in the Lain series but this will do but you are better off getting the import.

3 out of 5 stars Been better if complete.......2004-02-25

This soundtrack contains the fast paced techno beat that is heard on occasion within the Lain Anime. Overall it is good and lots of fun to listen too. The music isn't to harsh even though it retains a very good techno edge to it.

The biggest problem with this soundtrack is that it is missing two tracks that are found on the Import version, and those two tracks are the whole reason I wanted the CD to begin with, the rest of the music is really just nice to have but not great. For this reason I docked it a star.

FYI - The two tracks that are missing are Duvet Ciberia Mix and Duvet TV Sized - the latter track is the music that is used in the shows intro.

3 out of 5 stars For Parties Only.......2004-02-21

Having never seen an episode of Lain I never knew what to expect from this CD. I got it for free so I'm not so disappointed that the music is nothing but unengaging background sound for parties where conversation is more important than dancing. There are some slightly above average tracks but the majority is just fair fluff.

For hardcore fans of Lain only (whatever it may be).

5 out of 5 stars A Poet For The Ages.......2006-01-12

In the history of American reverence toward Nature, Bob Nolan's place is right up with Thoreau, Aldo Leopold and John Muir. Nolan was prime songwriter, and spiritual/musical center, of the Sons of the Pioneers from 1936, when Roy Rogers left, to 1949, when Nolan "retired." He rode the "cowboy" wave, but his best lyrics transcend any genre. Without a word wasted, his moving song-poems about wandering loneliness, and finding God in desert and stars, convey an authentic manliness that his resonant voice made hugely popular in those days before faith became so political, and before "Western" meant the violence of Clint Eastwood. Nolan's memory deserves a much better fate.

That voice still haunts on this unique recording, made a year before his death. The real treats are two of his best post-retirement songs (the only Nolan recordings): "He Walks with the Wild and the Lonely" and "We'll Go A-Wandering" - plus Nolan's moving version of Marty Robbins' "Man Walks Among Us."

There's a line from the Nolan song "The Mystery Of His Way" which could easily apply to his own body of work: "And He will find a way/ To speak with you some day."

        5 out of 5 stars A "true" Pioneer.......2003-11-22

If you are one of those, who are captivated by the the very special sound of the Sons of the Pioneers, you will absolutely love this cd. As far as I know it is the only recording Bob Nolan did on his own. His voice is probably the most recognizable of all the "Sons", besides Roy Rogers.
All the selections and arrangements on this cd are most "special".
